Revelations of Grace and Mercy - Robert B. Paton

    FOREWORD

A book forward is usually written by someone well known. In the world’s view we are no one. We are not noteworthy, we are just regular people. In Numbers 22:28 God used a donkey to speak, he didn’t say anything profound, the donkey just asked why are you beating me. What made it so remarkable was not what he said but WHO spoke the words. So, if God can use a donkey, then why not me? My husband and I have gone through many of the same struggles as other people.

Our lives did not go as planned. I could tell you about the state of poverty that we lived in for many years, a home with holes in the floor, going to bed at night with no food for the next day, visiting family at dinner time in order to have something to eat. I could even tell you about the struggles we had conceiving children and how the doctor told us I would have a 60% chance of losing a child if conceived. The truth is all of our struggles have made us into who we are today. They teach us to cling to our faith. Struggles help create a closer walk to God. I do not believe that God creates hardships but I know He turns them around for good.

Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose

We had the same dream that most young couples have when they get married. We wanted a great marriage, a house, kids and I was going to be a stay at home mom. We wanted a very traditional family. Guess what! It didn’t go as planned.

In 2007 I was pregnant and we were blessed with our second child, at the same time Robert had become ill. Shortly after the birth of our second son, Robert’s health began declining rapidly. He would get short of breath walking and began having to sleep in a recliner at night because he could not breathe when he laid flat. He went to the doctor and was told he had allergies. He was prescribed some medication and in the days that followed he continued to decline. He went back to the doctor for a second visit and they performed a chest x-ray. The x-ray showed a little spot of pneumonia and a really large heart. He was given antibiotics to treat the pneumonia. Two days later he became so short of breath that he couldn’t catch his breath. I insisted he go to the emergency room or I would call an ambulance. He reluctantly agreed but wanted to take a shower first. When he got out of the shower he had foam coming out of his mouth and was struggling to breathe. I loaded up our newborn and 3 year old and off to the emergency room we went. A couple of hours later, as I was holding our newborn and trying to tame a 3 year old, the doctor came in and delivered a devastating blow. Mrs. Paton, I’m sorry to tell you this but your husband is very sick, his heart is failing and his lungs are full of fluid. I looked down at the face of our precious newborn and then over at our rambunctious 3 year old and I told the doctor, with tears in my eyes, No, he’s not, he’s just got pneumonia and needs antibiotics. The doctor then went on to tell me if we had not come to the emergency room tonight that he would’ve died. He did give me a glimmer of hope in explaining that he could recover from this because he is young and has no other issues.

He was admitted to the hospital for a few days, improved some and was released. We followed up with the cardiologist a few days later. During the initial office visit he explained to us that he was at risk for sudden cardiac death. During the visit Robert stepped out to get something to drink and the doctor looked at me and said, Mrs. Paton, I don’t think you understand how sick he is, he could walk out my office doors and drop dead. I simply held my head up and looked him straight in the eyes, while holding my babies and said, What do you want me to do, cry? I understand.

Time continued to pass, very slowly, and Robert continued to decline health. Several 9-1-1 calls with transport to the hospital and several admissions and about 3 near death events later the doctors approached me and explained that they could do nothing else. Robert needed a heart transplant. They began making arrangements to move him to a transplant facility 2 hours away. Six weeks after admission to the transplant facility we received a new heart.

During this time we walked close to God. God became more real to me than ever before. He walked with me up and down the hospital hallways and He sat with Robert in his hospital bed. He was present.

Time moves on and we struggled through the first year after transplant. The years passed and life started taking on a more familiar, more comfortable form. It was the form of a normal life. We were rebuilding our normal life, but the truth is we never went back to our previous normal. We now live in a new normal. This normal was developed by God after going through a heart transplant and then a few years later, cancer.

I sat one day thinking about all we had been through. I thought it’s going to be easy sailing now because what else can happen. Nothing is left to go wrong, we have survived! Once again we were hit with difficulties. Robert started having back problems. He developed a pinch nerve in his back that eventually required surgery. For two years he was not able to sit, stand or lay on his back very long. The most comfortable position he could find was lying on his stomach on the floor. During that time he studied the Word of God and he prayed and asked God to help him understand the book of Revelation. God used those two years to continue His work in Robert. I have watched as God placed the excitement and understanding of Revelations into Robert.

During our struggles God spoke to us, showed us things and refocused our lives. Our lives are not perfect and we are not perfect Christians but that is what is great about God. He loves us anyway! His grace and mercy carries us through the tough times. The struggles of today become our strengths for tomorrow. It has been God that has brought us through. Man will fail; God does not and out of struggles come great Revelations of Mercy and Grace.

    CHAPTER 1 - INTRODUCTION

In the beginning, God created man. And God dwelt with man in the garden that he created for man. God walked with man and had a one-on-one relationship with man. There was no law and no 10 Commandments. There was no need for faith, because man was with his God, with no dividing barriers. We were created by God as his companions.

Now God always has a plan. Otherwise, he would not have put the tree of knowledge between good and evil in the garden. (You don’t leave a loaded gun around a child!). Yes, man disobeyed and ate the forbidden fruit of the tree. The fruit was delicious but the man’s action was wrong because We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers. The purpose of the tree was not to enslave man in sin, but to bring man into a higher form and to trap an enemy in such an elaborate plan that the enemy’s prideful self could never comprehend.

God has an adversary whose name is, you guessed it, Adversary. But he wasn’t always the adversary; he was an angel of worship for God named Lucifer. After God created man (plural), Lucifer noticed the relationship between man and his God and sought for himself a similar relationship with man.

The Adversary took claim over the earth and man after having sinisterly caused the fall of man. And for the next 4000 years the enemy would try to stop the Redeemer who was coming to crush his authority. The Adversary tried to accomplish this [Genesis 6] by destroying man and infecting man’s bloodline (man’s genealogy) with his own offspring to ensure that through his bloodline some form of power and authority remained in his favor. But God thwarted those plans with a flood which destroyed the infected bloodlines on the earth. And then after the flood God separated for himself a true descendent of man whose name was Abraham, to create a nation of people (Israel) whose bloodline was completely human to bring forth the Redeemer. If the Redeemer’s bloodline had been infected with the Adversaries bloodline, then the Adversary would have gained authority through the Redeemer the same way man has gained authority through the Redeemer.

After the flood, the Adversary continued to twist man’s mind. So God instituted a set of laws, the Ten Commandments, that were so strict that there was literally no way any human man could follow all of them. However, the purpose of the Law was to guarantee Israel’s human (non-infected) bloodline to bring forth the Redeemer. The downside to these laws was death for those who disobeyed them. The fulfillment of the Law, of course, would come when the Redeemer was born.

The Redeemer was born approximately 4000 years after the falling away from God in the garden. Now the Redeemer fulfilled the Law when he was born. But the Adversary, through man, used the Law to kill the Redeemer. The Law was specifically designed by God to separate men of Grace from men of Law. For the ones that truly understand the nature of God understand the Grace of God, the ones that deny God’s Grace cling to the Law. And again the Law fulfilled its purpose for those who twisted the Law resulting in the killing of the Redeemer of Man so that He could be the Sacrificial Lamb, as planned by God, and bring us back to a one-on-one relationship with God our Father.

By killing the Redeemer of Man, the Law abolished itself. For the Redeemer of Man gained All Power and All Authority in heaven and in the earth, and on the earth and under the earth. Thus, and therefore, the Law has become known as the Law of Death. But unbeknownst even to the Angels of Heaven this was the plan all along. The Redeemer had brought an end to the Law, Death, Hell and the Grave! The Law was Finished! Abolished!

    Faith in the Grace

After the Redeemer was resurrected, He returned to God the Father in heaven with all power and authority in heaven and earth. He left us man to continue in faith to spread the Good News of God’s Grace, Mercy and Love around the world. Faith for man is this: that the Redeemer has returned to man our ‘one-on-one’ relationship with God the Father in Heaven just as we once had the ‘one-on-one’ relationship with God on the earth; and with our resurrected bodies we will be able to behold the glory and power of God in heaven; and also that the Redeemer has given to man His Power and Authority for us here on earth. And that man should not live by Grace alone but by every Word that comes from the mouth of God. This is the ‘Age of Faith’ that we live in today!

After the Redeemer crushed the Adversary’s authority around 32 A.D., He cast the Adversary down to the earth. Having been cast out of heaven, the Adversary went to war against the remaining offspring of man. And what better way to attack a period of Grace and Faith for man then with God’s own Word – the Law. The Adversary, Satan, regurgitated the Law and used it to pervert man’s mind against God’s Holy Grace. Christ used an analogy to describe how Grace and the Law do not mix. In Matthew 9:17, Mark 2:22 and Luke 5:37, Christ said the new wine will burst the old wineskins and the new patch will tear away from the old cloth. There is no way that the two can function normally together without destructive consequences. We see this in almost every church today that accepts both the Law and Grace. For by doing so those churches miss out on God’s healing, power, authority, and His voice. All the gifts that are promised to us in the New Testament by God cannot be fulfilled in a church that carries both Law and Grace. This interpretation of Revelations will not be understood and accepted by those who follow the Law because it is only by the Grace of God, where you understand God’s love, that this interpretation of His Love and Mercy will be revealed in your heart.

    Misuse of the Law

Since God gave us Grace, Faith, Mercy and Love, the Law has been used by the Adversary to destroy them. The Law attacked the redeemed after the Redeemer ascended to heaven.

The Adversary rebirthed the Law into perverted religions; Perverted religions that have a form of godliness but deny the Power, Grace, Mercy and Love of the resurrected Redeemer. They create worshipers of the Law (the Ten Commandments) rather than worshipers of the Truth. The Law creates church-goers rather than Sons of the Living God. In the Book of Revelations, the churches of the Adversary are referred to as the beast; a singular religion against God. The Adversary uses the Beast to increase his overall goal – to destroy man.

But again, God has a plan. This plan of revelations has been laid out throughout his Holy Word by God, to you, through the Holy Spirit working through His people.

Man must live by Faith. The Redeemer, also known as Christ Jesus of Nazareth, fulfilled his position by God and defeated the Adversary. This is why the entire Book of Revelation is written in past tense form. As a man or woman of faith in Christ Jesus we must be ready to receive what Christ has given to man which is the Power and Authority to defeat the Adversary.

It is our trek in life in these 2000 years since Christ’s resurrection, which occurred around 32 A.D., to walk in God’s Grace, Mercy, and Love. To be faithful, claiming all the Authority and Power that our Redeemer, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, died for and paid for at the Cross! And to exercise that Authority and Power against the Adversary and those that follow the Beast (the Adversary’s religion).

(Micah 6:8) Human being, you have already been told what is good, what ADONAI demands of you – no more than to act justly, love Grace and walk in purity with your God.

And that’s an Old Testament Scripture.

    Greater Things Will You Do!

Let me explain the power and authority that believers and lovers of God should exercise. Christ told us that we will do greater things once He ascends to the Father than Christ Himself did here on earth. Of course, He is referring to man as a whole not one singular man. And also the word tells us that as Christ is, so are you in this world! – First John 4:17.

Christ IS: Healthy, Strong, Intelligent, Handsome, Beautiful, Hopeful, Loving, Full Of Grace, Merciful, Kind, Gentle, Having All Authority, Having All Power, Having All Knowledge, Tender, Caring, Peaceful, Righteous, Everlasting, Lord Of Lords, King Of Kings, High Priest; All Things! – And so you are also!

Christ DID: Heal The Sick, Raise The Dead, Abolish The Law, Defeat The Adversary, Care For The Sick, Show Compassion, Speak, Listen, Manifest God’s Will, Free Every Man, Worship The Father, Pray, Command Life, Command Death, Rebuke The Adversary, Rebuke Death, Cast Out Fear, Love Everyone, Love His Enemies! – – And greater things will you do!

You HAVE this Power and Authority of God because of the Sacrifice of the Redeemer, our Lord Jesus Christ. DO NOT ALLOW any person or religion, or any other Spirit, to tell you anything different. It is heartbreaking to see people so beat down and wounded by the Adversary’s work. But soon, at the end of this Age of Faith and Grace, Christ himself will complete His finished work.

Today, a person’s religion represents their belief in who God is and what God is. It may also reflect a person’s character and give insight as to how these people may treat others. So at the core of a person is their religion, even if they tell you they don’t believe in a God. But yet, God still loves them all. That’s my God! The God that Loves and died for EVERYONE! AMEN!!

CHAPTER 2 - DECIPHERING THE LAST DAYS

Scripture interprets Scripture, Old Testament and New Testament must agree on a topic, such as the identity of Jesus of Nazareth being the Messiah. The walk of Christ and His church in the New Testament is backed by the prophets of the Old Testament. Had the New Testament not agreed with the Old Testament, you would not come to the conclusion that Christ Jesus is the one true Messiah.

So it should also be when interpreting other ideas or events in Scripture. For instance, there is the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. Many prophets of the Old Testament warned of it. Matthew, Mark and Luke wrote of it. And it occurred in 70 A.D. just the way Jesus spoke of it.

Now the Book of Revelation is no different. It must be backed by the Old Testament with same conclusions. It cannot be a guess work of ideas either. Revelations cannot be a theory. Facts must support the objective with the Old and New Testament books mirroring to a same conclusion. Only then will the puzzle parable Book of Revelation be brought to life.

    The Mercy of God

Most of us have heard the story of Sodom and Amora (Gomorrah) in Genesis chapters 18 and 19, where God was willing to spare the lives of an entire city full of wicked people as long as there were at least 10 righteous. And also about the story of the great city of Nineveh, it was so big that it took three days to cross it. God sent his servant Jonah to warn them that the city Nineveh would be overthrown in 14 days because of their wickedness. They repented and God spared them. Why? God is full of mercy!

So fast forward to the last days where it has been said that God is going to destroy everything in a horrific seven-year tribulation. Hogwash! Far be it for me to dispute this adopted claim but I must! The interpretation of the Book of Revelation has been misinterpreted too long.

We serve a God who is full of and is Grace, Mercy, Patience and Loving toward us. He died for everyone, not just good people. A good father would never harm his son or daughter. Our God in Heaven only wants us to live and prosper. And that is the way it was when we were created except that man (Adam) put on us a curse that has lasted almost 6000 years. However the time is near for God to finish many things. One is restoring his people from that curse that we brought upon ourselves 6000 years ago.

    Birth of Tribulation

It’s easy to understand how we can read the Book of Revelation and the Book of Daniel and come to a conclusion that in the last days there will be seven years of tribulation time. Both books give an amount of 1260 days which equals three and half years in simple translation terms. But God hides much of His prophecies in plain sight until the time is ready for it to be revealed. These ‘days’ will be explained in more detail in a later section.

The book of Daniel was written for Daniel’s time. And Daniel did not live in Jerusalem or Israel after he was a child. He was taken to the northern country when he was a child which today is the country of Turkey. Daniel, a man of God, was an ambassador of God to the Gentile nations of his time. Many of his writings were visions of things to come in the nation by which he was taken captive, again present-day Turkey. Much of his writings also represent our calendar past however there is one of the most prominent writings for the last days in Daniel chapter seven in which God specifically gave information to Daniel about Israel. But most all of the prophecies given to Daniel were for the upcoming Kingdom that was going to rule the Middle East in that time. Some of these other prophecies are often mistaken for our ‘last days’ when we expect Christ to return. However, God did not burden Daniel with too much ‘last day’ information, rather He told Daniel, But you, Daniel, keep these words secret, and seal up the book, until the time of the end. Many will rush here and there as knowledge increases. (Daniel 12:4)

When a reader reads the Book of Revelation from front to back, representing a linear translation, and then adds up all the days that are within this book, it is simple to see how a seven-year tribulation is birthed. The problem though is that the Book of Revelation is not a linear translation! The Book of Revelation is a history lesson, a future document, a parable, a vision of the future, a vision of heaven, and a vision of our Lord’s love for the people He created. But what’s most interesting is that this book is a puzzle, a puzzle to keep the intelligent and the curious mystified about the last days until the last days are literally here.

God’s hand wrote the Book of Revelation even though a man’s hand had to write it for us. This is how God works. If a man doesn’t do the will of God for man, the will of God does not get done for man. Now God is a divine Healer, yet, when one prays for a healing God does choose to use His earthly doctors many times to bring you that healing, even though a lot of times we cannot decipher why. God always has a purpose!

This author believes that this translation (this book) is the will of God for this time. Its purpose is to destroy the fears of man about a ruthless and tyrannical God that is coming to annihilate this planet. The fact is we serve a loving and merciful God. A God that is not pleased with destroying man, this is the Adversaries objective, but sent His Son to save all of us by sacrificing Himself for us! Why would Christ Jesus lovingly come to save us all and then turn around and destroy us all with eternal fire, it just doesn’t make sense? Our Loving God does have a plan for dealing with those that refuse Love. It’s a plan that’s not worldwide but it’s focused specifically in the Middle East even though its’ ramifications will have an impact on the entire earth. But it’s still not global Armageddon.

This teaching is a fresh and unique look at Christ’s return to earth. It destroys the seven-year tribulation theory taught by churches today. It is backed by Scripture and the overall picture makes sense! You will come to the knowledge of what will and what will not (what some have taught) be occurring at Christ’s return. Plus you will be given a good ‘step-by-step’, ‘as they occur’ order of events in the order that they take place that will be broken up into sections by their topic. And to get a better overall diagram, you can transfer the information and diagrams in this book to a large poster board. Because after doing this and re-studying the Word of God you will find that none of the information I have given you will conflict with any other part of the word of God. But if for some reason in the future I have made a mistake, I will correct it. The Truth is what is being sought after in this translation!

    To Sum It Up

The Word of God has been translated throughout the centuries by people expecting a dictator God, a God who will throw down the Law when He returns and sentence man with some sort of tyranny. But my God is full of Mercy and His name is Grace. If you don’t study the Word of God you could get manipulated by those who believe that God is out to get you when you make a mistake and they often use parts of Scriptures to back their claim. So often, interpreting who God is and His Word is based on a person’s belief of who God is, and who Christ is, rather than using God’s own book to define Him. This is why you must study God’s Word for yourself. A person’s time is usually used up by raising a family and work. So they allow their beliefs to be defined by the person who sits in the pulpit of their church. That is if they have time for church anyway? But do not worry, God made the time for this book because He wants you to understand that the ‘last days’ is not a time of fear for those that call him Lord, that it is a time of Grace and Mercy all the way through the Book of Revelation. And that you are not to fear this time that is coming very soon, but to understand it, to be ready, and to tell everyone about our Loving God!

CHAPTER 3 - THE YEAR OF OUR LORD

As was said before, the best place to learn about Revelation’s is from the Old Testament. The latter part of the Bible in the Old Testament books is packed with ‘last days’ information. In Isaiah 63:4 For the day of vengeance that was in my heart and my year of redemption have come, gives us a clue about the timeframe of the last days. This suggests that there is one day of vengeance and then a year of redemption at the time of His return. But what good is reading one verse if we do not take it in context with the surrounding verses as so many people do. Many people take Scripture out of context because they failed to read the surrounding idea. So to better understand this Scripture we will start with the beginning of chapter 63 of Isaiah.

[1] Who is this, coming from Edom, from Botzrah with clothing stained crimson, so magnificently dressed, so stately in his great strength?

It is I, who speak victoriously, I, well able to save.
