About this ebook

Eric

I was a poor, destitute, helpless omega living with my omega father and brothers. We had no money, no home and life on the streets was tough. Real tough. But we survived. We survived because we had each other. With the economy in tatters, we had to take what was not ours to survive, never eating more than we needed to get by. I volunteered so as to keep my brothers from knowing this life.

Each night was a different house. A loaf of bread here, some crackers there. Just bare subsistence. I wanted babies of my own, but I couldn’t in good faith bring them into a world where I could barely feed myself.

Wandering further than I should have, I found myself looking into the fridge of an alpha with a veritable cornucopia of food. There was more food in here than I’d seen in my entire life.

There was only one problem.

He caught me.

Drake

I was a rich dragon. The alpha son of The King of Dragons. And I was mad. My alpha father had arranged a marriage for me to a shifty were-fox and I wanted nothing to do with him. But my father was nothing if not persistent.

I couldn’t sleep on an empty stomach. But what was that sound I heard? In the kitchen just there? As stealthily as any cat, I investigated. No one should’ve been able to get past my defenses. No one.

But someone had.

Aha! I caught the intruder red-handed, rummaging through my…fridge? Not my treasure room? What kind of thief steals bread?

Apparently, the kind of thief who steals my heart.

This 15k word story contains an HEA, Mpreg, and babies at the end. Cute babies. Insufferable little tykes that get into all sorts of trouble.

I couldn't sleep a wink. Why did my alpha father get to choose my mate? It didn't make sense. I paced my room in frustration. There was no way in hell I was going to marry that shifty fox. First, I didn't trust him as far as I could throw him - which, being a dragon was probably pretty far. Second, I just didn't click with him.

Was that so wrong? To want to click with your mate? I shook my head. I needed a bite to eat. I couldn't think on an empty stomach. I made my way through my large, cavernous mansion. It was large enough that I could easily change forms at any point in the house.

I looked around at my opulent possessions and sighed. All of this meant nothing without a mate to share it with.

As I made my way to the kitchen, I thought about my perfect omega. Handsome, intelligent and helplessly cute. I smiled, wondering if there was someone who fit that description out there waiting for me. Surely, there had to be, right?

I'd heard tales of fated mates being brought together seemingly out of the blue - mates who would've never normally found each other. But they did. Seemingly against all odds.

    Could that happen to me?

I closed my eyes and pictured us walking together and being together and even making out.

But before I could reach the kitchen, I heard a noise that stopped my heart cold in my chest.

See, being a large dragon, I lived alone. I didn't need no butlers or help to keep my mansion in tip-top shape. I did it all myself. I actually enjoyed that type of thing. So there shouldn't have been any noises coming from anywhere in the house.

Even though I was a large dragon of noble heritage, I still shivered slightly in the face of uncertainty. I stopped and tuned my ears toward the source - the kitchen.

There it was again! Now I was 100% sure something - or someone - was in there. Being a dragon, there was literally nothing outside of a military tank that could hurt me. Nothing. Bullets just deflected off my extremely thick hide.

But what on earth could've slipped past my security system? That thing was locked down tight.

I shifted into my dragon form and vowed to find out.

Slowly and far more stealthy than one would think a dragon could be, I stalked into the darkened kitchen. I sniffed the air, but smelled nothing out of the ordinary. Was it some kind of an animal? Doubtful, but one never knew.

The air was thick with tension as I inched my large frame toward the source of the noise. For one brief moment, I had completely forgotten all about my father's meddling. For that I was grateful. But who was here?

Ahem! I cleared my throat as I saw a...large duck rummaging around my fridge. What the hell?

The duck turned toward me, took one look at my large dragon form and promptly fell over unconscious.

    A duck?

I shifted to my human form and hurried to the helpless animal, scooping him up in my arms.

The first thing I was met with was a powerful scent. He was in full heat and it was overpowering. But there was more to it than that. Some part of it tickled my nose, leaving me lightheaded.

I carried him into the living room and plopped him down on the sofa. Was he all right? How he got in and who he was could be dealt with later, but for now he was in need of help. And I was the only one who could give it to him.

The only problem was that I didn't know the first thing about ducks. Other than they were extremely cute. And this one was no exception.

I laid him down and stroked his feathers. His heart seemed to be
