About this ebook

This is a book on codependency and how to stop the cycle of violence. I give the Red Flags that you need to watch out for, like isolation and monitoring, to name a few. I give advice that God is the only refuge to save you and your family from this tragedy. This is an honest look at the shame that people get in the midst of it all. Many are afraid to talk about what is really going on behind the doors. There are so many long term effects emotionally that you can't see that comes out later. It is important that you seek professional help. This is a growing problem that won't go away without God or counselors. The innocent children suffer the most, and if not helped they will grow up and repeat the cycle.

T. Lewis

This author is a single mother of three boys, who found out through many relationships that it wasn't a man that she needed in her life, but that it was more of God. She went through struggles and hardships and physical harm that taught her that she was not worthless but a very valuable person inside and out.

    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I need to especially thank my three sons for being supportive, and Josh for stating this could help someone and possibly be therapeutic for myself. This is for my moms emotional support and for holding me and praying with me time and time again. She was there for me. I want to thank my best friend Shelly for encouragment, A special thanks to Saskia and Sean Derritt for encouraging me to put my words down and giving me the push I needed. Especially to God for never leaving me alone.

    PREFACE

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 says, There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

I am writing this in the hope that it will inspire people to look for the RED FLAGS or warning signs that things are not right. I hope that somehow this information will keep someone safe or a family from grieving. This could keep someone from having regrets. I know now that you cannot change someone else. The only one you really have control over is yourself. Change begins with a small step, by saying that’s enough. I pray that you will be aware that some people do not live what they preach. I did not write this to convince you to swear off of men or relationships. I want to inform you that there are thousands who are hurt or killed everyday because of domestic violence. If this raises the level of awareness or prevents one person from going through this, then it will have been worth it all.

May God richly bless my family and forgive me for not confiding in them. I thank God for my sons for standing by me and trusting that God would deliver us. Remember that the devil came to steal, kill, and destroy what God created. The family unit is the strongest unit. Just remember God has His own timing, and He won’t give you a burden too big to bear. You will learn that your trust should not be in mankind but in God. God is faithful.

    CHAPTER 1: BEGINNINGS

My name is not what is important but my story is. I have had the life of two people wrapped into one. My life started out as conservative and legalistic as they come. My parents were strict, and I thank God for that now. I don’t remember my
