About this ebook

Patty Moskos did a series of paintings about the feeling and experiences of being a woman, drawn from her journal keeping. While attending a writers conference in Taos, NM, Patty decided to write These Stolen Flowers as a two-part poetry book, describing the difficult experiences of rape victimization that includes a self-help section on rape avoidance, with space for writing-in ones own stories, as an aid in overcoming rape issues.

This book was written and designed to increase the awareness of rape issues. Many women are unsure about what has happened to them. Some women might even want to forget that it even happened to them at all.

Many women, dismayed by acquaintance rape, might not even report the fact that they have been attacked.

It is time to get loud about rape. It no longer has to be a dark secret that you keep. Rape issues in a woman’s life can cause posttraumatic stress disorder and difficulties with a normal sex life, ruining marriages and intimate relationships.

Remember: no means no. If a man does not stop when you say no, you could be finding yourself in a rape situation.

If you think you have been raped, seek help from the police and a hospital. It could help you to tell a close friend. There are many women’s groups that you could contact. There are also telephone help lines for women who have been raped.
