    Setting up Camp

I knew it was going to be a great holiday from the moment I arrived at the camping ground. We saw all the familiar faces that we keep seeing year after year that come back to the same spot for their summer vacation. I see our friend Snakeman who we see every summer, but we don’t seem to see him much during the year. He is called Snakeman because he reckons he always sees snakes when we go on bushwalks. Hi I call out to him across the park, ‘G’DAY!’ he yells back enthusiastically, ‘I’ve gotta help set up’ he calls out, ‘I’ll see you tonight’, No worries I reply. I camp with my mate Dessy and his parents but I sleep in my dome tent by myself. The Harvey brothers also camp nearby. Darren, Glenn and Barry Harvey. We play sport with the Harvey brothers back at home. They are good guys, but very competitive, they hate to lose at anything, especially Barry he makes it a competition to walk to the shops. Marshy is another one of our friends who we play footy with back at home, he camps nearby and always has a big smile on his face. We call him Marshy because he loves toasting marshmellows on the fire and his tummy is a bit soft like a marshmellow.

Big Kev is another person who camps near us. He loves sitting in the afternoon sun in front of his Tv watching the cricket, not real camping if you ask me, but sometimes I sit and watch it with him if there is a good game on. He is called Big Kev because he is obviously quite large. Kev can be a little sarcastic from time to time. The Smiths also camp in the next row, they seem quite nice but maybe a little snobby. They always seem to have the very best of everything. Expensive new clothes and shoes, a big brand new caravan that looks as long as a semi—trailer and a top of the range 4 Wheel Drive.

There are also the Country bumpkins who camp in our
