About this ebook

People come and go in our lives. Over the years I have come to define those who touch our souls as heroes, mentors or friends, but in reality, I believe they are spiritual guides sent to us by a higher power. Once we recognize their inherent divinity and open to their influence, our spirits resonate at a higher level. Some call these special souls angels.
This book gives the reader a profound insight into these beings and their miraculous influence on our lives. Heartwarming stories of courage, small acts of kindness and most of all, love, will bring a better understanding of the power they derive from our Source.
Come share the miracle of synchronicity. Trust in the flow of Gods love as shown by these messengers of hope. You may discover that you too are making a difference in someones life as a Hero, Mentor or Friend.

John Dowd Jr. is a fifteen-year student of spiritual and new-age thinking. A twenty-five-year broadcaster and radio personality, he got his start on the air at sixteen years old in his hometown of Worcester, Massachusetts. John has also appeared on three national radio countdown shows, and since 1991 has programmed nine radio stations throughout America. Heroes, Mentors, and Friends is his first book. John share with his readers the profound lessons he has learned through Heroes, Mentors and Friends he has known or known of. He shares important thoughts on acquiring true success and happiness. We often wish we could put our life's learning and wisdom into another's head, but unfortunately we cannot. However, if through writing and sharing these types of things, the author even helps one person to avoid "pitfalls" and make better choices, then the work and effort is worth it. John is hoping many will read and learn from his life's experiences. This is very n0n-preachy and will even be enjoyed by the non-Christian audience, to gain peace and success. The book is a great reference book for those times we need reflection and guiding support. It is written very well by a man who has spent his whole life in the broadcasting industry. John shares many instances in his life - and the lives of others- when his choices could have been better and when his choices led him into a negative direction, how he corrected it. He offers strong suggestions of things to do to create a more positive life. It is at times a little beleaguered and repetitive, but still well worth reading.

Told with an abundance of true heart and soul, Heroes, Mentors and Friends is a heartfelt blend of both personal memoir and inspirational guide to living life to the fullest in a world full of inner and outer conflict and stress.John Dowd's wonderful ability to share his personal life stories and that of others as they navigate the tough terrain of existence will not only warm your heart, but bring back memories and have readers doing a little soul searching of their own. His natural talent for story telling will encourage you to once and for all take time to stop and smell the roses; a much needed path for us all to travel in this age of information overload, work and family obligations, and lives too filled with stress to find the time we need to simply just stop.I found John's enthusiasm and passion for his career in radio broadcasting both interesting and informative as he shows the reader a window into his soul, and what his life in radio does for him personally. His own passion can show you how important it is for one to love what they do and how that love can bring sincere happiness. His ability to live his life simply, eliminating complexity and avoiding falling into the materialistic black hole of consumerism, his family values and life ethics, all show a deeply authentic soul endeavoring to share his life's work and philosophy to all who are experiencing their own inner turmoil of life.John's views on both our inside and outside selves, and the psychology behind those dualities within each of us, can open us up to become more conscious of who we are and where we are going. He carefully shares with the reader how his own life has been affected by the power of ego and how the beauty of letting go of the outer world where society has gone haywire, can invoke a life of more inner peace. Through meditation, communing with nature, his belief in God and the workings of the universe, John Dowd has written a deeply thought-provoking book on the power of love, life, and becoming spiritual.Blending humorous antidotes, literary quotes, flashbacks from the 70s world of radio and television, and snapshots of his own personal failures and successes, John then pairs those ingredients with a unique inspirational guide that can teach us all how to become more at one with the universe and at peace with ourselves. This very special book is a rare find that warmed this reader's heart.
