Chapter 1
Landeer here comes another one to the port side.
Ric was on the bridge. Pointing out the ships as they came at them. This was the second planet they found the escaped prisoners had stopped on.
Tell Sacha to seal the planet once it is healed. If we can disable the ships in space we can have them ready for her to heal.
Landeer was giving the information to Krig who was leading the fighters.
Ric had the handheld and was giving Sacha the information Landeer had given him. He was training to be Captain of the GashTar. Captain Andier was going to be helping on the Neereen since he had fallen for one of the crew and she had family and friends over there.
I have healed the planet and the people that are left. Putting the shield up now.
Sacha had stayed above the planet. Ric, I have to go onto the planet to clean the nuclear waste. They bombed each other and there are many dead. This won’t take long, but I am going to creating some healers.
Be careful Sacha. We will have the ships ready when you’re done.
He worried when she was down on planet. She worked so hard to repair the damage Prostol did.
Landeer she has to clean up nuclear waste and create some healers. She will be here when she is done.
Ric turning back to the viewer. His job was to alert Krig to the ships so they could disable them. Here come one on you aft. Krig he’s trying to go behind you.
"Fighter four disable that ship going behind Krig, the fighter tried to get around to fire on the Trogarian, but they fired on Krig’s ship first.
I’m hit. I’m hit. All systems are going offline.
They heard the alarms in the fighter.
Landeer hit communications. All fighters create a barrier around fighter one’s ship. He is hit and his ship is offline. I repeat create a barrier.
All fighters started surrounding the crippled ship. The Trogarians fired on the ships, but they had shields on at full. Meanwhile Krig was trying to patch the shields in so at least he was covered.
Ric grabbed his handheld. Sacha, are you there. Sacha, we have an emergency.
One of the fighters made a lucky shot that hit Krig’s ship. I am hit. One more hit and you won’t have to worry about shielding me. My system is on fire. I am on handheld. Life support at twenty percent. I could use some help here.
Sacha, are you there.
Ric was calling down over and over.
Ric, I’m a little busy here. I..
He cut her off. Krig is hit. He only has twenty percent life support. Can you leave now?
I will be there. Which ship is he by?
She was finishing awakening the last healer.
He is on the port side of the Neereen. Hurry Sacha, one more hit he is done.
There was no answer back. Ric hoped this meant she went to energy and was on her way. He looked to the viewer just as a shot hit Krig’s ship and it exploded.
Everyone was staring at the screen in horror. Suddenly Sacha and Krig were on the bridge. Krig was in bad shape, but alive. Sacha leaned over him and started the healing. She had to put a lot of power on this. He was bleeding badly from the inside. She was Closing wounds as fast as she could. His heart had taken a hit and had a tear. She sealed the tear and sent healing to it. His back was broken in three places. She healed them, but he would need help with moving around until the nervous system regained its feelings.
He is physically healed, but his back was broken in three places. He will need more help than just this healing. I am going to have Flora work with him until he is completely healed.
She looked to the viewer. How many ships do they have?
Landeer answered this. We have seen twenty-seven. They are excellent pilots. Krig had his shield down to fire when they fired or they would never had hit him.
How many are disabled?
She was trying to think of a way to stop this.
Only nine so far. They have shields. Not as good as ours, but hard to get through.
Ric saw another one. fighter three there is a ship directly under you.
Flora, I need you to come to the bridge with a stretcher. Captain Krig is down.
Looking to the viewer I our fighters fire bouncing off the Trogarian ships. The door slid open and two of the crew gently lifted Krig onto the stretcher. Flora, I need you to concentrate your healing on the nerves and muscle in his back. I have repaired the bones, but the nerves will have to reset in his system.
Looking to Ric. I am going out to help the fighters. I can disable a ship faster than they can.
Fighter three tell your squad if they see a ship just spot that Sacha is out helping now.
Landeer called out.
Sacha went right through the shields and one by one disabled their ships. Between the fighters and herself all the ships finally became disabled. She rounded the ships to one location and healed all the Trogarians. She then took the ships and landed them on the planet. Ric, I need the ship to scan and make sure there are no more of their ships out there. Once I close the shield they won’t make it back on the planet.
We are doing long range scanning now.
Ric and Landeer looked at the scans carefully. There was none of the Trogarian ship signatures anywhere. All clear up here.
All fighters are docked on the battle cruiser and our shields are up."
Once the ships were all docked she went in search of the leaders of Trogaria. There was so much destruction she repaired what was needed, but they would have to work together to repair the rest. The healers were busy with those that could be saved. Finding the one she was looking for.
You came back.
He was looking at the people trying to find family. You saved our planet. What can we do for you? It is our custom to repay all debts.
He looked to Sacha.
You owe me nothing. All your ships are docked, but those on the ships and knocked out. The healers will see to them when they come to. Your people will have to work together to repair the damage that has been done. I have cleaned all the nuclear waste from your planet and started new crops. Your animals have all been replaced. You will have food and your water source is clean. You will not be able to leave your planet, nor will anyone be able to land on it. The infection that caused this can be brought back. I am leaving now, but will repair some of your buildings so you will have a place to live until repairs are complete.
Going to energy she quickly ran over the planet and repaired areas for the population to gather and supplies to repair.
Returning to the GashTar she looked to the planet from the ship. There is so much loss on their world.
Looking to Ric she walked over and wrapped her arms around him. This is where she felt safe and calm. He was her rock in the storm her life had become. We need to check on Krig.
Medical was busy. The Furitians that had been tortured by Prostol were finally putting the weight and muscle they lost back on. They still came by Medical once a day for checkups and any nutrients the scan showed they needed, but they were smiling now. Krig was awake and on a bed. He was sitting up, but looked tired.
I hear you saved my life again. Thank you.
Grimacing as he shifted. I think that was my last time in a fighter. The only thing I could think of before that last shot came through was of my wife and children.
Flora, will be working on your back for several more days. Your back was broken in three places. I fixed the bones and repaired your spinal cord, but the nerves and muscles around them will need time to heal. You were very fortunate to be alive Krig. I almost didn’t make it in time.
This bothered her the most. If you would like to train more fighter pilot you have a lot of experience. They will need all the help they can"
I never thought about training anyone.
He thought about what she said. That is a great idea. Once I am release can you have a training area for me on the battle cruiser?
It will be ready. I will get you a handheld to get me a plan of what you need.
Smiling at Ric she went to get him a handheld from a cabinet.
Do you know how lucky you are? She really loves you.
Krig looked Ric in the eye.
She is my entire world. I love her more than anything. I know exactly how lucky I am.
Ric had looked to where Sacha had moved to.
Here is a new handheld. Your other one was destroyed.
Handing him a newer model than his old one.
Krig looked at the new one and shook his head. I had the other one since I was a cadet. Well, looks like I am going to learn this new one now.
Once he started working he forgot they were there.
Sacha turned as she felt someone behind her. I am Vegrot, we have been wanting to meet with you. I hope you do not mind me asking.
That is no problem. We can meet in the conference room down the hall if you like.
She turned to Ric to make sure he could join her.
That will work. I will gather the rest and meet you there.
Vegrot turned to the rest of his crew and told them where to go.
Ric looked at Sacha. I wonder what that’s all about?
The conference room was comfortable for the crew, but Sacha still put a pitcher of drink in there for them. As they came in the room sitting Sacha noticed Vegrot stood. I was the Captain of the ship our crew was on. We have tried to find out what happened, but the crew of the GashTar while very polite will not tell us more than the basics. I am asking you to please tell us why we were in such poor shape.
Have the crew explained about your planet and the evil that spread?
She looked to Vegrot.
Yes, Landeer has explained all of this to us. We mourn for our planet and the loved ones we lost. We have asked were our ship is. Will you tell us nothing?
He had a pleading look on his face.
We actually don’t know where your ship is. You were found on Tininite on Councilman Prostol’s property. He had taken you prisoner and was using you to infect others. You were found in a barrack underground. I have vids of what you looked like when you arrived, but I will warn you it is disturbing.
She looked to each face in the room. They were determined to find out what happened. She pulled the viewer up to the correct setting. The bridge was busy when she popped into it with their group. The deep breaths she heard told her they saw themselves before the healing."
Why would anyone do such a thing to us. We looked like we had been tortured for a long time.
One of the women whispered.
Actually, you were. When I found you, you were chained to a wall. I am sorry, but this is why no one would talk about it. We have been making sure you have the very best care and Landeer and the rest have been checking on you.
She knew they were shocked, but they deserved to know why they had fears and woke screaming at night.
The person who did this to us. Has he been captured?
Vegrot sounded hoarse as he watched them being put on stretchers and being taken to medical.
Yes, we have him incarcerated. The Council refused to punish him on Tininite.
Sacha looked to Ric.
Ric was looking at the crew. He can’t get out. There is no way. He was infected the same as you, but he embraced it.
Ric had noticed anger had started to settle on many of the faces. We would like to face the person who had us tortured. We realize he has been placed in your brig, but we can at least see him face to face.
He isn’t in the brig. We have him in a room on the ship. He is looked in and can’t contact anyone. Since he was infected this was the only solution we could come up with.
Sacha looked down at her hands. She missed the look of surprise on Vegrot’s face.
So, there has been no justice? He is to sit in a comfortable room after he abused and tortured us? I feel this is unjust and would speak to the judges that gave his sentence.
Everyone nodded and looked to Sacha and Ric.
Sacha walked back over to the viewer and pulled up the trial. Everyone in the room sat and watched what seemed to be an amateur trial. Ric watched their faces as they watched everyone’s questions and the answers from Prostol. He went ahead and used his handheld to contact Rinda and Landeer. They were coming to talk to the crew. At the end of the trial Sacha heard herself and had to agree the punishment didn’t fit the crime. She hung her head at what Vegrot and his crew must think of her.
The conference room door opened to Rinda and Landeer coming in. This is why none of us would answer your questions. There was no suitable answer to give you peace.
You allowed her to talk you into letting Prostol live.
Vegrot pointed at Sacha. She is but a child, but you know our laws. Our own judges would not have allowed this man to live in luxury after the things he has done.
Sneering at Landeer. You saw what had happened to us. He was a Councilman and so knew the laws. Why not send him to C-3 as the other prisoners had been. Is he to get better treatment?
Sacha couldn’t stand it anymore and left the room. Tears of shame running down her face. Ric watched her leave. That
child saved your life, as well as everyone’s life one these ships. She has had the pressure of entire planets on her shoulders, but you are upset that Prostol didn’t get the punishment that you think he deserved.
Looking at the room in
