About this ebook

Undoubtedly growing up during the Vietnam War, water gate and gas shortages can have a profound effect on a child. Also being the son of immigrant parents most certainly can lead to a traumatizing clash of cultures and the understanding of right and wrong. With that being said the Remington Company gave me the honor of a lifetime by letting me express my thoughts in unison with telling the brilliant stories of professionals around the world. As I wrote endlessly 24 hours a day I realized that our world is full of hope and real promise. I realized that it wasnt about war, ideology and the pursuit of global domination. I realized that in the pages of this great book great things were about to happen if only these stories can be made public. I realized that I had the opportunity of a lifetime by expressing the Humanitarian attributes that these professionals continually made. After many years of writing I realized that the Remington Company had a distinct and noble purpose and perhaps we could not change the present but we could certainly try to change our future. With that we created our Mentorship Program which gets these prolific stories out to the children. We wrote the stories with zest but never crossed the line of respect or dignity. We wished to capture the hearts of our audience and prove to them that giving was not an option but more so our duty as life forms on our planet. Today our book has a theme Inspiring the youth of America. This theme was our way of telling the world Lets hold hands and prepare our children for a better life. today I continue to write for the Registry. My life has irrevocably changed for the better. I volunteer for any thing all the time. I enjoy moments of quiet and the appreciation of our environment. I read these biographies in amazement as everyone else does and it never seems to get uneventful. Either way I sincerely hope you enjoy these biographies and use them to strengthen your spirit and confidence about our existence as a species on this planet. I patiently wait for divine intervention in order to write my next biography and am happy to serve the brilliant members of the Remington Registry of Outstanding Professionals.

    Introduction

Here at Remington it has become clearly evident that mediocrity was not a path chosen by anyone in this book. It has also become vividly apparent that humanitarian contribution was a common theme in the lives of many of these professionals and as a company we made it our primary objective to recognize those contributions first and foremost. Although the foundation of our company is based on networking and mutual collaboration we felt it was our moral obligation to assist in any way we can the professionals who demonstrated extreme self-sacrifice and compassion for others. We would also like to mention that our staff went to great personal length to get the fine details of each and every person in this book. We pride ourselves in offering much more than a registry and a basic summary of each professional. We encourage you the reader to immerse yourself in the lives of others. Experience the joy, pain, adversity, fear and heroism of some of the most brilliant professionals on our planet. Speaking for myself and the staff of the Remington Registry of Outstanding Professionals we hope you enjoy reading our book and it is our sincere desire that you draw inspiration from it and use it as a tool when relentlessly pursuing your dreams.

    Thank you,

    John Ficarra

When you put yourself out to replace someone, this gains positive notice. From the start, save and invest a portion (10%) of your income and let it have babies. Success is not random. Have a plan but be flexible to improve on it. Beware of giving an unthought-out yes answer. When asked for one, ask for time, and check it out. Such requests are often fraught with hidden, not-immediately-apparent consequences.

Keys to Success: A loving, supportive spouse; an earned reputation for honesty and reliability.

Hobbies: Family time, reading, classical music, live theater, astronomy, and travel (ecotravel to see interesting animals, plants such as bristlecone pines, and phenomena, such as solar eclipses).

Joanne D. Denko, a psychiatrist and an author, had parents with a strong moral compass, interest in reading, and high scholastic expectations for her. She was fortunate to grow up in the country, on the shores of Lake Michigan, and attended a three-room country school where she was partially tutored. Part of the time she was home-schooled, when the family had to travel for the father’s work. In high school she was stimulated in a literacy direction by a teacher, Edith Hogue Kendall. She had the good fortune to meet her husband-to-be in medical school. Charles was already a biochemist and had served in the army (see his biography). They were married while in medical school and graduated together. As an already respected scientist, he was able and happy to support and encourage her activities, medical and other. He taught her how to write scientific papers, which she intended to do with her new insights. As the pair had children, three active sons, Joanne’s life began to run on three parallel tracks: as a wife and mother, as a practicing psychiatrist, and as an author, first with papers in psychiatric journals, later with several books that interface with psychiatry such as her survey on the topic of envy. She considered herself an eclectic psychiatrist, taking what is relevant and useful from different schools, and leading patients in techniques of self-discovery, and growth, including intellectual growth, for she feels that a mind is a terrible thing to waste. Joanne also shows a fascination with words and collects unusual homonyms. Where a word did not exist for her purpose, she has created two such words, from the Greek roots.

As their children were born, Joanne realized that unique poetry-worthy experiences are given to mothers, and she questioned why we do not find many mother/poets. She tried writing a poem on the thoughts and emotions of carrying a pregnancy, submitted it to a contest, and won first place, plus a letter of encouragement from the judge. Over the years she wrote other poems suggested by experiences with children, not all happy ones, and these became a mother/child poetry book. Having chosen psychiatry because it lies at the interface of the soft science of psychiatry and the humanities, Joanne joined a Great Books Discussion Group, belonged for forty years, and led it the second twenty. With a little free time she is now reading world classics (in translation) such as Galileo’s Dialogue of the Two World Systems and Copernicus’s On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Bodies.

While Charles was pursuing his biochemical studies, he often presented a paper in a rheumatology congress, and Joanne usually accompanied him, sometimes with one or more children. They would allow extra time for vacationing and exploring the area where these meetings were held. In Leningrad Charles sought out the Scythian gold artifacts from 500 B.C. in the Heritage museum. He studied and wrote about the depiction of arthritis in an engraving on one of these.

Beginning with what Charles called traveling without slides the family camped up and down the AlCan highway to Alaska and the Yukon. Such trips were often oriented to wildlife and included, where possible, a child or two. They visited baby seals on the ice in the St. Lawrence, gorillas in central Africa, Komodo dragons in Indonesia, penguins in Antarctica, the Great Barrier Reef (while on Charles’ sabbatical in Australia), bristlecone pines in California, the world’s deepest lake, Lake Baikal, in Siberia, and, Charles’ final trip, the Northwest passage from Resolute to Provideniya, Russia, while the 9/11 terrorist attack was happening at home. Thus Dr. Denko has been to seven continents and sailed the Seven Seas. She has hiked in mountains, including the Himalayas. She has helped on archaeological digs and was allowed to keep a dinosaur tooth from one of them. Joanne believes that many people fail to see the marvels and beauties of their own surroundings, such as a butterfly or a flower. Joanne is fascinated by the cosmic universe, and when in places without light pollution, the starry sky; she will get up in the middle of the night when the mists from the lake clear, to see the Milky Way.

Joanne tries to encourage others to expand their horizons, to encounter new and different aspects of our wonderful and man-made world. We at Remington second her efforts.

Our biochemist/physician, researcher, practitioner, teacher, Charles W. Denko, in the mid-twentieth century generated knowledge at the forefront of what was then a largely unexplored specialty of medicine, rheumatology, breaking ground in our understanding of arthritis and related connected tissue diseases and, by life’s end, pointing the way toward future research in causes and strategies to benefit sufferers with these disorders.

    charles%20denko%202.jpgcharles%20denko%203.jpg

Encouraged by his professor, mentor, and friend, A.K. Anderson, Ph.D., who was wheelchair-bound, to look for new gold compunds for arthritis, Charles began a fifty-year search to delve into the biochemical abnormalities of the many kinds of arthritis and ways to correct them. As he approached the end of his life, his findings began to be noticed as important, and others have been working to carry forward our understanding of these complicated interactions. It is a reward for any scientist to know that his work is not only living on but growing after him.

Between his Ph.D. and his M.D., despite being 4F because of a shortened leg from polio in childhood, Charles enlisted in the army, where he studied the effect of army rations on healthy young men (COs) and was honored by being asked for his photographic portrait for a collection of 400 major contributors to medicine since the Renaissance, by the Army Medical Library. Never in or near combat, and, as a sanitation officer, never carrying a weapon, in the Occupation he supervised sanitation in displaced persons camps. He repatriated thirty Jewish orphans, finding relatives with whom to place them. Under guard he smashed used penicillin bottles to keep them out of the hands of unscrupulous black marketeers who wanted them to sell fake penicillin. He was offered rank of major when he mustered out to go to John Hopkins Medical School on the GI Bill.

Dr. Denko is not among us today but is immortalized by his groundbreaking research. His book-length biography (in hard cover and e-book) by his window is available at Cypress House in Fort Bragg, California.

Here at Remington we find that brilliant professionals share a certain commonality that drives them to outstanding achievement. It seems that each professional is pushed to the brink and at that point they encounter a moment in their lives where sheer disappointment leads to an explosion and pure obsession with changing the world and correcting the inabilities of society. In each case we find an individual who would rather turn and fight against all odds than role over and consent to defeat. We find individuals that are willing to endure any adversity and in doing so recruit many followers that participate in their quest. In the career of Claire Power Murphy this is absolutely the case. Claire’s journey starts with sickness in her family and in her own life. Being misdiagnosed has had a traumatizing effect on her and circumstantially led her to seek new cures and forms of rehabilitation. Claire doesn’t do anything half heartedly. She is a powerhouse of human ingenuity and her creative and iinnovative prowess has driven her to the top of the alternative healthcare community. Claire, an educator by nature set out to change the world. With her spiritual strength and her daughters’ disability to spur her, Claire spent years investigating all methods of alternative healing. Claire started a program called Expanding Horizons which spear headed the nutritional needs of the students later, with multiple media and programming interviews. Claire was able to reach a much wider audience. She hit the trail and founded her self rejuvenation center. Claire, with her in depth intuition and investigating prowess built her case on the inept ability of the hospitals to detect obvious inefficiency in blood and vitamin abnormalities. Through her own illness she was able to balance her own chemistry and ultimately strengthen her immune system. Claire is a member of a staggering amount of affilitions. Her self-rejuvinating center has helped many of people and is nationally recognized. Claire has a multitude of popular nutritional books and videos available to the public. She is delivering mankind into the 21st century and her efforts will change life as we know it for generations to come. Today Claire reflects on the arduous journey behind her. Today is a special day and perhaps a profound change on how we perceive happiness and career accomplishment. Today is a day where we realize that anything in life that you put your heart into can only result in success and no one demonstrates this better than Janet Williams. For over 37 years she has streamlined a very complicated area of government service. Janet has unraveled the geographic nightmares of her community. Her serious side is profoundly felt when work has to get done, and proper permits need to be adhered to. Truthfully speaking, Janet’s biography can strictly be a depiction of a professional with infinite academics and credentials. But we here at Remington only see her enormous benevolence first and foremost. Janet has been giving her whole life to the Girl Scouts of America. Here at Remington, we recognize that the road to the 21st Century is led through the doors of our educational system. It has become clearly evident that making the same mistake will surely result in the same outcome. It’s purely up to a few brave individuals who are not afraid to buck the system and spearhead society’s most difficult challenges. Prominent educational pioneer Dr. AvaJane Pickering has been the beaming light of hope for every parent since she founded her learning institutions along with her late sister in 1974. Undoubtedly global peace, prosperity, eliminating disease, poverty and oppression starts with an effective learning system that adapts to each student. Here at Remington it’s professionals like AvaJane that make us realize that it is not the children with the disability it’s the educational system. AvaJane and her sister, pioneered a system using Brain Therapy and other developments. Brain Therapy is a form of mental conditioning in order to prepare the students for life and for learning. AvaJane has spent a lifetime developing new programs and a variety of learning and interactive tools. AvaJane is recognized and certified on every level of government for her expertise. But AvaJane and her sister are not simply another biographical success story. AvaJane is a part of American history. Her stellar academics was only a small part of her success. With fierce determination she set out and established the SEPS Learning Center, with the help of her sister. We can only imagine the two of them on a quest to help the disabled children in a time when educators ignored these students. AvaJane relentlessly approached investors from all over the world. She reached out and advocated on behalf of the children. Her heart-wrenching story only made more prolific with the fact that her sister was by her side the whole way. AvaJane and her sister were inseparable and quite possibly this story is more a tribute to their unity than anything else. With our loss of EvaJean, AvaJane’s sister, from thousands of miles away we can feel the state of Utah mourning along with the rest of our nation. Simply put, these two sisters, arm in arm went on to change the world and succeeded. The end result is thousands of changing and new methods of learning and not just for children. From Preschool, to Behavioral issues, to national curriculum requirements, AvaJane has been involved in it all. Her list of awards is staggering and it’s quite possible to miss a few. Today AvaJane carries her sister’s integrity in everything she does. In many ways they were always together and their union is bonded by something far more than their physical being. Undoubtedly, their efforts will be felt for centuries to some and certainly they are immortalized in our registry as pure revolutionaries in education. AvaJane believes in small groups. She offers many areas of curriculum and her innovative nature quickly adapts to almost any circumstance. Today Ava’s teachings are being adopted all over the world, and 37 years later AvaJane still modifies every aspect of learning. Undoubtedly building the 21st Century is not for the weak of heart and AvaJane stands on the frontlines of a promising new century. AvaJane’s pioneering skills and her courage to change a desperately outdated system is what we admire most and we very much welcome her into the Remington Registry family.

Motto: We most replace the love for power with the power of love. Go and find out. Students’ errors demark the frontiers of their understanding The purpose of education is to push back the frontier of ignorance by increasing understanding

Advice to the Youth of America: Always do the best you can in everything you undertake. Keep your options open. Be willing to try new things with mutual safety in mind. Know that your uniqueness makes you special. Become intensely observant, pay more attention to what is going on around on than anyone else. Always remember, anything you do to cause other people harm creates enemies. Don’t let the marketplace distract you. The spiritual part of you and of life is more important to you and to the Universe than the material gains you make in anything you undertake. Finally, your life is what you make it.

Here at Remington we realize that the 21st century will be loaded with challenges both foreseen and unforeseen. Undoubtedly the generations of tomorrow will need an educational system that can keep up with the complex and fast pace changes of a whole new society. Spawned from the roots of social services prominent and highly regarded CEO James C. Powell is an advocate of better education. Here at Remington as Americans we are witnessing our great culture and dominance as a world power quite possibly slipping away with every breath of complacency we take. It’s time for a great man with epic vision and the ability to inspire a nation to reinvent an ailing system. James over the course of 50 years has stood by one profound belief. That is that everyone has the potential to reach great heights and most certainly it’s the educational system with a disability not the student. James is a professional who knows how to attack a problem from multiple angles. His techniques and theories are the farthest thing from mainstream. James uses visual description to open the minds and hearts of his students. He works with educators all over the world and truly lives by the motto Don’t be afraid to change. Undoubtedly the definition of insanity is making the same mistake over and over and expecting a different result. James, with his stellar academics and intuitive insight spent years researching, testing techniques and common traits in questioning methods. As a result, he has made profound discoveries in how we evolve through adolescence and learning. Dr. Powells life and career go far deeper than a cold-hearted resume. and infinite credentials. He spent untold hours seeking out the very essence of human development. Dr. Powell has meticulously investigated every aspect of not just our students curriculum and learning techniques, but the environment in which they learn, and the forces of society in which these students are thrust into. In many ways Dr. Powell has concerned himself with so much more than books and subject matter. He has peered into the human soul and the results are mind-boggling. Dr. Powell wants our students not to fear failure and to embrace a mistake as an opportunity to improve oneself. He wants students to learn how to think independently by means of self-awareness techniques. He is building a world full of Neil Armstrongs, and his approach starts with special testing. Dr. Powell in many ways is a pioneer, and a revolutionary at the same time. He has broken the chains of thousands of years of oppression that starts at birth. Dr. Powell is lifting our spiritual potentials and unveiling a side of us that many are completely unaware of. Jay is a man on a mission who can make more progress for mankind than billions of untold dollars that is poured into education on a daily basis. Dr. Powell is creating a future generation of thinkers. He is turning peasants into kings, or shall we say followers into leaders. Dr. Powells testing techniques are the route of a global uprising in education that many countries are now incorporating into their daily routine. Dr. Powell warns that we as a nation need to wake up or perhaps we will find ourselves slipping even further down the economic chain. Here at Remington we are committed to doing anything we can to promote encouragement for the youth of America. Dr. Powell has made us shockingly aware that 62% of every student is mis-classified. Even a partial reduction in this figure could have a profound impact on a nation’s future. Here at Remington we are committed to doing anything we can to promote encouragement for the youth of America. It seems that these troubled students are entrenched with so many societal issues and we believe that higher education and pursuing academics should not have barriers. Dr. Powell is exactly the professional that we as a multimillion dollar company have focused our intentions in recognizing. We ask him to lead us through the darkness as we proudly follow in his footsteps and welcome his inclusion.

Here at Remington we realize in a typical registry of Who’s Who professionals with enormous wealth and resources dominate any prestigious book. At that point it becomes clearly obvious what the quality of the book represents and the depth of the integrity of the publication. It also becomes obvious that the book more than likely has no ethical value, and its ability to inspire the Youth of America becomes obsolete at best. Here at Remington we defy temptation and put the needs of our planet and our children ahead of our greed. In so, we shine the spotlight on brilliant professionals who endure unimaginable environments to protect our ecosystem and truly build us a 21st century we can live and breathe in. Dr. Rob Moir, Executive Director and President of the Ocean River Institute, is in the business of saving lives, but we are talking about a hundreds,a millions or a billions. We are talking about our planet with trillions of species and infinite life forms. Robs responsibility is on an unthinkable magnitude. He knows that where there is water there is usually life. Rob has spearheaded issues that have plagued us for centuries. Contaminated waste disposal problems have threatened life across our planet, and have created health hazards for all of us. Rob loves a challenge and unfortunately there are plenty to go around. He was instrumental in cleaning up Boston Harbor and in implementing General Management Plans for both the Boston Harbor Island National Park Area and for Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary off the coast of Massachusetts. Today Mr. Moir lives an incredible life. His life is the farthest thing from a 9 to 5 professional in a windowless office. He travels the world in some of the most inhospitable environments. He visits lakes, swamps, rivers, oceans, salt ponds, shores and even goes offshore out onto the ocean out of sight of land. Rob is frequently asked to head-up various causes and speak on behalf of various affiliations. Dr. Moir is known in Washington for his expert testimonials as well as in state and local governments. He has worked as a schoolteacher, curated museums and is an advocate for historical and natural preservation. But perhaps Robert’s greatest quality is his ability to unite people for a worthy cause. It seems that Dr. Moir’s passion for all life is highly contagious. People such as us here at Remington gather around him and realize how important his efforts are to all of our futures. We realize how empty our lives are without our little friends and know that their companionship is God’s greatest gift to us. Today Robert works feverishly around the clock. He rarely stands still in one place and undoubtedly with catastrophes happening to nature all too frequently, we can only imagine his schedule. At this point Dr. Moir’s life is an inspiration for our youth, and perhaps this is his greater purpose. He is not just building healthy ecosystems, but a global 21st century and perhaps a global family which includes all of us even our wildlife. Most of all Rob Moir is an advocate of life and a concerned citizen and activist. He can not speak to a nation, but he can set an example we can all follow. At this point, we at Remington draw the line in the sand against pollution, and industrial irresponsibility. We endorse anything Rob Moir puts his mind to and stand along side him with desperate aspirations to save our planet. Dr. Moir has an enormous task ahead of him, we can only imagine the daily issues he must face, and truthfully we hope there is an answer out there for him to find. We wish him God-speed in everyway and very much welcome his inclusion.

Here at Remington we recognize thousands of artists. Each one has their own inherent talents. Many of them make us stop in our tracks with admiration. For most artists years of experience cannot replace a gift only few among attain. That gift is an unwritten and unforeseen ability to turn us inside out emotionally and undoubtedly artists like Abigail Chance have done just that. Abigail’s portraits in our opinion are simple and complex at the same time. Her portraits offer us an ordinary moment with an extraordinary essence. Abigail’s art has been exhibited nationwide. Many Manhattan penthouses and contemporary settings are enhanced by the addition of Abigail’s paintings. Her art enriches any modern art collection. For over 40 years Abigail has been awarded and recognized. Here at Remington we revel in the moment of recognizing her work. And for the first time find it difficult to actually describe how her work makes us feel and how it affects others. All we can say is that living in New York we are accustomed to viewing priceless works and consider Abigails art among the best. She has a curious and perhaps unconventional way to attack our senses. We find turning away to be quite challenging and every additional glance only offers an array of new perception. As you may know Abigail born in Texas is the furthest thing from a hobbyist. She has traveled the world and has a mystic that follows her that has left us all in wonderment. Abigail academically has gone the distance but she is so much more than a cold list of credentials. She blends color, form, function, and movement like none other. She brings Manhattan, Paris and Morocco to canvas. She shares high fashion with Sherbert coloring and then accents it all with a summer breeze. Confused do you say? Maybe so and perhaps we are a little also. In the end this adventurous spirited creative pioneer has captivated us and we have fully enjoyed it. We selfishly describe our own thoughts and formally apologize for doing so. We wish it to be known that Abigail is a student of all art and sciences as well as a leader. Her concerns run deep into our environment and the youth of America. We also feel that its time for professionals like Abigail to have their moment in sun based on their ability to inspire the youth of America we take a moment to honor Abigail on this day April 2012 with our Lifetime Achievement Award. After years of nomination and after reviewing 60 thousand biographies Abigail was the clear choice to ignite the artistic passion of our youth. She will proudly enter our Mentorship Program as well as being invited to the top few pages of our historical 2012 extended volume publication. We officially and respectfully induct her into our hall of creative hero’s and we confidently endorse any advice she offers. We also would like to mention that Abigail does not crave recognition nor reward. She, as the rest of us believes in mentorship and diligently wants to encourage future generations. We offer her our highest honor and welcome her inclusion.

Here at Remington we recognize that earning the trust and respect of a nation can only come with many years of hard work and self sacrifice. 30 years ago a young man with a thirst for science and an adventurous spirit walked through the doors of history and never looked back. Dr. Douglas J. Chadbourne Retired Colonel U.S.A.F. started his career by offering his life and in many ways never stopped. With missions to Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iraq, Germany, Kenya and South Korea, Douglas is one of the most respected medical professionals in our nation today. As Medical Director he has a staggering list of daily responsibility which starts by screening some of the most critical personnel in Transportation Security Administration and various other contracts. His educational background is overwhelming to say the least and he is sought after internationally for consultation and advice. Dr. Chadbourne’s roots are in toxicology and stem from there in all scientific directions. He is an expert in industrial hygiene and undoubtedly with nuclear reactors springing up all over the world, his experience is an indispensable part of global safety. Truthfully there are few words to describe Dr. Chadbourne. It’s one thing to risk your life for your country and its another to actually do it repeatedly for years. We can only say that hanging out of an H-60 Helicopter is something few among us have the courage to do. Douglas as a flight Surgeon for almost 20 years undoubtedly has an appreciation for life that many of us need to adapt. After writing thousands of biographies it has become crystal clear that Dr. Chadbourne’s biography was the one we preferred best to inspire the youth of America and certainly encourage injured military veterans to pursue academics. Dr. Chadbourne offered us his distinguished honorary discharge papers and let’s just say his many awards were difficult to document. Douglas received awards for almost every purpose. Today here at Remington we realize that a tenacious child with a rheumatic illness was spurred to achieve brilliance and save the lives of perhaps thousands either directly or indirectly. We proudly and humbly accept the honor of recognizing this imperative part of our healthcare and military professions. Douglas has proven to all of us that there truly is no end to what any of us can do. Today we officially recognize Dr. Chadbourne as a Lifetime Achievement Award winner. This honor is a reflection of his ability to inspire any impressionable youth to pursue higher education or service to our nation. Dr. Chadbourne opens a new era where great leaders can have a direct connection through a national media and mentorship program. A new era where a child need not look far to find a role model. A new era where a single parent can read a biography to a child that will have a profound effect on their future. Here at Remington we knew enough not to pass him by and undoubtedly he deserves our highest honor and we welcome his inclusion.
