Ken is a grandfather, father, midwestern boy, writer, speaker, photographer, and lyricist. In his early fifties, he decided to replace his habit of reading with writing while travelling. Little did he know that this simple change would lead him on a transformative journey of self-discovery and creativity.
For 20 years, he lived and worked in 15 countries across Asia, immersing himself in new cultures, languages, and experiences. Along the way, he found himself consumed by the thoughts inside him as they fought tirelessly to be heard. Writing became his outlet, his way of processing the world around him and sharing his ideas with others. And with a lot of time on his hands in cars, planes, and airports, it poured out of him.
As he embraced change and pursued his passion for writing, he discovered new depths of growth and transformation. Life is full of unexpected twists and turns, but taking chances and trying new things can lead to unimaginable opportunities and personal fulfilment.
At 59 years old, Ken left his corporate job behind to dedicate his life to giving real people and real conversations a place to be heard. He is a man on a mission; uncovering the true essence of America.
Armed with a jar full of questions that he developed over three years of self-reflection, Ken is on the road interviewing strangers in 111 cities across the nation. Each episode of The Jar features a new guest whose life story unfolds slowly through the thought-provoking questions in hand. Listen to guests’ share their deepest thoughts, struggles, and triumphs, painting a vivid picture of the human experience.
Now 60, he's fueled by passion and purpose as he’s turning strangers into friends. With the help of a remote small team, he's dedicated to giving everyday Americans a platform to be heard. With no topic or story off limits, you can expect to hear some of the most fascinating and unexpected stories from the most unexpected people. From the bustling streets of New York City to the serene shores of Santa Monica, The Jar is discovering the lives of the strangers you pass by on the street.
The Jar is more than a podcast - it's a movement to highlight what it means to be human and live well, together. Ken's journey will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions, inspiring you to see the world in a new light. So buckle up, and join Ken Stearns on this thrilling adventure as he discovers the heart and soul of America, one conversation at a time. And who knows? You just might be the next guest on The Jar, sharing your story and leaving a lasting impact on the world.
