The Written Word
April 17 1980
Writing is an action
That lets my thoughts come through
Yet when my thoughts are written
Some answers come to view
Armed with pen and paper
I let myself go free
The flow of ink runs wild
Expressed emotionally
At times I write in pleasure
Sometimes I write in pain
No matter what my reason is
I write thoughts just the same
Most writers write for others
And publish work with pride
Though many writers write for fun
Most write to see inside
When writers are discovered
They know not what’s to come
For critics travel far and wide
To comment, shine and shun
I’ve often thought of writing
For all the world to see
However I find poetry
I’ve written just for me
Should someone ask me nicely?
To share my work in print
I’d have to think it over
And write my thoughts content
Valentine’s Day
January 14 1980
Revised February 20 1980
The day of hearts
And what of mine
Perhaps amidst a wonderland
With tenderness of hidden parts
Ere my dream could come to view
New perspectives dodge my touch
But pass me by so easily seen
Once again love comes anew
The eve has come of romance
Found Eros bound at play
Teasing all who faired his smile
Wedged with heart amidst his glance
All who once were struck?
Held sights of visions passed
Searching for the unfound dream
Against the weight of cupid’s luck
Where do I venture the missing souls?
Departing once again in life
Thinking thankless thoughts to be
Their self fulfilling goals
Perhaps ‘tis true of death
Wherein we see no light
The peace of which we search through love
Denies our very breath
The thought remains to be
Our memories’ eternal birth
An end must come to written words
For days of heart to grieve
Alliterative Analysis
February 22 1980
Poetic prose poses a prayer
For fairest friends fondly free
My magic mind moody men
Who heartlessly hear her hymns?
Vastly vague voice vacancy
Shallow shores shower speech
Barren borders break but bear
Gallant girl gently glance
Truth tells tales to taunt then tease
Lovers learn lustfully leave
Caring can’t command clear court
Desirous dates do dwell dead dreams
This poem delivers prayer
For friends and lovers free
My charm does touch these men of moods
Who know not what I mean
The emptiness of words
As spoken through the air
Are hardly heard as said
Tho women know thru stares
Truth is pain when left unknown
Lovers use their lust to grow
The caring that they share when close
Annihilate their time alone
