    In The Tale of Pigling Bland, an old sow sends away her eight rambunctious children. One of them, Pigling Bland gets lost in the woods and spends the night in a strange chicken-coop. The owner, a farmer named Peter Piperson offers to let Pigling Bland stay at his farm, but Pigling Bland isn't sure that's a good idea. When he meets a beautiful black pig named Pig-Wig, the two make plans to escape. The nineteenth of Beatrix Potter's 22 charmingly illustrated tales of animals in amusing situations, The Tale of Mr. Tod has delighted children and adults alike since its release in 1913.

    Helen Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) was an English writer, illustrator, scientist, and conservationist best known for her children's books featuring animals. Written as a gift for the son of her former governess, The Tale of Peter Rabbit was published in 1901. Its success enabled her to commit to full-time writing and illustrating. Potter wrote about 30 books; the best known being her 24 children's tales.

      Unless the weird adventures of a prissy pig appeal to you this one is forgettable.

      Pigling Bland has to leave home, and sets off on a little adventure. He stays in the house of a nasty man who has a little pig girl he plans to make into bacon. The two of them escape to the next county through Pigling’s cunning.
