About this ebook

Naomi Edmunds has a gift she wishes she could return. All of her life, she’s had visions that have led to trouble and shown nothing but disappointment and sadness—especially when it comes to her love life. Date after date has been marked by visions of impending disaster—or boredom. Naomi isn’t sure which is worse.

When her friend sets her up with a real estate attorney, the last thing she wants to do is keep the date. With her visions a closely-guarded secret, her friend’s patience is at its limit and Naomi knows that she has little choice but to keep the date and hope for the best.

Mark seems nice enough, but Naomi’s unable to fully relax with all the memories flooding her mind at the prospect of dating again. When the vision she inevitably gets shows something unexpected, Naomi decides to stick it out a while and see what happens.

Has Naomi’s luck finally turned, or will she be disappointed again?

Do you love weird, paranormal stories? GREAT, because I’ve got plenty of them to tell. I can help you journey into the unknown and discover the hidden, yet awesome world out there that most people either don’t see, or don’t want to see. I’ve been exploring that world unofficially since the first Poltergeist movie, and I haven’t lost that love for the paranormal since— that’s why I write about it. That’s right, I’m a paranormal fiction writer. But what sets me apart from other paranormal fiction writers out there is... I actively explore the fascinating hidden world around us through meditation and other practices, like Reiki and chanting. I also work with crystals. These things are part of my world, both real and fictional, and I love sharing them. I hope that, much like I felt after reading Christopher Pike’s work, you’ll feel inspired to explore the weird side of life by getting lost in one of my novels. Who am I? My name’s Jamie White. Aside from being obsessed with all things paranormal and writing about that in my fiction novels I’m also a journalism geek. Before following my ultimate obsession into fiction writing I was an editor of multiple college publications, and interned at a major newspaper. You could say words have accompanied me for a long time. During leisure times, I would role play Buffy the Vampire Slayer and write song spoofs based on that and other things. The fiction bug was biting, but it really got me when I went to my first writing club meeting on a whim (the lesson? Listen to that inner voice). I had some much fun writing that first story, I kept going. And within a year, I had the insane idea to try and write a whole novel in a month. Yes, I was questioning my sanity. Luckily, the muse was with me and her story, “The Life and Times of No One in Particular,” was born. Since then, I have been published by Pagan Writers Press, had a short featured in an anthology, won a library essay contest, and have several more projects coming, including the re-release of the Stains books and my new Lightworker series. On the weird side, I go to crystal classes, chanting classes, give tarot readings, and became a level II Reiki practitioner in February 2015. I'm taking a wild journey, and I'd love for you to join me. Fiction and the unknown? Works for me.

    Chapter One

Oh, come on, what’s it going to hurt? Stephanie Roberts asked Naomi Edmunds as they stood by the espresso machine in their office. Naomi chugged hers, while Stephanie reached for her cup and filled it. Once she was done, Stephanie sipped from hers and then brought up the subject that Naomi had been trying to get her to drop all day.

I just don’t want to. Naomi tried to keep the frustration out of her voice as she answered her friend’s question for what felt like the hundredth time. All she knew was, she was getting dangerously close to doing something that would probably get her fired.

Damn those HR people… if I smack her, I’ll be the one on the chopping block…

Who needed to waste time with stupid things like team spirit and such when you had a so-called friend on the staff who wouldn’t just let the whole matchmaker thing go? Needing the money for little things like food was just one reason to keep her mouth shut, and to keep her hands to herself. The girl was a good friend, and Naomi was self-aware enough to know that her current predicament was mostly her own fault.

I really wish I could just tell her.

Keeping her gift to herself was something that she always felt kept her from really connecting with people, on a friend level or otherwise. She’d thought about telling Stephanie many times since they’d met, and she considered doing it now. The urge brought back a memory that quickly shut that train of thought down.

Five-year-old Naomi chased her friend Susie through the park, giggling as she finally caught up to her and tapped her on the arm. Got ya!

"You cheated," Susie accused, turning to face her.

Images flashed through Naomi’s mind, causing her to miss her friend’s words. Her eyes widened as she tried to make sense of all the weird pictures in her head.

"If you’re just going to be like that, I’m going home."

The girl’s words snapped Naomi back to attention. She saw the girl hurrying toward her bike and cried out, Wait!

Susie stopped and turned to face her with a frown on her face. What’s wrong? She mounted her bike and gave Naomi an expectant look.

"Don’t ride it, Naomi practically yelled. You’ll get hurt."

"Huh?" She looked like she didn’t know whether to laugh or go running for her parents on the other side of the park.

"I mean it. The images she’d seen scared her and left her feeling confused, but she couldn’t help it. She was right; she knew it. She had to stop her friend! Walk with me."

"No way, Susie said. I want to practice. Mommy says practice makes you better."

    "But—"

Naomi never got the chance to finish what she was saying. Susie pushed with one foot and began peddling with the other. Naomi watched nervously as her
