About this ebook
As Horn Helmet moved closer to the fruit stand, wisps of mist poured around the front and into the back inching closer and closer to Max. Max’s heart beat faster. That hollow sound began to get louder. Max could now hear some kind of eerie whispering. A skeleton hand inched over the edge of the counter. Slowly Helmet’s helmet came into view as he peered over the edge. It was getting nearer and nearer. Soon he would see Max.
Max is still reeling from waking up in the strange world of New Town. And the talking magical wand isn’t helping. The wand tells Max it is time to begin his quest to end the spell that is shifting the modern world into the ancient world. But Max is no hero; he just wants to go home.
At least Max won’t be alone on his journey. After a run-in with some bounty hunters, Max befriends another from his world, Ryan. Believing Max to be a great hero, Ryan joins the quest. But he quickly uncovers Max’s insecure nature.
Soon, the two come across a village targeted for invasion. Can Max find his courage in time to save the town?
If you are a fan of magic and adventure, join Max as he begins his journey to fulfill his destiny in the latest Wizard of New Town book.

One day while on a field trip, I was bitten by a radioactive writer. Thus, I was granted the proportional imagination and typing speed of a writer. I also found that I could stick notes to walls and developed an early warning “grammar sense.” Eventually, I learned that with great action verbs comes great sentences. From that day forward, I was The Somewhat Impressive Writer-Man!But really...Joe Rover is the pen name of an author who spends his time writing many family-friendly fictional stories. “Joe” has been a journalist, computer programmer, photographer, and graphic designer. Alliance: A Life of Ace Journeyman Story
We need to talk,
said John Watermark, still aiming the gun at my head. I was still in the hospital after getting shot. (They’d already patched me up, and released me. Apparently it wasn’t that bad.
)
Right now I slumped down in a lobby chair. Watermark tracked me down thanks to a police report about the shooting. His agent, Lizzy, kept me busy in the Astral Plane long enough for John and his E Ops strike force to move in.
Sandy, a beautiful young woman with that girl next door quality who later turned out to be spying on me for her father, explained that like my father, I was a journey-man; I could project myself onto the Astral Plane and enter the Hall of Records to search for information about my father’s disappearance. I discovered that my father destroyed the information regarding his departure.
I came under John’s radar after accidently possessing an agent of his during a mission. It didn’t take long after to realize that Ether Operations hunted down gifted
people.
Thanks to E Ops’ government contacts, the lobby was cleared minus the ten armed agents, John, Sandy, my best friend Glen, and me. The place was dead quiet as the hunters (E Ops) and the prey (me) stared each other down. All that could be heard were the quick, short sounds of my own labored breath. Panic filled my body; having a gun to your head for the second time in under four hours will do that to you.
E Ops knew their business as they waited for me to return from the Astral Plane before moving me. If they moved me while I was in the Astral Plane, the link between my spirit and my body would break and I’d have about an hour to find my body (or have my body moved back) before the separation was more…permanent.
Finally, John motioned to the soldiers and they lowered their weapons. After a blindingly quick movement, John holstered his gun. He jerked his head towards the long, dark, empty hallway. Walk with me, Ace.
The halls, though part of a hospital, seemed dirty. The colors seemed faded. Everything around me seemed like it was filmed with a filter. The ticking of the clocks seemed shallow.
Watermark chuckled like he was my best friend. Boy, I tell you, it’s been awhile since I met another like you. Spirit Walkers are rare; believe it or not. The last one I met was good ol’ Lizzy.
John looked to be roughly my age, maybe a couple years older. One day I found out he was 24 but I’m not sure how true that was. John likes to keep things close to the vest.
I’m not even sure what he looks like. He always wears a military cap that covers most of his face. All I know is he’s a white male.
And now The Wizard of New Town…
Take Me Out of the Marketplace
Excuse me,
Max said as he bumped into another person. This is nuts,
he mumbled to himself. Just a few minutes ago this place was Westside Mall.
Now the place looked like an old fashioned marketplace. Instead of individual stores, there were individual stands. One person was yelling about his new shipment of scarves and other clothes and another was trying to hock jewelry.
Suddenly a flounder was shoved in Max’s face. Fresh fish!
the seller shouted. Max smiled uneasily and edged his way around as the salesperson continued to shove the fish in his face and say, Eh? Eh?
Quickly, Max, we must find a purveyor of magical items,
said the talking magic wand. It circled Max and floated into the air. It stopped to hover as if it was trying to get a bird’s eye view of the place.
Max closed his eyes and rubbed his temples. He hoped
