About this ebook

Udo Nwabueze Agomoh is a novelist. She has now completed her first poetry collection, which I found to be a masterpiece. Her artistry is comparable to that of the late Maya Angelou.
Neil Sanders

This lady has a wonderful talent. Take a look at Martins Legacy . . . about thirty stanzas send the message. The Power of Poetry thats likened to Chinua Achebe.
PETER HAMMINGTON

This is certainly a beautiful work of Poetry . . . what an Art!
Edmund Gabriel and Solomon Carr

It sure is a great work. Its good to share such a power of literary art.

Author

Udo Nwabueze Agomoh

Udo Nwabueze Agomoh is a writer who has previously published two books, The Banana Skin Love Magic and Unlost Hope. The updated edition of The Banana Skin Love Magic, is soon to be republished. Poetic Symbol is her third book... a collection of poems that explore and propound many different spheres of life, drawing from the author’s first hand experiences and her vision of world crises, racism, discrimination and much more.  Just a perfect bird to listen to, her poetic prowess captures several vital issues cutting across our diverse world, globally. Just a pinch of the reflections can be found in poems such as Martin Luther King Jnr, Nelson Madiba Mandela, Barack Obama, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, British System, and many more. Another excellence joins the poetry kingdom, but this is one like never before.

    Part One

    Barack Obama

    Like another, you sprang

    at an unexpected moment;

    despite the gaps within.

    The steps of a former

    legend

    have played a part

    in this reality,

    but you are certainly a rare gem.

    You have climbed the ladder

    in a unique circumstance

    and victory,

    most unexpectedly,

    was born.

    The victory surmounts it all,

    yet there is the need to recall

    the injustice that remains

    within the environment.

    It’s not all over; it’s still around,

    but the emergence of a sun ray

    sent from above keeps the need

    for the sunshine to flow and abound.

    You have attained a high status

    like those

    of a similar stand.

    You showed exceptional brilliance,

    positive steps were taken

    towards making all the difference;

    to benefit those of every race

    but consensus always supersedes

    whoever you are, wherever the place

    as in every circumstance.

    You are a rare gem - Barack Obama,

    your name is now part of our history.

    Definitely you have distinguished yourself,

    your rare and noble roots were a mystery

    as were some predecessors also,

    but truly, with your deeds;

    there also remains

    such admiration in our hearts.

    The quality of a legend,

    remains of course rooted;

    for all your good works,

    Barack Obama…

    your sun ceaselessly shines.

    The early morning sunshine

    floods in, riding high

    with a feel of you.

    In the bright blue sky.

    Refreshing a peaceful moment

    as a need for accomplishment.

    The road trodden quite robust

    But still there’s a task ahead.

    You are but an exemplary:

    an emulating tool;

    sowing a seed to be cherished

    forever, but also message -

    not to abandon peace.

    Further positive accomplishments

    and equality amongst all mankind;

    that’s our watchdog;

    And no doubt your sun will forever shine

    and our sun shall remain

    for you.

    Chinua Achebe

    The times were scarce,

    downtrodden

    and hopeless

    for the black literary world,

    but you shone your light,

    you opened the firmly locked door,

    to usher in

    a new world for us all.

    A world of impossibility

    became possible;

    now our stories can be told

    from African perspectives,

    in the way you told your stories

    that were exceptionally brilliant.

    You were a literary icon,

    It was rare to find your like.

    The mark you made

    for sure goes down in History,

    resulting in further births

    inspired by your words.

    What a rare gem you were!

    Every moment cherished,

    each precious breath worthwhile.

    You touched the literary world,

    and also the wider world

    and both hold your memory special.

    Sadly the news of your passing away

    left us afraid and fragile;

    but your time was spent well

    for your passing was but inevitable.

    But your works

    will live on

    from generation to generation

    without an ending.

    You definitely nourished the world

    with your rich helping of stories.

    Adieu! Adieu! Chinua Achebe

    You were a literary legend.

    And your sun will never cease.

    Once again… Adieu!

    we give thanks to you

    for ‘Things fall apart’

    and all – Chinua Achebe.
