It was high time that they gave him this office. Mel had been smacking his lips over the VP's corner office space since he had started here almost twenty years ago. Had it really been that long? Twenty years ago, twenty pounds ago, two wives ago and an illegitimate kid ago, Mel had poured his life blood into the firm of Sandford, Ritchy and Batt. Almost literally, he had experienced chest pains in the meeting with Reebok last year but he wouldn't leave the table until they signed on. That contract was worth more than thirty million and probably the biggest reason that he was about to move upstairs.

Then he had his heart attack. No muss, no fuss, he was back to work the next week and smoking cigars in the employee's lunch room as usual. Nothing was going to hold him back, not then, not now, not ever. Mel could almost taste victory and his friend Lewis gave him that knowing smile, eyebrows up, suggesting that they were all rooting for him. Lewis sidled up to Mel and elbowed him in the gut, it's finally your time, buddy. Can't you just feel it in the air?

The two of them peered over the tops of cubicles and watched their staff buzz around like bees in a hive, everyone had their part. This company had consisted of twenty staff back when Mel started. He'd outlasted almost everyone else, only him and Rich Sandford had survived and Sandford only flew in now for the occasional meeting with the big fish. He was rich enough that he didn't have to and frankly, he couldn't do the daily grind anymore. That was only for the warriors, like Mel. I can feel something, he nodded and his eyes zoomed in a new pair of legs. Who's the hottie? he tilted his head to the front and he and Lewis studied the stunner as she rose from her seat and walked down the center of the aisle.

She was blonde and less than half their ages. She was younger than Mel's kid that he never saw but he didn't let any of that bother him. Age was just a number, at least that was what he told himself over the last decade and the new girls in the office, picking them, hunting them, fucking them, it was part of the game. It kept him young. Lewis gulped and shook his head, I have no idea but it seems like we should introduce ourselves.
