    TELL ME

I would like to tell you about my trip, to share it with you, as you are reading these first few lines. Wait, let me sit down, but come closer to me and we'll keep warm, huddled in the shadow of that fireplace: get yourself something to drink and we'll get started!

There I was, on that cliff overlooking the sea at Land's End in Cornwall, in the wind that had ruffled my hair, with the fast, rhythmic notes of Irish music resounding in my ears, making my heart beat.

The sea breeze, impetuously moulding the waves against the cliff face, brings with it that sense of motivation that makes you feel alive, creating the image of a champion returning home, fearless.

I ventured to these magical places because I had decided to change my luck, to feel free and to escape the monotony of life, to know and to see for myself those places that, between mysticism and truth, had led me to these shores, teeming with medieval ports and oak forests that lend credence to the legend and stories of King Arthur.

I love to imagine being on light, cotton-wool clouds. I was lying there on my own, thinking, when I was pleasantly overwhelmed by citrus-scented sunbeams that, mixed with the sea air, were a magical, emotional shock.

Seagulls chased between the sunbeams and the clouds, hovering right and left, then swooping down to find food, trying to sharpen their perception among the mottled reflections of the waves, now clear blue, now deep blue.

The sea seemed crisp and agitated at the same time, depending on how the wind played amongst the waves and the seagulls.

I lay there, high on the cliff. Everything was charged with a positive energy, and a phrase kept turning in my head: It’s a beautiful day. The rhythmic beat of drums and a bass resonated in my mind, creating a magical atmosphere. The world stopped for a moment: I was there ... Fantastic! But I did not yet know what awaited me!

As I was saying, I was on the cliff edge and, suddenly ... I noticed a yacht moored at a short distance from the shore, which I thought I recognised ... I tried to make out the name, but it was difficult to read.

I decided to move to a lower point on the cliff, closer to the shore. I shuffled towards the Minack Theatre, an amphitheatre hewn out of the cliff rock at Porthcurno Bay. Can you imagine a theatre built in the rock, with semi-circular steps and a stage made of columns and arches adorned with plants in that natural space? Just amazing!

Fortunately, there were few people around at that time; they may have taken me for crazy. I made my decision and jumped in the sea to reach the yacht. Its flag told me it was from Italy, but I still couldn’t read its name.
