Chapter One
I had heard people say your life starts at twenty, I thought mine did but I was surely mistaken, mine began at twenty five… I just thought I was an average guy from an un average background. I never knew my father, and unfortunately my mother was a heavy drug taker and severe alcoholic she would always be out working late, we wasn’t close at all.
Mum died when I was Ten years old, she had a few too many one night and drove of the road the police man said. I took it hard at first it made me lash out! I would always get into fights growing up it was like I had something inside of me, taking control, something a bit demonic! Especially when I was angry.
Nan and granddad had been dead for years and mum had no siblings so after she died I got put into foster care, which was a horrible place I hated it, the other kids there were very cruel, they were so unfriendly especially to new comers, for the first few days the older kids tried to bully me but I would never let them, also most of the staff shouldn’t of been around children, they were moody, short tempered and didn’t watch over us well, but it wasn’t all bad… we got an almost comfy bed and a half decent meal every day.
But looking back on it now I’m glad I went, I learnt a lot there, like how to look after myself and how to deal with people in my own way, it made me a stronger person it made me who I am, and now I appreciate the bad times I had there.
One of mums favorite sentences used to be… every negative has a positive
and I never truly understood that till the day I left that poor excuse of a foster care home.
One of the positives that came from there was meeting Sam. My best friend, he was in care too, he arrived the day I planned to run away he looked really shy, timid and scared just like me on my first day, but he looked like a nice boy.
The following day after Sam arrived we were all in the playground for lunch, I was sat on my own in a corner minding my own business as usual until I saw Tommy picking on Sam, he was the oldest kid there and the school bully, I wasn’t sure if I should go and help him at first, but I did any way I went over and told Tommy to leave him alone or else… He didn’t listen so I pushed him to the ground and we never had trouble with him again, after that Sam and I shared bunk beds and became the best of friends.
We grew up together and did everything with one another, we were like brothers.
When Sam and I hit twenty we got a job and decided to move out of the foster care home and live together, Sam and I rented a small apartment it was great, we had a amazing time working and going out partying, Monday to Friday we worked nine to five then we were always out Friday till Sunday. A few months down the line It all changed, I met the love of my life Sarah at a night club.
Shortly after two months she became my girlfriend and the party life style cooled down, we had a brilliant but intense relationship, we spent roughly five amazing years together, she was beautiful, caring and really clever, after two year’s of being together we brought the apartment next to the one Sam and I shared and moved in to it, Sam stayed next door to us and came round most days, life was great.
We thought we had a whole future ahead of us Until that night… That one night that changed all our lives’ forever!
It was my twenty fifth birthday and It was a normal Friday night we didn’t have much planned, Sarah was working the night shift at the local restaurant, Sam and I got bored at home playing computer games, so we went to the local pub for a few nice cold beers. They went down a treat.
We left the pub and stood outside it was about twelve o’clock, I looked over at Sam to see him smiling at me, then go to reach in his pocket, I saw him pull out a ready rolled joint. He said whilst dangling the joint in front me hey Josh… Let’s have a sneaky one before we go home…!
Okay Sam just don’t let Sarah find out
I replied and laughed, as Sam and I were approaching the ally way next to the pub my phone rang I stopped and pulled out my phone it was Sarah, Sam continued down into the ally lighting the joint as he walked around the corner.
I looked down at my phone to see her picture as it continued to ring, I felt warm and happy inside. I left it to ring for a few more seconds to admire her beauty, her long silky blonde hair and piecing bright blue eyes and her kind happy face.
I answered the phone happily, we had a brief conversation about what Sam and I had been up to and what time she would be back from work, we said bye and I hung up the phone. I took a deep breath in and thought about seeing her later.
Just as I put the phone back into my jacket pocket, all of a sudden I could hear Sam shouting from the alleyway he sounded terrified…
I quickly turned around and ran to my friend after hearing him scream for help again, I got to the ally and turned around the corner but I suddenly got stopped in my tracks by a huge beast that stood before me!
It was huge! It didn’t look human at all… What the hell are you ?
I shouted.
He had Sam lifted off the ground tightly griped in his huge left hand. The creature looked down at me and his loud deep dark voice replied I am the Demon Natur! I’m a demon master, I’m here to take your friend Sam… To my Hell!
.
I immediately replied what no… Why? Let him go you bastard!
I didn’t know what to do or think so I did what I knew best… I grabbed a huge thick metal pole that was laying on the alleyway floor, I began to swing at the demon. But it was no use, the pole just bounced off him every time I hit him, he just stood there laughing at me with a big evil grin he didn’t flinch, it was like he didn’t even feel me repeatedly whacking him.
He looked like an
