INTRODUCTION
It is my beleaf that poetry is personal in every way. It is how a person really feels inside and when one shares it with another person they are sharing part of themselves. It is giving to their friend or family a part of them that is rarely seen by anyone else. Therefore in writing this book, I write the poems to and for friendship between friends and family.
In the direction of friends, they are to be priceless and are not just someone you know. They are family and not many know what it means. They become just as close to me as if they were natural brothers or sisters. I love each of them as if we grew up together in the same house. So if I call you my friend you become my family.
I believe I started thinking this way because of the many foster homes I lived in as a child. While it was hard for me growing up I always loved to write and to share my thoughts with those around me in literal words other than speaking to them.
Many people call someone a friend just because they work with them or because they know them, which are the only reason. However, that does not earn them the right as a true friend. A true friend is one that you would share your life with and your family with. You would trust your life to them as well.
I have not met many people I would dare to trust me like that too, not even in the law enforcement area. Though that is their job, I have a hard time trusting people in general, of course that is me.
I was taught that you should be a woman of your word no matter what. That is not easy to do all the time and we tend to not always do what we say. I do try to keep it to the best of my ability.
When I tell someone that I am his or her friend for life I mean just that. I do not go back on my word for anything. If they ever want to talk or need to talk about something I am always there for them day or night. I feel that friends are supposed to be this way for their friends no matter what.
DEDICATION
I dedicate this book to Jesus Christ for His love that has carried me through life and the words He has given me over the years. To my wonderful children, Roy, Louise, Kandyce and granddaughter Thea who inspires me every day to share a little of me a little more. God blessed me with them to help keep my sanity in my time of need, and to all the wonder friends that inspired the poems around the world. Just remember I am here for you always I will always be here for you just as God is here for us all.
This first poem is for a friend that was rather hard on him as he told me his story of a Texas teacher. He did not feel like he was worth much to others and was feeling kind of depressed about the way things were going.
I enjoyed talking to him because he kept me encouraged and we always seem to have fun. Yet when you become true friends with someone you tend to know when something is really bothering them.
I find it hard to understand sometimes how someone can have a family, a home,
