I Want Boobie: Grab Hold of the Authentic You: Dream Life, #1
()
About this ebook
From the first time she strapped that breast pump on, fear loomed around every corner. Milk production woes. An unconscionable fear of nipple loss. Gaping stares from strangers while her infant and (later on) toddler latched on for a suck.
But wait! This book isn’t about breastfeeding.
The story herein speaks to all life’s adventures where decisions are coupled with avoiding pressure from others who believe they know better. It’s a conflicted journey into a new world where one young woman learns to squelch the pressure of judgmental voices (well-intentioned as they might be), and instead, tune into her own authentic desires. On her terms. In her way.
There are ways we all struggle to make life our own style: Like early teenage encounters with puberty, or maybe that nerdy collection of trinkets hiding under the bed or that secret desire to speak out about something when we can’t find our voice. This book provides the courage to decide what’s right for us, as individuals.
In a way that’s both relatable, insightful, and often quite comical, too, Lyssa prompts readers to:
- understand how to live purposefully and apply your values in your life
- make choices that best align your true and unique life desires
- avoid decisions based on the influence of others, or fear of judgements
- embrace possibility by exploring the “Could’s” of life
- confidently live as the authentic you.
“I Want Boobie,” is about discovering a world of possibility to live a truly amazing life. Readers seeking to take charge of their lives will find clear guidelines to define their own individual Soul Mission: the essence of who you are to create a clearer desire to live more purposefully and pursue the bigger picture vision of your authentic life experience. A key to unlock your true self.

The First Suck

I f this is something you want, you’re going to have to deal with that .
The lactation consultant’s words did nothing to ease my apprehension, as I gripped my engorged breast and worried whether my nipple would simply pop off as it slipped further into the plastic tubes connected to my first breast pump.

Like the first time you have sex, it felt awkward and kind of hurt a little. Or the first time you ride a bike, unsure of your ability and fearful of the inevitable giant digger after a collision with the pavement. It’s a universal experience so common to many in the world, but individually, when it’s our first time—it takes an extra dose of confidence to wrap our minds around the experience.
How will I survive twenty painful minutes hooked to this machine? The pressing question ran through my mind as I held on tight. So many women have breastfed before me, so many have used a breast pump and squeezed tiny droplets from their nipples—yet, I feared an exotic explosion, some unnatural force or freak accident causing a tragic end to my own individual attempt.
Click, poof, squeeze, pull.
Some hours after our daughter was born 27 days early, and without real signs that she was ready to breastfeed on her own, the medical staff at the hospital where she was born had suggested I begin using a breast pump in order to encourage my milk to set in.

I’m not sure whether I loved or hated the lactation consultant for the words of advice she gave me. It was a harsh truth. Her tone wasn’t exactly gentle. And both my mind and body weren’t exactly rested after enduring labor, a grueling process that had started at 2 a.m. and lasted all morning. After three, maybe four minutes in …
Drip.
One little drip!
