A Rose by Any Other Name...: A Collection of Thoughts in Verse.
By Arunav Barua

About this ebook
This whole collection of around seventy poems is basically the expressions of the heart, including its capacity for love and its angst at pain.
It is for all readers who take great pleasure in exploring the dimensions of thought! It is a collection for believers in that one slippery concept we all know as Unconditional Love.

Brought up in a hill station in the North Eastern part of India, I have been a willing recipient of the wonders of nature that Shillong threw up at me. From streams to hillocks, pine trees and clouds—the rains would often mean that you stayed back at home reading or writing (if you had the desire). I chose the latter in between engrossing reads from the former. My childhood gave me a constant, which helped pass phases of losing myself in the milieu and in life. I have used verse to give comfort and find stability in an otherwise difficult existence.

Somebody
To Deuta, my best friend and guide through times adverse, happy in my happiness, sad in my sorrow and a rock through my trials.
To Ma, who taught me to love books, to be happy in small measure at even ordinary instances and the value of human relationships.
To Rumpi, who is, and has been the one who made my failures seem bearable because of her being there, fighting her own battles with courage and bravado.
To Ron, who has so naturally adapted to being a part of the family.
And to Duffer, who doesn’t need to be told anything except ‘duffer’.
FOREWORD
Some time ago, a young boy was admitted in a critical state under my care following a traffic accident. As providence would have it, he gradually started to recover and fortunately for all of us, he made a complete recovery. As he was recuperating, my daily interaction with him gradually turned into a more personal one from a mere doctor patient relationship. I gradually discovered that there is a unique intensity of thoughts in this young man quite uncharacteristic of people of his age. A more pleasant surprise was in store for me when I discovered that the boy is a prolific composer of verses, and that too in English!! This young man was none other than Arunav.
Poetry has fascinated mankind from time immemorial and I was no exception. The lyrical flow of words
