AT a time of growing global concern over a scarcity of talks aimed at a truce in the two-year-old conflict in Ukraine, irresponsible utterances by French President Emmanuel Macron can only serve to give credence to the suspicion that Europe has every intention of not only prolonging the war but instead of escalating it.
