You Need a Friend: A Collection of Inspirational Poems and Commentaries
()
About this ebook
This collection of poems and commentaries is suitable for both devotional meditations and personal ministry. Individually, each poem has comforted countless souls on their spiritual pilgrimage. Brought together in this edition, they encompass a variety of subjects capable of encouraging and inspiring both saint and sinner.
The serious reader will appreciate the spiritual concepts and enduring truths contained in each poem. The commentaries will spark reflective thought as each expose a specific insight gained from the preceding verses.
You Need a Friend, in part or whole, is also a ministering tool for anyone desiring to share their Christian experience with family, friends, or acquaintances. So take a peek inside the covers. Youll discover dozens of golden nuggets waiting to uplift a discouraged, hurt, or troubled child of faith. On the other hand, you will find several poems and commentaries that you can share comfortably with individuals outside the body of Christ that warn of the dangers in delay and of the impending judgment to come.
So dig deep. Precious gems are rarely found on the surface, and a casual glance directed at the Savior of mankind will not suffice in this corrupt and dying world. Stay close to Jesus, your redeemer and guide. In all the storms of life, He will be there for you, for He knows you by name. He has compassion on your circumstances, and He knows You Need a Friend.
C. Michael Christianson
The author for the most part has been involved in some form of full-time Christians service since entering Ozark Christian College in 1969. As a student he served as church teen leader, bible school teacher, music leader and choir member, youth pastor, summer camp counselor and activities director, regular chapel speaker, local pastor, missionary, and medical missions volunteer. In 1999 a serious head injury and subsequent post traumatic disorder left Michael destined to residency in a neurological and retraining facility. Instead, a decision by family and friends was made to enter a natural health clinic in southern Mexico. While receiving therapy himself he began volunteering as a spiritual counselor, physical therapist, and health caregiver. Later he began conducting health seminars and giving simple eye examinations in surrounding cities and states. A decision was made to enter this field of volunteer work on a full time basis. Throughout Mexico, Michael has conducted or assisted in over 90 health seminars with tens of thousands participating in these programs. He has personally attended more than 16,000 patients and distributed over 60,000 printed guides to eye care, prescription glasses and eye medicines. He has contributed thousands of volunteer hours educating and assisting medical students who choose to enter some form of mission service. His ministry has also funded and built 2 small churches, 6 home health clinics, several safe houses for unwed mothers, the homeless, and displaced victims of floods. Since 2008, Michael has divided his time between living and assisting in new church work in northern Mexico where his family reside, and the United States where he works partime throught the year to provide funding for the medical missions work. Michael enjoys travel, nature adventures and quiet evenings with his wife Mary and infant daughter Kelli. Writing poetry, inspirational seminars, and gospel music are his passions and he looks forward to the day when he will be able to begin another career as full time writer and lecturer.
