About this ebook
How can a person have positive, productive days, which sometimes become weeks, and then without warning, experience negative, unproductive days which sometimes become weeks or longer? Is it just the ebb and flow of life, or is it based on our choices and decisions? Life is meant to be lived to its fullest, which is an option for all rational individuals. A Spirit Never Tires is based on the idea that when you are connected to your spirit, your choices and decisions are flowing and help you manifest the life you desire.

PREFACE
Who am I, and why this book?
Let me introduce myself, Jeffrey L. McGregor, MBA, CFP, CLU, also known as JMAC. I was born in Midland, Michigan in 1953 and am the first born of three children to Bruce & Jane McGregor. I grew up in a midwest, middle-class family. I was married for 28 years, am recently divorced, and have no biological children. My dream was to be a professional golfer, but there was one small problem, I wasn’t good enough. So, I pursued another path and spent the last 33 years in the financial services industry. During my career, I was President of three different sales and distribution companies. Which begs the question, why didn’t I write a book about sales, distribution and marketing with topics such as, Six Steps to a Quality Sales Call,
Successful Territory Management,
Client Segmentation,
Motivating Prospects to Become Clients
and Selling with a Purpose.
I would definitely be qualified to do so and have had numerous articles published in my professional field. Maybe someday I’ll write that book. For now, all my energy and passion is going toward A Spirit Never Tires, which goes beyond the business world and addresses a larger audience.
A Spirit Never Tires is about my questions, my life experiences and my observations of others while coaching and mentoring them to help find their path in life. At an early age, I remember asking the question, Who am I?
Lying in bed, I waited hours for the answer. When I received no reply, I asked again—still no reply came. The Who am I,
question stuck with me through grade school, my teens and into adulthood. My parents and teachers were unable to provide satisfactory answers, so the journey continued. I remember being told, not all questions can be answered.
I could not accept that answer and continued to ask and search.
When the great golfer Ben Hogan was asked his process for hitting repeatable golf shots, (Mr. Hogan is widely recognized as one of the top ball strikers of all time) he said the answer is in the dirt.
I, like Mr. Hogan, but without his amazing ball striking ability, sifted through the dirt in search of answers to life questions.
Before I go any further, let me apologize to the non-golfer for the numerous golf stories and analogies that you will encounter as you read the book. Golf has been one of my passions in life and has provided me with many life lessons. For the non-golfer, please be open to seeing the amazing overlap that golf and life share. Knowing yourself and your abilities, along with clearly defining what you want (executing the best shot for the situation), are key to winning on the golf course and also in the life game. In general, I enjoy both individual and team sports. If you miss a tackle in football, often another teammate is on the field to cover for the mistake. In golf, every player is on their own, and their actions and results are completely transparent for everyone to view and critique. Golf is all about self responsibility. Similarly, for you to live a full life and achieve all you want, self responsibility is an important factor, if not the most important, for attaining your life goals.
"Peace is your natural state. It is the mind
that obstructs the natural state."
– Sri Ramana Maharshi
Hindu spiritual master
(1879-1950)
Who Am I
This question has been asked since the dawn of civilization. When someone asks, Who are you?
what goes on in your head as you are formulating the answer? When describing who you are, you are consciously or unconsciously drawing a mental line of what is inside you (what you state as you) while at the same time everything outside your description is not-you.
What you are doing is sharing your current view of yourself at that point in time. Ones description of self can, and usually does, shift during a person’s lifetime. When a person believes that more is possible, often triggered by a positive experience, that person expands his or her view of who they are. This can occur by expanding belief in his or her abilities and/or eliminating self imposed limitations or false beliefs.
The following pages consist of my journey, along with many others that have been part of my life, to understand the human condition and answer the question, Who am I?
For this book, A Spirit Never Tires, the word spirit
is interchangeable with higher self,
soul
and true witness.
The spirit is invisible, nonmaterial and formless, but provides a direct link to the creative consciousness of the Universe. My goal was not to just write another book on the human potential movement, but to include actionable exercises and specific steps for readers to grow and add Increments of Betterment* along the journey.
In leading my teams, I’ve been one to have high belief and confidence in our collective ability to achieve success, and always asked all team members to believe that more is possible. One of the great joys of my life has been believing in others and helping them to believe in themselves. If you just read A Spirit Never Tires, you will gain some application to living a better life. If you read and do the exercises, you have the opportunity to change your life forever and accomplish far more than you may have imagined. A Spirit Never Tires is designed to help you connect with your powerful, loving spirit to access the unlimited choices that await a connected individual.
*Increments of Betterment: How often have you made quick, big improvements in your life? Maybe a few of you have been lucky enough to have that experience. For most, life is usually improved with small achievements or Increments of Betterment.
If you take a penny and double it every day for thirty days, you will have more than $1 million dollars. This illustrates the power of compounding. IOB is about building off small accumulated wins to establish a base foundation for future gains. These wins and gains become part of your being. They influence how you engage with others and the actions you take in living a full and productive life. Compounding the right thoughts, life choices and actions is the optimum path to achieving your dreams!
Waking Up and Embracing All You Can Be
When connected to your spirit, the amazing life that you were given and meant to live starts to unfold. Question—Do we think our way through life with just our brain or mind? Do you ever feel there is more to you? Could it be your higher self? It begs rehashing of the long time question and conflict between reason and faith. Reason is based on science, and faith is based on belief. The great philosopher St.Thomas Aquinas tried to show the harmony between faith and reason by explaining that faith builds on reason. Since faith and reason are both ways of arriving at truth, and since all truths are harmonious with each other, faith is consistent with reason. If we understand faith and reason correctly, there will be no conflict between what faith tells us and what reason tells us. I also believe the two can coexist in the twenty-first century, as many individuals are searching for more in their lives and do not want to be tied to old dogma or just accept that a separation must exist between reason and faith.
Just as science can’t prove whether God exists or doesn’t exist, the same is true of the spirit. My personal view is that an infinite and generous source exists, that it is highly evolved, aware of all possibilities, and available to anyone willing and open to connecting with it. Your wonderful spirit and the powers of the Universe Co-Create
what you want to manifest in your life.
"Spirit has fifty times the strength and
staying power of brawn and muscle."
– Mark Twain
American humorist, writer and lecturer
(1835-1910)
Beyond the Known
With everything that she endured, how could Anne Frank say, In spite of everything, I still believe that people are basically good at heart.
How about Will Rogers’ famous statement, I never met a man I didn’t like.
Anne Frank and Will Rogers didn’t say that human beings
