Acknowledgment
Our mission statement is to inspire others to live out their dreams; To be, do, and have anything that brings them joy, love, and happiness.
Dreams do not come true if you do not put in the work to make them happen. I have to thank my good friend PJ Medina for giving me a chance and taking a risk on me when I said, ‘you should let me write personal training as your job with you’.
I have to thank my parents for their exceptional guidance and for the freedom they allowed me to become who I am today, as well as for the help giving me second thought on this book when I needed an extra pair (or two) of eyes.
I would also like to acknowledge the people close to me that pushed me to take risks, and never, ever give up on my dreams.
As well as a special thank you to my Models, Tye Ellis, Ryan McNulty, Gabriel DeGuzman, Israel Maldonado
And to the Amazing;
Nicholas Spaccarotelli who shot the cover of this book, as well as all of the pictures in this book.

INTRODUCTION
In 2011 I was working as a fitness manager alongside PJ Medina. We became close and started to talk about his series of books and his vision for the brand. Very near the top of my bucket list was becoming a published author so I suggested that PJ allow me to write the next book in the series and that it should be about personal training. He agreed. Fast forward a year and we are sitting in my new home city of Las Vegas agreeing on the terms and setting forth a time line. A simple suggestion turned a dream on mine into a reality, and I get to write on a subject about which I am personally very passionate.
Becoming a personal trainer is one of the most rewarding jobs you can have. It is also an emerging market that has survived the recession and is expected to explode in the next few years as ‘Obama care’ takes effect and prevention becomes a key part of our healthcare system in America. It is above all else a profession that should be approached with respect and with the knowledge of what you are getting into and what will be expected of you.
The best moments in my professional career have come when I make a difference in an individual’s life. Whether it is a new trainer who gains confidence through my advice or a client who loses the weight they have been trying to get off for ages. These things mean the world to me, so it is with great pleasure that I write the book in anticipation that it may touch someone’s life in a positive manner.
While writing this book, I transitioned from an employed fitness manager at a corporate gym to a self-employed independent trainer. When I write about the struggles and obstacles associated with this career choice, I am writing from experience. Two things to remember in your pursuit of this career are never giving up and find the things that burn that fire inside you.
In this book, I bring you through getting started with your certification, how to choose the path of employee or self-employed and all the details of how to get started in each. In the final two steps, I will go over universal themes that will make you successful in whichever path you choose.
I encourage you to visit my business web site www.lexifit.com to see how I have used the tools laid out in this book to build a vibrant personal training business and brand. As you read the book, reference the website to see how I have built in many of the suggestions laid out in the book including scheduling software, leads production, ecosystem building, newsletter subscription and much more.
When I managed new trainers, I often suggested that they approach their training with a plan. This always got a better result for their clients and demonstrated a level of professionalism that is important. Use this book to develop a plan of action to start as a successful trainer. My hope is that I can make a difference in your life and in your pursuit of this noble career of helping others and staying healthy.
