About this ebook

Samuel Driver had been a thug, a thief, and a career criminal — until the moment he got killed. His violent escapades secured him a place in Hell, but his fighting spirit earned him a reprieve, and a chance to walk the Earth once again.

Contracted to become a male Succubus — a reaper of masculine life forces — Sam discovers a hidden talent for seducing men. He becomes so proficient, his demonic caseworker singles him out for a special task, one that will earn him extra credit and even improve the conditions of his demonic contract.

But the task is far from straightforward, and Sam must summon all his guile in order to seduce a specific man, a campaigning anti-gay politician described as ‘completely and utterly one-hundred-percent heterosexual.’

Tough gig.

    OUTDOOR THRILL

My first call was to Karl Pellow. Since I’d delivered his unconscious body back to his house the previous week, I knew exactly where to find him. I also knew he had a dog because I heard it barking from the street. Karl had been a fun lay, and an unexpected one. When I’d called at Freddie’s house — his swinging wife had lured me to their marriage bed — I’d interrupted him and Karl having sex while Jill was out. When I invited myself in, Karl had embraced the idea of a threesome, and we’d all had some fun. Sure, Karl and Freddie had passed out when I reaped a portion of their souls, but that was the way things went.

My other reason for visiting Karl was to figure out if he remembered anything that had happened. I didn’t want to leave a trail of broken gay and bisexual men in my wake. Sooner or later, someone would have spotted a pattern, and my game would have ended.

It wasn’t long before Karl emerged from the house, with a black poodle on a leash. I let him get a hundred yards ahead before I followed, planning to catch him up as he reached the fields alongside the housing estate. But as he crossed a street, he spotted me before I was ready.

Hey, aren’t you — he began.

I made sure I spoke at the same time. It’s Karl, isn’t it?

Sam? he asked. What are you doing here?

I extended my hand, and we shook like long-lost buddies. I was looking for you, I confessed. There was no point in me inventing some bullshit story. I wanted to talk.

He smiled. I was thinking about you earlier.

    You were?

Yeah. What we had at Freddie’s place? That was fun.

It was. And I can’t stop thinking about it.

He glanced around, then lowered his voice. You want to hook up again?

Sure. I nodded, mentally acknowledging the fact that the experience hadn’t scared, scarred or put him off sex. He’d fallen unconscious after coming, and probably remembered very little of what happened afterward. Maybe the surreal nature of the encounter had added spice to his memory. Whatever, he didn’t seem nervous about a second meeting.

There’s a stand of trees a quarter mile away. We can go in there.

Oh? I was taken aback. "You meant now?"

Haven’t you ever done it outdoors?

Of course, I lied. Sex outdoors had been a high-risk activity in the 1970s. Getting caught meant a serious beating from the cops. I thought you meant we would go back to your place.

I’m a married man, he reminded me.

Of course. I glanced around. How long do you have?

As long as it takes. He winked. Sometimes I walk Jodie for hours.

Good, I thought. You’re going to need all the time you can get.

    * * * *

I felt sorry for the dog. Poor Jodie’s leash was secured to a low branch the moment we were out of sight. Karl put his arms around me and went straight for the kiss. I was startled
