Robin L. Ballard

I am an ordained Evangelist and with the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit, I was led to write this book so that Christians and non Christians alike would come to a better understanding of how and why Jesus Christ died for our sins on the cross. As a child my mother, Willa Ballard taught all 8 of her children, as well as my Father Christian values and the importance of knowing and confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Throughout my entire life, I've always had an awareness and respect for Jesus as God's son and as man's Savior. I have had personal experiences with many people during my lifetime that have not known or experienced a personal relationship with God's son. Therefore, knowing that I have enjoyed fellowshipping with Christ, it is my sincere desire to want others to share in the same intimate relationship with Him as I have. I live in the New York City area, specifically the borough of the Bronx; I was born and raised in this borough. I have preached and taught in many churchs, soup kitchens to drug addicts and the homeless, as well as in women's conferences throughout the tri-state area. God has used me on many occasions to minister in the wokplace in bible studies and one-on-one; this has been fulfilling and satisfying as I watch God open His word and transform the lives of many. My parents both died while I was a teenager, and I had to live on my own since the age of 21 years old. During the ages of 21-27 years old, I strayed away from Jesus and began making friends with many worldly and sinful people. Unfortunately, I got caught up in drugs and living a wild lifestyle that I realized was not pleaseing to God. Around the age of 25 I began to pull away from the crowd I was with, and searched for a better lifestyle; one that I had known when my parents were alive. Around this time, my god-mother became a born again Christain and little did I know that she was praying for my salvation. God answered her prayers and on Februry 25, 1982 I received Christ as Lord and Savior. My spiritual growth was slow at first, somtimes falling back into a sinful lifestyle, but finally in July of 1986 I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. From that time until the present time, I have been faithfully serving God and have come to love ministering to people as I have witnessed the Holy Spirit fill, heal and deliver many from the sin and bondage of Satan. It's always a pleasure to see someone snatched from the hand of the enemy and the fire of hell. It' wonderful to see a person translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light.

    John 12:24

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone; but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

    Proverbs 31:28-31

"Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman, that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates."

This book is dedicated to my Mother Willa Ballard who taught me as a child who Jesus Christ is.

She had a deep love and reverence for Jesus as far back as I can remember and it was her prayer that her husband and all eight of her children be saved.

Her dream has been realized, not only for her husband and children, but for her grandchildren as well.

I thank you God for giving me a godly mother. I was privileged to have her as my mother, friend, mentor and guide throughout my life. She will always be alive in my heart.

    Introduction

    Psalm 40:6-8

Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened, burnt offering and sin offering has thou not required. Then said I, Lo, I come, in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O My God, thy law is within my heart.

It is my heartfelt desire that every saved and unsaved person alike would know thoroughly what happened on the Cross of Calvary when Jesus sacrificed His life as an atonement for our sins.

Since coming into the fullness of God, I have searched diligently to spiritually comprehend what happened on the cross that Friday over 2000 years ago. I no longer looked at Jesus’ death with physical eyes, but had a yearning deep within for the Holy Spirit to show me what happened spiritually.

This book is a work of the Holy Spirit. After years of studying and asking the Holy Spirit questions as I studied the scriptures, this book is the answer that I received.

My prayer is that everyone that reads this book will have their spiritual eyes opened and discern Jesus’ love for mankind.

    Chapter One

    JESUS OUR HIGH PRIEST

    Psalm 110:1-7

"The Lord said unto my Lord sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou has the dew of thy youth.

The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent; Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries. He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head."

Jesus Christ, before the foundations of the world were ever brought into existence, was predestined to be High Priest by the will of God the Father; Christ himself being God; having no beginning or ending (the Alpha and Omega as stated in Revelation 1:8.) His priesthood is far greater than the Levitical priesthood; in that He was commissioned by God in eternity past; who swore that Jesus’ priesthood would be after the order of Melchizedek, who was King of Salem, Priest of the Most High God during Abraham’s sojourn on the earth. Melchizedek’s genealogy was never recorded in the Holy Scriptures and his position as priest was compared to the priesthood of Jesus Christ revealing that both of them were far superior to the Levites; considering that the Levities were still in the loins of Abraham, spiritually speaking. Abraham, after returning from the battle of the kings was blessed by Melchizedek who brought forth bread and wine offering them to Abraham, symbolic of communion, and equivalent to fellowship: (comparative to Jesus’ offering communion to His disciples at the Last Supper.) Then he blessed Abraham, recognizing that he was chosen and anointed by God, and in return, Abraham recognized the superiority of Melchizedek’s priesthood, and paid tithes to him.

God wanted there to be no mistaking Jesus’ priesthood as being derived from the tribe of Levi; whose priesthood was limited because of their sinful nature (which was derived from the Adamic nature) and consequential physical death. But Jesus Christ’s priesthood superseded the Levitical priesthood because He is Almighty God. In the New Testament; the Pharisees came to Jesus questioning Him as to where He had received His authority from; indicating that He had not been educated, ordained or approved by them-the Levites (see Mark 11:28.) They soon realized that Jesus did not need to be affirmed by them or any man made institutions because His power and authority were God ordained. He did not need their permission to rule as Lord and Savior in Israel. As God he came to purchase Israel and the world from sin. He had a specific work that had to be completed, and He did not allow anyone or anything to hinder Him from fulfilling the will of His Father.

In the book of Exodus, Moses’ family lineage was derived from the tribe of Levi, and he was anointed to be the Lawgiver. Having received the Law directly from God on Mount Sinai, he was to instruct Israel in how to obey the Commandments of God, which in essence was to love God with all your heart and mind, and secondly to love your neighbor as yourself. Aaron the brother of Moses, on the other hand, was ordained the first High Priest; which was the actual establishment of the Levitical Priesthood. In his position he was to teach Israel how to worship God in the prescribed manner that God commanded, which were the various sacrifices offered to God with a pure and contrite heart. The beginning of this priesthood was only a temporary measure instituted by God until the coming of Jesus the Messiah. He would then fulfill the requirements of the Law and the Prophets, completing and bringing to fruition all of God’s righteous demands revealed in the Law and spoken of by the Old Testament Prophets.

    Jesus Christ Superior to Moses:

Jesus’ ministry was over the household of faith; consisting of those comprising His body, which superseded the ministry of Moses in that Christ was sent directly from God, who dwells in the heavens, to earth to redeem man from the stronghold and bondage of sin that Satan held over the human race.

Jesus as High Priest will always receive more glory and honor than both Moses and Aaron. Moses and Aaron were part of The House or body of believers in the Old Testament, while Christ, as the Son of God in the New Testament, owns The House or the Household of God. Jesus built The House (through His death and resurrection;) himself being The Chief Cornerstone (see Psalm 118:22 and I Peter 2:6-8.) Moses and Aaron were never commissioned by God to build His house or body. They had specific tasks to perform and once their assignments were completed, they went on to be with God. Jesus spoke of His building God a spiritual habitation in the gospel of John.

    John 14:2

In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

The body of Christ (which is the church,) is a living unified organism, with different members and functions, empowered by the Holy Spirit and the word of God to function as God’s dwelling place here on earth. The church is not a building, organization or beautiful edifice but consists of people who have been born again into the family of God by the blood of Jesus. Jesus Christ is the Head of the body and the church acts as Jesus’ agent on the earth in His absence. Jesus died to birth the church into existence and the Holy Spirit continues the work of Christ in His absence.
