Prologue

There are universally applicable laws of life which will work in every environment and culture. If you disrespect or disobey these laws you do so to your peril. If on the other hand you recognize these laws and apply them they will reward you richly and bless your life. Many fail because of the lack of wisdom, understanding and discretion.

Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore, get wisdom, and with all your getting, get understanding. Proverbs 4:7.

Wisdom and understanding are the primary gets we ought to seek because where these are present, every problem has a solution. It is tragic to live without wisdom or understanding.

Opportunity versus Opportunism

We must not confuse opportunity with opportunism. Opportunity creates a legitimate door into making progress or achieving something worthwhile in a positive way. One does not have to take unfair advantage of another in order to take advantage of opportunity. Opportunism on the other hand is about being sly or taking unfair advantage of another. An opportunist has no qualms about doing what is morally reprehensible so long as he gets what he set out to get. For the opportunist, the end justifies the means. This is not a God approved way of attaining success or making progress. The process matters to God and it should matter to you. Unfortunately, many have sent their consciences to sleep and have become ruthless opportunists. It never pays in the long run. The truth however is, there exist opportunities for everyone, including you, to become the very best God wants you to be.
