Let’s Really Live Before We Die!

This book is dedicated to my family and friends who have blessed my life with amazing love and grace. I truly thank God for each one of you. I am eternally grateful to know we will spend eternity together because of God’s love and grace for us through Jesus His Son. Jesus Christ is the tie that binds us together.

The love, laughter and wisdom that we have shared have added to my life more than you can imagine.

    Introduction

"Men swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. Because God wanted to make an unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, He confirmed it with an oath. God did this by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie; we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, (our heart) where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.

    Hebrews 6:16-20 (NIV)

"But because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priest hood. Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them.

Such a high priest meets our need-one who is holy, blameless, pure and set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens."

    Hebrews 7:26 (NIV)

For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance-now that He has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

    Hebrews 9:15 (NIV)

Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

    Philippians 1:6 (NIV)

Heirs of God or saints are mere men or women, saved by grace, through faith. No one can earn or purchase salvation for their self or anyone else. Salvation is a gift from God. In fact, the only good in us is Christ Jesus. We are still learning, each of us are on our justification journey. Inscribed on Ruth Ann Graham’s head stone are the following words carved in stone:

End of Construction, thank you for your patience. What a great analogy, of any Christian life; we all fall down and Jesus picks us back up. When we have completed our journey, our days of growing are finally finished. At that exact time God calls us home.

As I share genuine accounts of my life with you, I ask you to remember God has a sense of humor. He has expressed it my life! I love to laugh and hope you do too. If not, this book may not be for you. God bless you as you giggle. I hope you’ll also find God’s fulfilling and meaningful blessings in your life, as I have in mine. If you should shed a few tears, just keep in mind that especially in the hard times, my Heavenly Father makes no mistakes and everything in life works together for the good to all those who seek Him.

May God bless and keep you in His Will. black.jpg

    Chapter One

    Hog Heaven

Mark, Mark, Wake Up! Come on, we have to hurry.

    Huh, what’s the matter?

Lots of motor cycles are coming. Get up; we have to get out of here before they see us!

Kathy, lay back down, I told you no one even knows about this place.

Jolted by the approaching roar, his dreamy blue eyes flipped open, immediately he sat straight up. O MG, you weren’t kidding!

A hundred Harley Hogs saddled with one hundred and fifty rough riders came charging at us! Some of them were whooping and yelling, as they encircled us, others were slapping their chaps and yelling,Yeah, Hey- way to go! All of them were laughing their hinnies off, as Mark and I jumped up. I grabbed the sheet we were laying on and wrapped it around my sun burnt butt.

Sweating like two soon to be roasted pigs, we ran for our lives. I really wondered if we would both end up hog tied and killed before this adventure was over. We dodged bikers and pickers while running through huge dust clouds. What was wrong with me? I was scared to death but I loved the rush of adrenaline! I even giggled, as this chubby dew ragged biker with a scraggly, long red beard belted out, Whoa, Toga Momma and Bare Naked Papa!

As I reached for the door handle, I glanced back and captured what would be a lifetime image of Mark, running as fast as his little legs could carry him. He resembled Barney Rubble, gingerly, dodging pickers and trying to cover his family jewels. One hand held my tennis shoes which were covering his privates in the front. While the other hand swayed from side to side, as he tried to hide his hairy little hinny in the rear. That treasured memory is worth more than a thousand words!

Dust covered like two filthy pigs who had just escaped a mortal lynching we snapped the door locks down. We looked at each other and busted out laughing. Then we reached over the front seat, and grabbed our clothes from the back seat. Like Adam and Eve we were trying to cover our nakedness.

After the bikers rode off, we put on our clothes on as fast as we could. We eliminated that place from our favorite picnic areas on state land. But what a sunny fun memory for a few of the gloomy days a head!

As a new bride I had promised myself that I would always make my marriage as fun and as adventurous as I possibly could. I have never accepted a boring life. And I certainly have never wanted to be a boring wife.

Our first summer as husband and wife seemed to be one adventure after another. That particular day we had taken a meal from McDonald’s, a Frisbee and a sheet to lie on. This spot is out in the middle of nowhere between Greenville and Sydney Michigan. It’s off a country road, way back in the woods. It was just an open field in the tall soft grass.

Mark assured me that no one even knew about this place. And the likeliness of anyone being out there on a sunny Thursday afternoon, we thought was almost impossible. Unfortunately, those bikers must have had the same thought. Or maybe somewhere out there, beyond the tall pine trees, was a place where they grew their perfect weed.

God has always protected me from funny strange events that could have gone terribly wrong. I often wonder if He has extra angels watching over me. Maybe God has even said to a few of the saints who have already gone home, Imagine what will happen next!

Maybe some of my ancestor’s even chuckle as the inevitable happens. Others, well they probably look at the wildest ones and say things like, That apple didn’t fall far from the family tree did she? Others may say, Evolution-Are you kidding me, they haven’t learned a thing!

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangled, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for
