    1. Introduction

The oldest of six siblings he was relieved when his family moved to the suburbs. When his father became ill and had to stop working, life changed dramatically for Mick in ways that were almost unbelievable. A stint in the military did not ease the wounds he felt. Only later in prison would he come to realize the questions that tormented him. Why were some children raised as though they were in two separate families in the same house? How did everything go so wrong? What caused people to harbor resentment and emotional trauma that only manifested itself as anger when children became adults? What caused them to forgive? Well he was out of prison now and he wanted to understand the answers to these questions.. This is the story of one man’s journey from a naive happy boy, to fear and anger. Then to acceptance and forgiveness, and letting go.
