About this ebook

Free To Be Me was inspired from my day to day walk in this Life. There have been so many experiences, some of which impacted me to such a degree, I felt compelled never to forget, but to keep them in remembrance. I have yet to see it all, but truly Ive seen and experienced enough to share with others, with the sole purpose of perhaps directing some lost soul to the Remedy of all the problems, sadness, brokenness and despair, that this Life brings.

Darlene C. Humphries

Darlene Humphries is a gifted, passionate Poet, who humbly accepts the title, but gives GOD only, all the glory! “Free To Be Me”, gives way to the colorful imagination of one observing Life’s reality, mixed with both the whimsical expression of humor as well as the sadness of heart that in truth, befalls each of us. She tells her “story” poetically, using some of her actual life experiences, in allowing her readers to visualize each memory as seen through her eyes. Throughout these pages, you will experience every emotion in the gain, loss, hope, failure, defeat, triumph, deceit and truth, all of which are vividly expressed in this beautiful story of “rhyme with reason.” Her first publication, “Create In Me” is a wonderful compilation of Christian poetry, detailing both historical and present day living, designed to give hope and insight, in bringing into reality the awesome power and endless love of the Savior of mankind, Jesus the Christ. Each page is an uplifting, inspiring journey designed to bring forth the magnificent wonders and royal majesty of the Creator of the Universe, in a unique, yet comprehensive manner.

    Free to Be Me - Darlene C. Humphries

    Dear Enemy

    By Darlene C Humphries

    Dear Enemy, I take this time now to express my deepest gratitude;

    For, except you had existed, this Book would not have been completed;

    Had I attempted to try and avoid you or escaped to elude;

    My purpose and destiny would have been utterly defeated.

    All credit goes to you for the slander, gossip, envy, and pride;

    For you alone brought meaning to the pain, betrayal, lies and doubt;

    Who caused all the sleepless nights and the many tears cried;

    And without you, there would have been nothing to write about.

    The devastation you’ve brought me, which you alone only could have sent;

    Misery, with every sin added to each dilemma, you deserve all recognition;

    You’ve been such an asset to all my guilt and need to repent;

    No one but you, just you, could have brought all this to fruition.

    Your inspiration of jealously, the provoking of my tormented heart;

    The ungodly people you inhabited that infiltrated my life;

    The impostors, perpetrators, the so-called friends that you’ve convinced to depart;

    I must take this given moment to accredit you for all the discord and strife.

    Even the man I loved so dearly and thought his motives were pure;

    Was found to be no more than your pretender in disguise;

    But he, like you, was uncovered and exposed, as a deadly lure;

    And I found it enlightening and of a truth, that nothing should come as a surprise.

    In conclusion, I acknowledge you are worthy to receive an award for all the effort contributed;

    And I wish to thank you for all you have done in my life to steal, destroy and kill;

    For everything you purposed and all that you so diligently and relentlessly attributed;

    Was nothing less than the declaration and sealing mandate of God’s perfect will!

    Who Is My Neighbor?

    By Darlene C Humphries

    Next door, around the corner, down the block or Street;

    There’s a person called my Neighbor whom I daily greet.

    Their status, position or race is not a barrier or even relevant;

    They all have one thing in common which makes them an equally important element.

    Each one is part of the human race, created to fill the Earth;

    And they each have their own special value and possession of true worth.

    Some live in other parts of the World, whose cultures differ expressly;

    But a Neighbor is in every place, regardless of distance of proximity.

    While friendship may develop between some and others I may never come to know;

    I’ve received divine instruction to treat them all the same, by the love I show.

    Some may respond with mutual friendly affection;

    And others may treat me with disdain and total rejection.

    Still, I must treat my Neighbor the way I desire to be treated;

    I cannot become self-absorbed and resign myself as one, defeated.

    For me to perform this feat is in no way or by any means, an easy task;

    More than often, I fail miserably when I allow my emotions to unmask.

    But with God’s help and a heart and mind to obey;

    I know that His strength will be sufficient for each day.

    Now, I no longer have doubt as to who my Neighbor may be;

    For my Neighbor is the one I consider, even as I would think of me.

    Lip Service

    By Darlene C Humphries

    I see your mouth moving as you speak the same repeated lies;

    From the lips of a deceiver as you so many times before have rehearsed;

    Everything sacred and true, your venomous speech defies;

    Embellishing in your pretense, falsehood proceeds and is dispersed.

    Lip service is your totality, there’s nothing by far, left;

    Honesty and virtue have finally been destroyed and defeated;

    Your very appearance is the countenance of one, dead and bereft;

    On the throne of your loveless heart, evil reigns, seated.

    No expectation of reform, no
