Trying to finish this last report before the extended Christmas holiday vacation, David Appleton scanned and flipped through the pages to find the mistake causing him to be out of balance.

Boss said for everyone to shut down and go to the tree, Davey.

David gritted his teeth at the annoyance and ignorant behavior of his so-called colleague. David. The sharp flare of tension-filled anxiety filled his vision. Even with his daily medication and yoga routines, his mind and body spiraled out of control with these random flares. He pulled in a breath and held it to the count of five.

What? Couldn't hear you, Davey.

Knowing the man did it to annoy him, David fisted his hand under the desk to control his anger. My. Name. Is. David. He kept his words down to short, clipped tones while he turned toward Marc, a member of a group of coworkers he couldn't stand. It's not Dave. Davey. Or any other idiom. It's David. For the last time.

Fine. Whatever you say. It's the holidays. Stop being a Scrooge, Marc said. Look. Boss gave orders to shut down. Thought I do something nice and tell you.
