Before we get into the heart of the matter – fun with Blackjack and Craps, let’s look at some Casino etiquette that may come in handy. There are a lot of rules, of etiquette yes, but also regulations enforced by the various Casinos. We won’t spend time on the latter because you can be sure the Casino will be quick, and not shy, about letting you know if they think you’ve transgressed any of their many regulations.
There is also common sense – things you really shouldn’t need to study beforehand – drinking in moderation comes to mind. If you’re a bit tipsy at a slot machine you are more than likely not bothering anybody else. But if you are half plastered at a table, most people aren’t going to enjoy dealing with someone’s drunken antics.
Don’t give advice, don’t tell others how to play, and don’t tell others how they should have played. These seemingly obvious tips go ignored far too often to the aggravation of pretty much everyone else.
There are some other not so obvious alerts you may want to be aware of:
Don’t hand cash to a Casino employee. If you are betting, lay it on the table so everyone, including the overhead eye in the sky
can see what’s happening.
Don’t learn your game at the table, unless you are solo and the dealer is okay with it, or if the Casino is giving lessons as they often do.
Don’t take your phone out of your pocket – nobody wants to know and it could be construed as trying to cheat. Some Casinos have confiscated players phones till after they leave the table.
Don’t eat at the table – yes, some people do!
Don’t ask the dealer how you should play your next hand or move – even if they try to be polite this is a no win for the dealer.
Don’t overstay your welcome; unfortunately the people who should be following this rule rarely know they are the one that should be leaving.
