    Janet Plummer grew up on the Caribbean island of Jamaica and immigrated to the United States with her husband and two girls in 1989. A third daughter was born two years later. In this narrative poem, she describes what it might have been like for her two oldest children as they made the trip from their homeland to America. The story is a composite of their collective experience gleaned from her observations of their reactions, and depictions from her own imagination. Now a grandmother, Janet looks forward to reading this story to her grandchildren.
