About this ebook

Mike and Carl have been friends for ever, or at least since Carl's parents bought the house across the street. Like most friends they have a bond that runs deep but can this bond survive if the secrets they both keep ever come to the light? Mike has been under the influence of his religious parents for 20 years and Carl has been developing a secret crush on his best friend since high school. A few years into university they get an apartment together when a fateful find in a bookstore provides the opportunity for one of them to explore his secret and if all goes to plan the other will have no idea what happened. An experiment with hypnotizing provides a possible outlet but it may not be the expected outcome, and what if it doesn't work. Will it bring them closer together or drive them apart?

I've been writing stories for years and finally decided to put them out to a wider audience. A 40 something, prairie guy with an over active imagination and almost no will power to stop me from trying to pet and cuddle any dog I see, anywhere. I work too much and write too little and I resist the temptation to get some four legged furry buddies to share my house. Re-aligning my priorities means I am starting to write more erotic fiction, gay romance and, for some reason completely unconnected to the first two, horror. I look forward to comments, if you like my work then please let me know (and tell your friends), if you don't then please let me know so I can improve.

    Chapter 1

Hey look at this. Mike came around the corner of the aisle with an old paperback that looked like it had seen better days. He handed it to me as he got close enough.

Master the Art of Mesmerizing Your Friends for Fun and Entertainment. I read the title out loud. Jeez this thing looks like it’s over a hundred years old. The picture on the cover was a drawing of a tall, dark haired man with a big black top hat and one of those pointy moustaches. He was staring at a group of people who were obviously under a trance. I looked over at him. You want to mesmerize your friends now? Even doing this I don’t think Emma will go out with you. I laughed and backed out of reach of the inevitable punch that was coming my way.

Very funny. He snatched the book back. I’m gonna get it. It looks like it might be a fun way to kill an evening. Maybe I’ll hypnotize you into not being a douche.

I let out a hearty guffaw Fat chance, Presto. My douchery is in my very DNA. I turned and went back to searching the shelves of the, so called antique, book shop we had stumbled into after going shopping for some new clothes for school.

Mike and I had been friends ever since I moved to town about 6 years ago. My parents and I moved to a house across the street and in a matter of days the two of us became fast friends. We did everything together, played on the same soccer team, joined the same clubs, we listened to the same music and in high school we were in most of the same classes. We graduated and stayed friends, even going to the same university for the first two years. We still lived with our parents but had finally decided we needed to move out on our own. You guessed it, we found a two bedroom apartment and moved out together. We really only differed in one significant way, he had been trying to get Emma - a girl he met in a psychology class, to go out with him for over a month and I was doing my best pretending to be interested in girls while secretly wishing I could be with him.

I was a closet case. Not because I thought my parents would disown me or anything like that. Frankly, I don’t think they’d really give a damn. We had an extremely casual relationship and they would have taken the news very gracefully, they probably already knew. No, the problem was Mike and his family. They are from a fairly religious background and I have heard his father, on more than one occasion, make comments about homosexual sinners and how it’s unnatural and Mike had nodded in agreement a few of those times. Our parents didn’t really see eye
