About this ebook

After having her submissive nature revealed without her permission, Gina Ybarra is hypervigilant to keep her sexual preference for women firmly in the closet. But the hostile takeover of the company she works for has turned all of Gina’s ideas upside down. At first playing with her female Dominant boss was just role playing to save the company from ruin. But the unthinkable happened and now, Gina has to decide if her fear of her family’s rejection is stronger than the feelings she has for Reena.

Reena Barrett is an expert at keeping her real feelings hidden, including the hurt from Gina’s constant need to hide their relationship. When their task to save their jobs becomes more involved, Reena decides it’s better to let Gina go rather than keep wishing for what couldn’t be. But the company is still at risk and Reena gives Gina an ultimatum that could end their friendship and their working relationship. Reena needs to know how deep Gina’s desire to submit will go.

Jennifer Leeland

New York Times best selling author Jennifer Leeland has been telling stories since she was very young. Most people were so small minded as to call it lying until she was able to put her stories on paper. Now they call it fiction. To know what she writes, you have to know that the first question she asks about a book or movie is "Does it have a happy ending?". If it doesn't, she's not interested. Her love of kinky people and kinky stuff has led her to write about relationships that are slightly bent and probably flawed. You can always count on two things with a Jennifer Leeland book: angst and kink. She lives with a Redneck, who loves to brainstorm with her on occasion and her two hulking teenagers in the Northern California Boonies. She is also a moderator for the award winning writer's forum Romance Divas where I've been a member since 2006.To learn more you can go to http://jenniferleeland.com

    Chapter One

Being a hardcore submissive sucked. How had she gotten this drunk? By drinking, that’s how. Gina Ybarra stared at the amber liquid in her shot glass and then tossed it back. It burned. But the whiskey didn’t cleanse away the doubt, the pain, or the frustration.

The problem wasn’t the bar. This place was her comfort zone. Anonymous or intimate, all the hookups here had the kinky flavor she liked. It wasn’t the company. She was here with her two best friends in the world, two of the three who knew exactly who—and what—she really was. It wasn’t Vegas. The gaudy lights and thin veneer weren’t enough to get Gina to throw herself a pity party. She had to admit, if only to herself, it was the new employee fraternization clause that had led to this maudlin mood.

She’d worked for Reena Barrett for five years, and they’d managed to keep their office relationship professional and their friendship close. It was the takeover that had fucked it all up. The takeover that had led to Sunsoon employees becoming ConFed employees and signing an employee agreement that included that fraternization clause.

Even Nell, Gina’s normally staid and most reliable friend, had the damn thing in her purse as if she’d been studying it. Nell had known it by heart when Gina and Tori had teased her earlier.

What did it say? Something about a D/s relationship or something? It was weird. Tori was amused, but Gina froze. She had barely read the employee agreement with ConFed.

I’ve got it right here, Nell said and reached in her bag.

Tori shook her head. Don’t you ever stop working?

Let me see that. Gina snatched the papers away. Yep. Here it is. ‘If any employee of ConFed declares themselves available for a Dominant/submissive relationship within the confines of company policy, they shall be employed by the most senior officer for such a relationship.’ Can you imagine? She laughed. Being sold to the highest bidder? Or in this case, the highest-ranked officer. Could either of her best friends hear the longing and desperation in Gina’s voice?

That’s not what it says, Nell said and met Gina’s gaze. Gina attempted to appear amused, though really she wasn’t. It has several stipulations that imply the relationship must be consensual.

Gina shook her head and tried to clear her thoughts. Here she was, in a leather bar that catered to the kinky, and she didn’t want anyone in there. She only wanted one Dominant.

Reena Barrett. The most beautiful, fucking evil fem Domme Gina had ever encountered. And Gina’s boss. And her ex-lover.

Consensual. That went both ways. What if Gina pushed the issue with Reena and declared herself available? Well, it was pretty evident that Reena would reject her and then fire her. Damn it.

Yeah, Reena would turn her down cold. Hadn’t she stiff-armed Gina already after the company takeover was finished? Complete with the It’s not you, it’s me speech. Five days at a business conference, and the last two hours of drinking hadn’t taken the sting out of that conversation.

But Gina was drunk and didn’t fucking care. Maybe she could make that declaration to one of the four ConFed executives sitting in the booth across the room. Even with her vision blurry, Gina noted they were well-dressed, good-looking men who exuded Dominance from every fucking pore. The only senior officer not present was Reena.

So, after a failed attempt at a D/s relationship with her boss, Gina had a few more shots of tequila than were good for her. Nell was usually the anchor of their trio, but even she had sought oblivion tonight. Gina studied her friend. Nell was usually so perfectly composed, the epitome of the quintessential secretary, but tonight she was slightly disheveled. To Gina, she looked adorable. Why couldn’t she fall in love with Nell? Sweet, loving Nell who couldn’t dominate in the bedroom if you paid her.

Where’s Tori? Gina scanned the room for the third leg of their triangle. And what a view the room provided. In every corner, some element of kink was playing out. There was the woman in a business suit who knelt on a pillow while a man with tattoos and a beard tugged on her collar. There was the male sub with no shirt on kneeling for a woman who stroked his pecs absently while she chatted with a group of women.

And then there was the centerpiece, the focal point of the room. Four men who were as shrewd as they were sexy. ConFed executives who had driven a hard bargain after a hostile takeover that was like no other.

Mmm? Nell wasn’t listening. Why should she? Her attention was zeroed in on the eye candy from ConFed. Why did Gina only want one woman who used phrases like Let’s not ruin a good friendship and A real relationship would be a bad idea? Why couldn’t she fall for one of those four men who could meet her kinky needs? Gina liked either male or female, but whichever person played her, he or she had to be a Dominant. No subbies need apply.

And why the hell couldn’t she, even in the privacy of her own mind, quit lying?

Nell tipped her head back as she took another shot of tequila. Gina frowned. Hadn’t their tequila glasses been empty? Yet now there were three full ones on the bar. Where had those come from?

The bartender, a big, burly man, leaned closer to Gina so she was the only one to hear him. The lady at the door would like to see you.

Gina followed his gaze. Reena. Her perfect blonde hair was distinctive, and her dark-blue suit only emphasized the cold blue color of her eyes. Did the woman ever have a fucking hair out of place? She was tall, resembling a Norse goddess, and Gina had worshiped her as such. She should ignore Reena, turn away. But she didn’t.

Without saying a word to Nell, Gina slid off her barstool and stumbled awkwardly toward Reena. Even as Gina had the contradictory thought that she shouldn’t go anywhere near the woman. Reena had made it clear that she wasn’t going to be Gina’s Dominant. Gina was a submissive who worked part-time in a club, and Reena was now in management at ConFed’s new acquisition. That made it impossible according to Reena.

You summoned me? Gina kept her gaze on Reena, trying to bring the woman into focus. Gina was definitely drunk.

How much have you had? Always imperious and pushy.

Not enough. What do you want? No use in beating around the bush.

I may no longer be your Dominant, but I’m still your boss, Reena said, her eyes narrowed into slits.

I’m off the clock. And you never really were my Dominant. She turned to go back to the bar, but Reena gripped her arm. Let go of me.

We are not having this argument here. Reena kept her voice low, but it didn’t diminish the command in her tone.

Right. We aren’t going to talk about it, Gina snapped in a vicious whisper. It’s all over so we’re all over. It was all a big game of pretend anyway. Throwing caution out the window, Gina thrust her face into Reena’s. Only I stopped playing somewhere along the way and you didn’t.

Don’t be an ass. Don’t you know who’s sitting over there? Reena glanced at the table of ConFed executives.

Gina yanked her arm away. Whasamatter? You worried I might fuck one of them? Get on my knees for one of them? She snorted. Maybe I should. As she turned back to the bar, she was surprised to see Reena had stepped in front of her. Get out of my way. You made it damn clear that you didn’t want me. Let me go find someone who does.

The one thing Gina had momentarily forgotten about Reena was that the woman was fucking strong. In two moves, the female Dominant had turned Gina around and shuffled her out the back door.

Damn you, Gina snarled. She swung at Reena, missed, and spun around. Suddenly, the world tilted, and the alley seemed to rise up and meet her face. Then everything went black.

WELL, THAT TOOK care of that. Reena tried to haul Gina to her feet and ended up practically carrying her. It was awkward, but she managed to drag her ex-lover to the sidewalk and found the valet. With a twenty-dollar bill in her hands, she was able to convince the valet to retrieve the black Escalade that Gina, Nell, and Tori had used to come to the club. The driver, apparently, was nowhere to be found. How they thought they were going to get home after all that drinking was another question to ask Gina when she woke up.

Reena wasn’t gentle when she shoved Gina into the car and clicked on her seat belt. How the hell could she explain to Gina about all the bullshit? She knew that Nell had encouraged Reena to convince Anthony Fedder and his crack team to buy Sunsoon before it was destroyed from within. Hell, Gina had given Reena the introduction by gaining her entrance into the BDSM club that the ConFed executives frequented. How in the fuck was Reena supposed to have known that the year it would take to solidify the deal would turn her life upside down? Playing Gina was supposed to be part of the game, not serious. They’d known each other before working together, even played together since Gina was a club submissive, available for hire. But it had stopped altogether when they’d become coworkers. Too complicated. They’d agreed on that years ago. Reena’s feelings about Gina didn’t matter.

But now… Now Gina had become much more. She’d been Reena’s friend and ally for so long that when they began to play together regularly, emotions became confused. If only Gina knew what her Mistress wanted. It was better to break it off, to salvage their friendship.

It required that Reena ignore the fact that she was drawn to Gina’s dark tresses, her sweet curves, and her fucking awesome ass. The idea of any of the ConFed men touching her sent fire racing through Reena’s veins. Jealousy.

    Damn it.

Reena parked the car in the underground garage of her hotel and wondered if she should call someone to help. After all, it was asking for trouble to have Gina anywhere near her. It wasn’t love. It was just chemistry. Reena closed her eyes. Maybe if she told herself that a few million times,
