About this ebook
Eddy Styx
Eddy Styx lives in an eerie old house where the floors creak, ominously. His hobbies are poetry and the three M’s: motorcycles, mayhem and murder. He lives alone with his Cat, Phineas, a lovely Manx, and several ghosts from his past. At least that is how C. M. Mattison imagines him, for he is her male alter ego and true companion. She lives in Wisconsin with her husband, Steven. They share their home with four cats: Bennington, a Birman, Beauregard, a Birman, Vivian, a Himalayan, and Lucy, a Calico. When she isn’t writing poetry, she spends her time on her two favorite poetry sites: Neopoet at http://www.neopoet.com/ as the poet “Candlewitch” or on “Hooded Stranger” at: http://hoodedstranger.com/forum/portal.php. ABOUT THE AUTHOR
With special thanks to Hooded Stranger, Enda Collins, Louise Mcwhoter, Graham Costagan, Linda Wilson, Cheryl Johnson, and Chrys Bruso who believed in me, and to Steve Mattison, my best friend for kicking me into action and making this book happen.
87656992_nowm.jpgVIRGIN
I, the burgeoning eradicator,
dreams haunted by vampires and slayers,
have not yet made my initial conquest.
Decidedly,
I have chosen my first mark…
SHE
I didn’t slay her…
She was gone when I found her,
but,
overcome with curiosity,
I…
softly touched her pale, swollen lips
and
smelled her cream rinse-fragrant hair.
LOVING
I love the corpse
that she is
vivid and still
as a masterpiece
more beautiful in death
color slowly
vanishing
as if brushed
by a pale stroke
for this transitory
moment in time…
INVISIBLE
I am forgotten,
bootless…
I walk the streets
of the unrequited.
I am unacknowledged,
appreciated, not,
for I seek no reward.
A quiet entity,
calling no attention
unto myself.
Unobserved,
I watch
those who would
stand out in the crowd.
Silently,
I seek to know them
only enough to avoid them
and to remain
beyond recollection.
SUCCULENCE
Silhouette in the window
Inciting curves
Enhancement
In shades of gray
On the flat canvas
Of curtain
To taste your treats
Would that they
Come alive
I shall paint your body
In the medium of saliva
I’ve a paintbrush
Behind my teeth
Clever tongue
Sixth digit and
Key to the treasury
Now cover your wanton
In weeds of modesty
Be something you are not
The truth lies in secret
Between me and your shadow
LIBERATOR
Under a street lamp,
within its sickly, yellow glow,
she found me starving.
Looking deeply into
my famished eyes,
I’ll feed you.
she said,
"In return, you must feed me…
what is it you’re craving?"
I replied,
with digits twitching,
"I want to touch my fingers
to that translucent, milky shadow,
ahhhhh…
just there…
at the base of your throat,
where the pulse
beats like butterfly wings
against your thin, creamy skin
