A Blunder, By Thunder!!
The king sat beneath his golden crown,
He wore on his face a royal frown.
Worried about his terrible blunder,
His velvet cloak hid a problem down under.
He faced his court with a kingly blush,
The color as bright as a royal flush.
Would they discover his awful mistake?
The thought made his highness shiver and shake.
He dare not stand, for it would show!
He dare not let his subjects know!
His kingdom would proclaim the news;
When the king got dressed…
He forgets his shoes.

A Christmas Wish
I wish that I could capture
the glow from the Christmas star.
I’d catch it like a firefly
and place it in a jar.
Then when your days are gloomy
and life seems oh so dark,
I’d let you hold my magic jar
to give your life a spark!
(c) 1995
A Giant Fell
A giant maple stood tall and staid
for forty years providing shade
with outstretched leafy arms;
a nesting place for birds…
a playground for squirrels…
A haven for them one and all.
Then came the day saws bit deep.
Limbs fell slowly in a heap.
I heard it moan,
life’s sap seeping,
I sat weeping,
That day I watched the giant fall.
What’s this I see? I do declare!
Is that your offspring growing there?
Life goes on!

A Mother’s Christmas Wish
In every mother7s heart
there is a special place
Where she stores away the memories
of the glow on a small child’s face.
Of that very special moment,
of the awakening Christmas morn.
The glow and tinsel of a gift
before the wrappings torn.
The stockings that were filled
with surprises, big and small.
The expectations, wonderment
of what may next befall.
And so it is when we fall in love,
with a sparkle in our eyes.
Our hearts are filled, like the stockings.
We just see the stars in the sky.
Then after a while, like the toys we receive,
that begin to get worn, grow old,
The sparkle goes out of the romance
Our hearts lose their warmth, grow cold.
We forget to look for the sunshine,
and life becomes very dull.
The load becomes Oh, so heavy,
and it takes you both to pull.
That1s the time to stop and remember
How it was when your love was new.
Forget all your heartaches and problems,
and begin your lives anew.
This wish I now make for my children
can be seen quite easily.
Just close your eyes and look with your hearts,
and then you will clearly see.
I wish that I could capture
the glow from the Christmas star!
I’d catch it like a firefly
and place it in a jar!
Then, when your days are gloomy,
and life seems Oh, so dark,
I’d
