My Story
Being born a daughter of a Baptist preacher and psalmist; life was not so easy and the lessons were sometimes hard to learn. Some people expected you to be humble and holy and the others expected you to sing to the glory of God no matter what was going on in your life. My parents truly loved the Lord, and they taught me and my 3 siblings to do the same, as they loved us unconditionally. We did not have a lot growing up; but guess what? We did not know that we were an economically deprived people. When I look back over my life, I now realize that we were oppressively poor for my years. We had to be standing in line for the welfare food that was so deliciously sprinkled with my mother’s love. Then as we came out of the back alley from the Salvation Army I was proud to wear the clothes that came from the brown paper bags labeled A&P. Times were hard, but it was a wonderful life that I loved and would not change, simply because it was God’s plan for me. Even then I thought everyone else did the same at some time or another. Even when mother would pull our big blue car up to the gas tank and charge .50 cent worth
of gas, I still did not know we were different. But you know what? That is what I was supposed to know, all was well, and God was providing all that I needed at that time. With my humble beginning, Daddy and Momma had it all under control as they were teaching us survival skills that have lasted for a lifetime. I thank God for my strong, wise and loving Christian mother that taught me how to survive life in such a short time. The one thing I always knew without a doubt was that my parents loved me; and it was going to get better for me.
As I grew up in the country walking on a dirt road with no shoes, playing in the woods in the four room playhouse, making babies doll with Coke bottles and grass; I learned how to love life and appreciated all the teaching of the wise and beautiful women of the affectionately known, Stoney Hill,
community. These women were a strong and creatively industrious tapestry of sisters full of wisdom, faith, courage, love and grace. Some of these sisters were married, widowed and even single mothers. With two churches and a school within walking distance, most of the neighborhood sisters were saved, sanctified, and were filled with a wealth of knowledge, wisdom and understanding. They were un-officially doctors, lawyers, mid-wives, herbalist, teachers, preachers, singers, visionary, gardeners, musicians, seamstress, entrepreneurs, and domestic engineers. The royal tapestry was greatly weaved in loved that still lives on today in all of the women that came out of the Stoney Hill,
village. The village was strong, connected and covers under the blood of Jesus Christ. Well I guess you could say, my life was influenced by some awesomely refined and wise sisters that were fearfully and wonderfully made by an awesome God. Many did exactly what my Great Grand-mother stated to my aunt. They were not perfect, but Learned all they could, then passed it on, died, and forgot it all.
Oh, I so missed them, but the wisdom that they imparted in my life for the home, the school, and then to the church still live on in this book, Ma’ Sisters’ Wisdom.
I am so honored that I had the privilege to be endowed with this treasure by my mother, and all women who have touched my life in any way, past and present. I bless God for all the women on Stoney Hill. I am glad I learned all I could from the Sisters of the community in which I grew up, that has helped me to survive God’s ordained process for my life. Even with all that I have learned over the years, there is still much more that I can learn to make me better. Life has taken me on a journey to find this powerful Treasure of Wisdom; I found Him and I know Him. By the grace of My God, I now possess the courage to give birth to Ma’ Sisters Wisdom
. During a 12 year time of processing, God revealed some things to me that would grow me and put me back together, as He washed me with His Word. He comforted me and picked me up out of a horrible pit. What the enemy meant for bad; God is, now using it for His Glory. Though the weapons have been formed against me, they did not and will not prosper, because I chose to remember and continue to learn something from every battle and live. I am now a Sister strong, courageous and empowered to prosper in every situation that come up against me. I have been re-created more than a conqueror! Now, I just want to pass the Wisdom on …. Because I am most humbly thankful for the victory through Jesus Christ!!!

What is Wisdom?
(James 3:17 NLT)
But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. Wisdom is joyful, peaceful, loving, gentle at all times, and willing to sacrifice for the good of others, full of mercy and good fruit. In wisdom there is no room for favoritism and hypocrisy. Wisdom is always sincere. If you follow Wisdom, you will be led into all truth. The more you hear wisdom speaking to and through you, the more you will thirst for Wisdom to penetrate your soul, as you evolve into all God created you to be. God is the creator of every good and perfect gift. That fact makes you one of his perfect creation, but you must know God’s will for your life by spending time in the word of God. God is wisdom and He is the Word of God. You must know Him as He knows you!
It is possible for you to have everything your hearts desires, but without the wisdom of the Father, it will do you no good. What would it profit you to gain the whole world and to lose your soul? Many have lost families, friends, fame, relationships and fortune, due to the lack of wisdom to hold on to the things that are important to be whole and complete. Children join street gangs and some young sisters have babies at the age of 13 due to the lack of wisdom and parents that lacked the wisdom to train, love, protect and guide their children.
Wars rage as our economy is headed for a downturn throughout the world. It is quite frustrating to see people in key positions absent of the wisdom to operate in their roles of authority. Can a fig tree, Ma’ Sister, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh. Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic. The Wisdom that I am taking about is not unstable or double-minded. This wisdom only comes from above. It is not philosophy, as one might think.
Ma’ Sister, be encouraged that, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ. As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. (Colossians 2: -10 NKJV)
Ma’ Sister if you want to be a woman full of wisdom; get to know Christ Jesus and allow him to lead you into your destiny. Walk in Him and let Him make you a vessel full of good treasure.
Many women today are going throughout life, lost in the world, and unrecognizable to themselves and others, as the awesome and remarkable women of God, that they were created to be. They try, yet, they just don’t make it. They cry, but the tears cannot cleanse. Some even appear to be happy, but the heart does not smile. They are full even bent over, but not yet broken. Some sisters even pretending they have got it all together. Created in God’s perfection, we have become unperfected and unaware of the wisdom that encircles us. Ma’ Sister, this treasure of wisdom through Christ Jesus will keep you from making wrong choices when the right choices would take you into your promised land.
Can somebody please tell me how one can respect knowledge, but hate wisdom? It is only when you think that you know it all, already, and you think there is no room for growth. I don’t care how smart you might be, there is always something more to learn. God has given you access to wisdom, and you must respect it. The loss of respect for self and others has led many of our women in society to drugs, alcohol, suicide in one way or another. Some become gang members and prostitute themselves for a few dollars on the street and in the market place. If you are not wise, you too, will not know that you have been on the auction block. Unfortunately, the lack of wisdom will cause you to become enslaved to one thing, or another. That is why we have got to recognize wisdom with the utmost respect, and make the connection, because people will sometimes leave you, or cut you off, but true Wisdom will
