About Catherine Anne Held, Ph.D.
060919_glyph.jpgForeword
As a holistic family doctor and as Delia’s sister, I’m honored to write the foreword for this book. Delia spoke often of the insights she gained and the help she experienced in the course of her energy and spiritual healing work with Catherine. I know that her work with Catherine served as a tremendously strong lifeline to her, helping to extend her life many years beyond the traditional prognosis for her disease. Delia also talked about wanting to write a book with Catherine. Delia would be very proud to share the guidance in this short and simple book with others confronting serious illness.
Beyond being a tether to this life, as important as that was, Delia’s work with Catherine allowed her to become aware of the continuity that exists between this physical world we know and the spiritual world that awaits. And the more Delia connected to these spiritual truths, the more she was able to share those truths and insights with her family and loved ones, bringing us all into closer spiritual connection. Never has a transition into death been accomplished with such grace.
The book is beautifully done: simultaneously simple yet deep. How lovely to take Delia’s incredible and poignant journey and turn it into such a practical healing guide for others who find themselves on a similar path. As I read this book, I found myself thinking of myriads of my own patients that will benefit, including cancer patients, those dealing with other chronic or acute life-changing illnesses and challenges, and their families and loved ones.
On a personal level, reading Delia’s Book not only gave me many pragmatic tips for tuning in and attending to the feeding of my own spirit, but also allowed me to reconnect with Delia herself and her final message to me, Keep your soul open…I’ll be there!
I invite you, too, to keep your soul open as you read these simple and life-affirming lessons.
Tammy Aburto-Pratt, M.D.

Purpose of the Book
Welcome. If you are reading this, you probably either have cancer or love someone with cancer. Your life may have recently been turned upside down, or you may have been on this journey for a long time. I am writing this book for you, because I have learned a lot about cancer healing and I want to share it with you and your loved ones. The purpose of this book is to give you practical and spiritual tools that you can use from today forward to improve your mental outlook and chances for recovery, and to reduce the side effects often associated with conventional medical treatments for cancer. I want you to have the best possible quality of life, wherever you are on your medical journey, and I encourage you to share these guiding principles with your physicians, health care practitioners and caregivers.
You are not alone—there are many other people that have navigated the cancer journey. I call this Delia’s Book because much of the material is from ten years of learning about healing from my dear friend Delia. Together we combine her extensive medical knowledge as a doctor and experiences as a patient, with my background as a trauma therapist and professional hands-on healer. This is the book we dreamed about writing together to help you and others navigate the cancer journey with more hope, better health, and more clarity. The amount of information about cancer and healing available
