About this ebook

This is a provocative book on human nature by an author who has the mind-set of a philosopher, sociologist, economist and humorist all rolled into one, a mind-set much like rubber, i.e., very flexible in thought and capable of covering a wide range of subjects. He gingerly philosophizes his way through the book using the method of ridicule to comment on a wide range of topics ranging from relationships to how to eradicate world poverty. There will be much to tickle the funny bone. As a number of the topics touched on have intellectual appeal, there will be intellectual stimulation as well. The book thus serves the dual purpose of entertainment and personal development. It is indeed a havoc of a book by a self-proclaimed havoc "king". Welcome to the HAVOC with its power of inspiring good feelings!

Wisecracks For Good Luck And Success - Richard West

    PREFACE

This book contains humor and observations of human nature. It will bring cheer. The provocativeness of the ideas will act as an intellectual spur. The book will tickle the funny bone, enliven the spirit, expand the mind. All this will lead to the right frame of mind for success. To achieve great success, such as excelling in exams, work, sports, etc., having the right frame of mind is highly important, e.g., top athletes have psyched themselves, attained the right frame of mind, in order to win or break records. Having the right frame of mind is being intellectually alert with one’s wit about one, calm, collected, in control, at peace, and mentally prepared. This is good luck exemplified. A pessimistic, anxious and depressed mind-set will not help one to perform a job well.

The book will help you to achieve success by stimulating your mind through provocative ideas, and creating good feelings and the right frame of mind. It can be read in any order, from the front, the back, the middle, etc., as the ideas therein are standalone.

    CONTENTS

    Treasury Of Wisecracks

    TREASURY OF WISECRACKS

[1] There is always the question of whether leaders are born or made. Can leadership courses

make a leader? How about leaders who inherit positions, e.g., thrones?

[2] A leader should have leadership qualities, e.g., intelligence, integrity, charisma, courage,

character, knowledge, expertise, ability to inspire. A follower may have more of these

qualities than a leader and make a better leader wherein the leader should follow the follower.

[3] It’s the dream of everyone to be a leader. Be a leader. Lead, or, be led, even dictated to by a

    dictator.

[4] It’s everyone’s dream to be a leader. Anyone can be a leader, at least in a dream.

[5] It’s everyone’s dream to be a leader. But a leader’s leadership skill may be so poor that he

can  be sarcastically said to be fit to lead only animals, e.g., dogs and cats, or even lower

forms of life, e.g., bacteria and viruses.

[6] A leader’s leadership skill may be so poor that he can be sarcastically said to be fit to lead

only animals, e.g., dogs and cats. Worse, some animals may not think he’s fit to lead them -

try leading carnivores, e.g., cougars and panthers, and see whether he’ll end up as leader or

    lunch.

[7] A leader’s leadership skill may be such that he is deemed a poor leader by his fellowmen

such that he can be sarcastically said to be fit to lead only animals, e.g., dogs and cats.

However, he will be regarded by some carnivorous animals, e.g., cougars and panthers, as a

    delicious leader.

[8] It’s everyone’s dream to be a leader. But a wise person may dream of being a follower ........

of an excellent leader who really takes care of his followers.

[9] Everyone has dreams of being a leader. But after becoming a leader the person may have

    nightmares.

[10] A leader who has great vision, i.e., a visionary, may be lacking in real vision, i.e., almost

blind and with very thick glasses.

[11] Without good followers there will not be good leaders. Good leaders inspire followers to do

good. Bad followers cause leaders to fail. Good leaders to come first or good followers?

[12] A leader should not ask others Please follow me. A leader should be told by others "I

want to follow you." This is real leadership.

[13] Great Leader Cum Servile Follower: A guy may be a great leader to his people. At home, he

may be a servile follower led by a dictatorial wife.

[14] If everyone wants to lead and no one wants to follow, then? Power struggle?

[15] What style of leadership is best - democratic, autocratic or free-rein? In the case of free-rein

leadership anyone can be a leader as this leadership style lets every follower do as he or she

    likes.

[16] The best is when everyone is intelligent, moral and with sense of justice, knowing how to

act responsibly and well, whereby there is no need for a leader.

[17] Ideally leadership should be a case of I follow you where you are better than me, you follow

me where I am better than you.

[18] Everyone is some way a leader, e.g., a boy leading his playmates, a supervisor leading his

workers, a teacher leading his students, an executive chef his cooks, a father or mother their

kids, a zoo keeper his animals, and so on.

[19] Needless to say, a leader should lead willing followers and not force followers to follow him.

[20] There are leadership courses and training for leaders, to create good leaders. Good leaders

also need good followers in order to achieve desired results. Without good followers there

won’t be good leaders. Where are the courses or training for creating good followers? Or

are followers to be mindless automatons obediently following their leaders?

[21] Believe it or not that we can make ourselves happy by making ourselves sad, e.g., enjoying

    sad movies and sad novels.

[22] According to William Shakespeare the world's a stage and we are all actors on this stage.

Thus life could be regarded as a stage show.

[23] A possible answer to the question What is the objective of living? is We live for fun.

    Doesn’t it sound frivolous?

[24] How many workers would say they rather work for enjoyment or fun than salary? As we

spend most of our life working we should enjoy the work and not so much the salary.

    Bosses would agree!

[25] On Personal Beauty: A man/woman looking at a mirror may see a beast staring back at

    him/her, giving a fright.

[26] A great beauty may, sadly, have only one admirer - herself, always looking admiringly at

    the mirror.

[27] Another great beauty may, sadly, have not even a single admirer - herself always looking

admiringly at the mirror, admiring the mirror.

[28] A man or woman who’s not confident of his or her looks may secretly wish others can’t see

    that clearly.

[29] The Mother Of All Regrets: A person may regret having so many regrets.

[30] As for Christmas and New Year, how nice if the New Year never comes and we never age!

[31] If only Santa Claus could provide us the present of agelessness, i.e., never aging.

[32] Is time-travel possible? Life is time-traveling, from birth to death.

[33] We’re familiar with all kinds of dates, some well-liked, others not so, and others indifferent,

e.g., dates of birthdays and anniversaries, edible dates, human dates, etc.

[34] Possibility: Beauty pestered by persistent suitor for dates gives the hapless guy box of dates

saying "You want dates. I give
