I wish to Thank God, who inspired and motivated me to write this book.
I want to thank my husband, Larry, who supported me throughout this undertaking. A special thank you to my sisters: Ruth, author of two books, Shirley, Sue, and Linda; and brother Max for their ongoing support.
In addition, my daughter-in-law, Dannelle and her friend Linda Kozar, also authors, for their wonderful creative guidance. Thanks to my fellow dog-lover friend, Shirley LePlante for her sketch of Fancy.
Finally, to my sons, Tom and Kelly who actually thought their Mom could never write a book!

We would spend a glorious week catching up with each other; walking along the beach, shopping, eating at wonderful seafood restaurants and even do some fishing at a nearby ocean pier.
This summer trip was different. My daughter, Joan, and her new husband were flying in from Texas to meet my relatives. My husband had stayed in Texas, as he jokingly said, to look after the pooches.
Joan was a favorite niece of my family so when she announced that she was bringing her husband this year to meet her relatives, they were delighted at the prospect.
It was a fun time – the week went by too fast, and it was time to say goodbye. Little did I know that when I hugged her and kissed her goodbye, that it would be the last goodbye I
