    About The Author

    Chapter 1.

At fifteen, all Lexie Turner dreamt about was being a grown-up. Now she was twenty-seven, had a diploma in advertising, was single, and working at a job she hated trying to keep up with the bills month to month. Being grown-up wasn’t as glamorous as it seemed at 15.

Lexie, do you have the background information on Horne Adventures for Mrs. Smith? asked the very irritating Carla Thompson.

Just finalizing a few facts, Lexie replied.

You were given that assignment almost two days ago, and she needs it A.S.A.P! Carla exclaimed as she stomped off towards her office. Carla Thompson was Lexie’s dreadful co-worker and the personal assistant to the CEO and founder of Smith Advertising, Mrs. Smith. Carla thought being the personal assistant to the CEO made her the second most important person in the office.

Right out of college, Lexie landed a job at the up and coming advertising company as an Office Receptionist, at the time she was so excited to take the job and be part of an exciting team and advertising firm. But that was four years ago, and she was still at the bottom of the totem pole, and her dreams of being an Advertising Consultant were dying daily. Instead of creating successful advertising campaigns, Lexie was answering phones and being bossed around by stuck-up bitches like Carla Thomson.

You have fifteen minutes to finish that background on Horne Adventures, Lexie! Carla yelled from her office door, loud enough for the rest of the staff to hear, and then walked into her office. Bitch! Why don’t you file this background up your ass or better yet Mrs. Smith’s ass since your head is so far up it!

Lexie Turner, you’re looking all types of fine behind that desk, said a very cocky male voice. Oh, fuck me! This day couldn’t get any worse.

Cole, do me a favor and go eat something and choke on it. Cole Birch was another reason Lexie hated working at Smith Advertising. Cole was the Senior Advertising Consultant and an arrogant asshole that continually ignored all the meetings on sexual harassment and was always inappropriate. Cole was a handsome man, but his arrogance killed all his attractiveness.

Oh Turner, it turns me on when you talk dirty like that, he arrogantly whispered as he sauntered towards his office. Ugh, what a fucking dirtbag.

    Lexie, the report…

It is here, Carla! Come get it and shut the hell up!

Carla strolled over to Lexie`s desk, Finally, it wouldn’t kill you to practice more professionalism at your job Lexie, unless you’re happy being an Office Receptionist for the rest of your life.

Bitch! Thanks for the advice, Carla, Lexie said with her sweetest smile.

Carla rolled her eyes at Lexie, and condescendingly said, I needn’t remind you Callen Horne, CEO of Horne Adventures will be coming for a meeting soon with Cole, Mrs. Smith and I. Please show Mr. Horne to the meeting room when he comes in. Horne Adventures is very important to Smith Advertising, so please be on your most professional behavior.

I’m nothing but a complete professional, Carla, Lexie sarcastically said. I hate this job! It’s getting harder not to scream at everyone. Distracted by her thoughts of one day telling Carla and Cole where to go, Lexie didn’t notice the man at her desk when she cut her finger on the paper slicer. Fuck! She muttered under her breath. She heard someone clear their throat. Oh fuck, please do not be Callen Horne, please, please don’t be Callen Horne. She turned around to greet whoever was standing at the front of her desk. Her heart dropped when she saw the man she’d been researching standing in front of her. Of course, he was even better looking in person. Shit! Welcome to Smith Advertising, how can I help you? Lexie asked sweetly and smiled at him.

I’m Callen Horne. I have a meeting with Mrs. Smith and Mr. Birch. Oh, Lexie, you idiot! This man is a potentially huge client, and his first impression of the firm is the receptionist has a potty mouth. Excellent job, girl!

Nice to meet you, Mr. Horne. If you`d follow me, I’ll show you to the meeting room its right this way. Is there anyone joining you? Can I get you a coffee or water? Lexie calm down. Give the man a chance to answer one question before you spit out another one. Callen stood in front of Lexie, smiling, obviously amused by her nervousness. God, he’s good-looking. Lexie couldn’t take her eyes off the tall, tanned, and muscular man. Callen had ashy blonde hair, which was set off by ice green eyes and thin lips. He was extremely handsome in his suit. Lexie couldn’t help but notice how well he looked in his suit, and the suit was tailored to perfection, she hadn’t seen any other men who looked that good in a suit.

    "I didn’t get your
