An Overview

Daniel 12:4 …Seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. Nahum 2:4 The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall jostle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like lightning.

If you are asking yourself every evening after watching the news, What is happening to our world? you haven’t seen anything yet!

But you can find comfort in the fact that God is in control. He told us in His word exactly what would happen and gave us sign posts for the road ahead. These are some of the signs to look for to find out where we are and where we are going:

1. ISRAEL RETURNS

People will say that everyone has talked about the end of the age and the return of Christ for thousands of years and that is true. The disciples talked about it. First century Church leaders spoke about it. Even Christopher Columbus was expecting it.

But the difference in what people have said for years is that Israel is now a nation (1948), and they are back in their land as one nation, with one head of state. The desert is blooming like a rose and there are homes and gardens in Israel where there was only desolation before, just as the Bible prophesied.

2. PERSECUTION OF CHRISTIANS

If you have not noticed the courts destroying the rights of Christians, you have been in your own zoned-out state. People have been threatened, persecuted, and prosecuted for praying, for witnessing, for carrying their Bibles, and for talking about Jesus in the workplace and in the schools. In China, the Muslim world, parts of Africa and South America, there has always been extreme persecution and people are being martyred every day.

3. EARTHQUAKES, HURRICANES, OTHER NATURAL

DISASTERS

But God knows what is happening. He knows exactly what is going to happen next. His Word tells us what has been and what will be. It says earthquakes in different places. I thought I understood the Lord to tell me a few years ago that there would be an earthquake right through the middle of the U.S. I thought that was my imagination because everyone knows that earthquakes happen near oceans, right? Then I found out about an earthquake that had displaced part of the Mississippi River in the 1800’s, the New Madrid Fault. Not only could it happen again, scientists are expecting it.
