About this ebook

Every radio station I have worked at, I have closed my show with words of God and good. And since joining Jay King and becoming the founder of the Jay King Network, I have again taken a role in prayer.

The original prayers were spoken and conceived by Jay Kings cousin, Anthony A. K. King, and after his departure from the show, it kind of fell in my lap, but I have no qualms in speaking about God and the wonderful world we have because of him.

The prayers are not in any particular order, but they may relate to something that may be current in the word, and you may be able to tell what things were going on based on the prayer.

In the event some of the prayers are repeated, maybe you need to see them again.

Again, thank you for your time and energy, precious moments they are, and Im glad youve shared them with me.

    First. Thank you for getting involved with my book, Prayers. I am honored that you took the time, just to look at it, and if you have purchased it, I am really appreciative.

    When I first started doing my radio broadcasting, back in 1968, I noticed quite a few radio announcers back then, had a closing. They also had an opening song, that related to who they were and what they did. Not all radio personalities had a sign off, but a lot did. Even if it were only, that’s the show, take care, or whatever.

    I wanted to be different. My mother was really religious and believed in God. She wasn’t a fanatic, (thank GOD), but she had her beliefs and she was a great woman. My closing at the beginning was:

    Believe in God, because God is Love & Love is the Shotgun. Shotgun was the name I used, because, I liked the record Shotgun by Jr. Walker & The All Stars. And I called myself Shotgun, not to be outdone by other announcers, back then in the late 60s. But a lot of things they did, that I found the listeners thought were irritating, I eliminated from my routine.

    My mother challenged my closing. She said to me, you are calling yourself God. I asked her what she meant. She gave me the equation, If A (GOD) equals B (Love) and B equals C (Shotgun), I was, calling myself God. So I had to change it. And it became—and LOVE is what the world needs now.

    Over the months that I was on, and through different cities, my end sign off became;

    Believe in God, because God is Love and Love is what the world needs now. Remember, in life nothing is guaranteed but the end of it. We are born to live and then we die. But in between birth, the beginning, and death, the ending—THE MIDDLE PART IS UP TO YOU;

    Then I would go into different subjects/topics, depending what was going on, and I’ve later learned those closing comments and rants inspired a lot of people. So many of the listeners/friends told me those words help changed their lives for the better, made them get off the paths of destruction they were on and more. For that I felt really good, that things that I said help to motivate and change people for the better.

    I added the nothing is guaranteed because my father had passed away, and it came from out of nowhere in my mind. I said, while my father was alive, trucks were rolling down the street. After my father died, trucks continue to roll down the street. I know my father, and my aunt did the things they wanted to do, so I didn’t figure they were robbed of any opportunity or points of pleasure. Very often, how you feel, what you do, what you think is on you. Find out how to get to those points, so you can smile inside, whether you are smiling outside to the world or not. Feel good about yourself. Fortify your thoughts with positive elements, and make yourself better. A better you, means EVERYONE AROUND YOU, WILL GET THE BENEFIT.
