About this ebook

In the aftermath of the brutal attack on Kellmore village, the vampires have split into two different factions: those who are still under the command of Gerald Munich, and those who have gone rogue under the control of Gabriel Levitt.

Turmoil is present in both of the groups as Dylan and Sasha struggle to find their place in what is left of their own coven, and Irina struggles to find where the power rests among the vampires who have left.

Under the influence of a powerful new rogue, the rogue vampires cause trouble for the humans in the town. Will Gerald and his vampires be able to repair the damages and come back from the destruction that the rift has caused, or will Dylan and Sasha watch as the Kellmore coven disappears forever?

Bloodlust A New Thirst Book - Alice Jamison

    Chapter One

Sasha Lowell stared up at the ominous-looking steel doors in front of her. To get here, she had ridden through miles of forest, hiked through a mile of swamp land, and felt her way through a dark cave. She had always thought if she was a part of something so secretive and serious, she would be thrilled, but she just felt tired and scared.

She glanced over at Dylan who was standing next to her, but only barely. He had been through a lot, and though Sasha had done her best to be there for him, it was more personal for him that for her.

It was his people that had been attacked, his people who had to flee their homes and set up refuge in the middle of nowhere, away from anyone who might want to hurt them. They had to uproot their families, haul their kids away from their school and leave their jobs, just to huddle in a metal box buried in a cave.

And though it was hard for everyone else, Sasha got to see, up close and personal, the stress it was putting on Dylan. He hadn’t rested since the evacuation, going out at night to get supplies and giving all his spare time to helping families get settled. And though Sasha’s father had protested, she had spent most of her spare time with Dylan, helping him help them.

Dylan took a deep breath, as though he could feel her thinking about him. He glanced over at her and offered a small smile, tilting his head so his hair fell over his forehead.

Sasha smiled back at him as the door in front of them slid open.

Two tall, broad-shouldered vampires slid out of the darkness and appraised Dylan and Sasha before stepping to the side, giving them entry to the darkness inside. They stepped forward and the door slid shut behind them. It was dark and Sasha felt in the air until she found Dylan’s arm to guide her down the hallway.

Sorry about that, one of the vampires said from somewhere in front of her. She couldn’t see him, but his voice was deep and imposing. She took a deep breath, trying to dispel the fear that was creeping in through her skin.

It’s okay, she said, opening her eyes as wide as she could, trying to see any discernable shape. I understand.

After the humans had attacked the vampires in broad daylight, they had decided it was best to stay in the dark.

Sasha gripped Dylan’s arm as he stopped. There was the sound of a door sliding shut behind them, then they were descending. Sasha’s stomach flipped as she thought about all the earth above them, on top of them. Her ears popped and she swallowed quickly, trying to work away the feeling.

Dylan stepped a little closer to her and she gripped his arm a little tighter.

Dylan, sweetie! a loud voice said as the doors slid open.

Sasha blinked rapidly in the dim light as her hand fell away from Dylan’s arm. The hallway here was lit dimly, as the vampires could see in the dark, but not as well as they could in dim light.

They stepped out and Vivian Munich wrapped her arms around her son, who leaned into her embrace for a moment before stepping away from her. Vivian gave Sasha a brief hug and pulled away quickly, not making eye contact with her as she turned to go down the hallway.

Sasha watched as the woman went. From the moment Sasha had met her, she seemed so far away like she was from another planet. And it wasn’t just because Vivian was a vampire, obviously. It was because Vivian was nothing like her son, who was so warm and natural. Vivian was formal, composed, all the time. Sasha watched as she went, dressed simply in white pants and a blouse, but walking like she was sporting a cocktail dress.

Dylan sent Sasha an apologetic look, but Sasha shook her head at him, nudging him with her shoulder. She knew it without anyone having to say it – humans and vampires were not meant to mix, and though Vivian was doing the best she could, she didn’t like the idea of her son dating a human.

There is so much to be done, Vivian said, walking briskly down the hall.

They entered a small room where Vivian waved her hand at another vampire standing guard before sweeping down another large hall. She was talking like they were planning a luncheon instead of taking care of a wounded community, Sasha thought.

They entered the sick bay and Vivian quieted down, her eyes sweeping over those who had been injured in the human attack. Both Dylan and his mother seemed to wrinkle their nose at something when they entered the room, but all Sasha could smell was the typical sterile hospital environment. Cleaner, alcohol, and distilled water. The walls were even white, much like the hospital Sasha had rushed to after her best friend had been injured in a hit and run.

Sasha looked at the nearly three dozen vampires lying or sitting on cots in the room. Dark red blood seeped through bandages, a few of them even cried, holding limbs or rocking back and forth. Vampires were stronger and quicker than humans, but that didn’t mean a stray bullet wouldn’t rip through their flesh just as easily.

Vivian settled her hand on the head of an injured boy, her touch light and tentative like if he shifted, she would move away. He was breathing deeply and soundly, curled up on his side, but there was a wide white bandage wrapped all the way around his head. He had been blinded in one eye by a bullet that almost took his life.

Countless other wounded vampires were lying on the cots, their heads propped up on pillows, looking even more pale than normal. The first time Sasha had come with Dylan, a vampire nurse had seen her staring at them.

The nurse had had crazy orange hair, all piled on top of her head, held back by a red headband. Her scrubs had been bright and cheery, enough to starkly contrast the rest of the room, and her words had come out with a steady drawl.
