lesser demons
They watched him without much interest. The lord of hell, or one of them at least, had told them to find a lesser demon to recruit for a mission. When these two had heard which demon the lord wanted they were sceptical. The lord wanted Ukobach. He was a small time demon who tended the many fires of hell to make sure they were hot enough and strong enough for whatever their purpose was. These two were a bit relieved though, because this was the only lesser demon they could think of.
The reason they thought of him was mostly because they didn't have much dealings with lesser demons but while they travelled around hell they would come across Ukobach and because he was weaker than them they would bully him. Putting out the fire he was tending or knocking him over. Anything to try and get him angry, it hasn't worked so far. He tended to ignore them and wait until they were done whatever cruel thing they wanted to accomplish and then continue on his way.
For a demon this was a strange way to act, most of them got angry really quickly not bothering to wait it out as the others moved on. This trait made it all the more fun to bully them, watch them struggle against stronger demons.
Ukobach, we have a job for you.
The taller of the two spoke first. His name was Malphas and he was also a lord of hell, he preferred the shape of a crow but had taken the form of a man because that seemed to be the only form anyone ever saw Ukobach using and they had been told they needed to appeal to him this time.
Have you extinguished one of my fires?
He sounded bored, almost as if he couldn't care less one way or the other.
Not this time.
The second one spoke, his name was Azarath and he was usually seen with horns coming out of either side of his head. He had kept the horns because he didn't figure Ukobach would care one way or the other. He was pretty sure Ukobach was a demon of boredom, he didn't seem to care about anything in front of himself. Azarath was pretty sure he had never seen Ukobach make any sort of expression.
Then what is it?
Ukobach looked up, he seemed vaguely curious about what had brought them to him but not enough for him to actually care.
The lord of this hell has a request.
Azarath said and watched as Ukobach's face showed a bit of surprise. He was not used to being called on by the higher ups, he did suck a good job with the fires of hell that they never had any complaints that would warrant a summons.
I will go to him immediately.
Ukobach stood up and Malphas laughed.
He doesn't wish to see you.
Ukobach nodded, what is his request?
The two more powerful demons looked at each other, since they had seen the surprise on his face and judging by how quickly he had stood ready to go see their lord they assumed he was excited to see their master but once they had crushed that hope he didn't even seem to mind. They pondered this and wondered if maybe he was the demon of confusion.
There is a girl in the human world.
Malphas said, Our lord wants her soul in hell.
Ukobach pondered this and shrugged, it didn’t seem that complicated. In fact it seemed rather simple for a lowly demon like him. His job wasn’t usually to temp souls but to maintain hell,
