The Ambition Of A Hustla - Moe moe

    Chapter 1

When the bell rang for class to end, Rhonda walked outta the building and stood next to the exit door where she usually met her homegirl, Kye, when it's their period to go to the cafeteria. As Rhonda stood there and scanned the crowd by the bleachers to make sure Kye wasn’t already outside, she noticed another crowd had just exited the building and didn’t see her in either crowd. She was drifting off in a daze when she caught Kye out the corner of her eye walking outta the building where she was standing.

Rhonda, I’m sorry for keeping you waiting so long. I had to get a few things straight with Mr. Lee, my biology teacher, said Kye.

I thought you forgot we were supposed to meet up this period and go get something to eat, but here it is I’m waitin in this hot ass sun for you.

My bad girl, you right, it is hot as hell out here. You ready to go to the cafe?

Yeah, I’m not hungry though. I just wanna get me something to drink.

Come on then cause I’m ready to get out this heat.

They walked across the courtyard in silence at first before Kye started to speak again.

I wanna introduce you to this dude, he’s in a few of my classes.

Kye, I don’t need you introducing me to any of your friends, said Rhonda sarcastically. She knew from experience Kye didn't have the best taste in boys and she didn't want to have nothing to do with no bums.

Don’t tell me you’re still dealing with Shane who ain’t trying to do nothing for you or himself, sighed Kye.

Girl please, he in my rear view mirror. I don’t want nobody who ain’t want nothin outta life, besides things wasn’t workin out between us no way. I would’ve end up killing his ass. We still cool though.

Girl stop it. He wasn’t that off the chain was he?

I’m just going to say that he’s old news now.

Mm hm. Look over there by the cafeteria door, that’s the dude Mel I was telling you I wanted to introduce you to.

You talkin bout the dude with the Air force one’s, blue jean shorts and white tee? He wasn’t the finest dude she ever met, but he sure had Shane beat by a few miles, hoping that was the dude Kye was talking about.

Yeah that’s him standing by the door, said Kye.

Rhonda couldn’t help but notice his medium built toned body along with his bronze color complexion as he stood a good distance between them. He doesn't even look like my type.

You wouldn’t even know if he’s your type unless you met him. Now stop trippin and let’s walk over there to where he’s at.

The closer Rhonda got to Mel, the finer he got, she couldn’t help thinking to herself.

Hey Mel-Ron, what’s up? said Kye as they approached Mel.

Enjoying this lil breeze, bout to go inside the cafe and get something to eat before the bell ring. Why wassup with you? he asked.

Nothing, jus chillin. I seen you over here looking lonely so I decided to come and see how you were doing since I didn’t see you in last period, she said.

Yeah, I had to handle some things with my partner so I wasn’t able to make it to class last period. I ain’t trying to cut you off or be rude Kye, but who’s your friend? asked a curious Mel.

I apologize Mel’ron, I’m the one being rude. This my homegirl Rhonda. Rhonda this is Mel’ron, she said.

It’s nice to meet you Rhonda, he replied taking in an eye full of Rhonda’s body.

Same here Mel’ron, said Rhonda extending her hand.

Rhonda, you ready to go get something to eat? asked Kye.

    Yes, she replied.

Kye, it wouldn’t be a problem if I chill with y’all will it? asked Mel'ron.

Nah, you cool Mel’ron. Actually we would appreciate some company, right Rhonda, said Kye giving the eye.

I don’t mind Kye, she said

You know we don’t have much time left before the bell ring, so lunch is my treat today, said Mel’ron.

Mel’ron you don’t have to do that, said Kye.

He shrugged his shoulders. Kye, it ain’t nothing. I got y’all today.

She smiled. Well in that case let me know what you want and I’ll go order while you and Rhonda find a table before they're all taken.

I can’t argue with that, but you see how long the line is at the pizza shop right? he said.

Don’t worry about that boy, she said.

Well in that case order me a medium cheese pizza and a large Hi-C drink and order you and Rhonda whatever it is y’all want, he said as he handed her two twenty dollar bills.

Rhonda, what would you like? she asked.

I’m straight, maybe something to drink, said Rhonda.

Mel’ron I’ma just get a few slices of your pizza. I know you not going to eat all of that, she said.

    That’s straight Kye, he said.

By the time Mel turned back to face Rhonda she was already walking to an empty table and he smirked. She seemed different and he was going to make it his mission to find out what she was all about. He walked to the table she chose and smiled at her. Rhonda you don’t mind if I take this seat next to you do you?

I don’t mind Mel. You don’t mind if I call you Mel for short, do you? asked Rhonda.

Nah, that’s cool. I prefer that anyways. So where you from if you don’t mind me asking? he said trying to start a conversation with her.

I stay by fifty-two lumber in this neighborhood called Boulder Bluff. What about you? she asked.

I stay right up the street from there in Birch Hollow.

I gotta homegirl named Pam that stay round there, you wouldn’t happen to know her would you?

Nah, I don’t know her. Matter of fact I only know a few people around there.

You must be don’t come out a lot.

Nah, it ain’t that, I just stay to myself and on top of that I be back and forth to my mother’s house in Summerville. I’m just down here with my pops to finish school.

That’s probably why I haven’t seen you around.

Yeah, I don’t do the crowd thing.

She nodded her head. Kye told me you were in a few of her classes.

Yeah, we got about three classes together. She good people. We kick it whenever opportunity allows us to.

Excuse me, I’m not interrupting anything am I? asked Kye as she slid the box of pizza in front of Mel.

Nah you straight. Me and Rhonda were just talking, said Mel.

I see y’all two got a bit of chemistry flowing, so I’ma let y’all finish y’all thing, she said as a smile spread across her face.

Kye you straight, it ain’t like that. I thought you was going to get down with me on this pizza? he asked as he opened the box.

I’ma just grab two slices. I need to use the phone anyways, so y’all two go ahead. Oh, I almost forgot Mel’ron here’s the change for your food, she said as she reached into her pocket. I’ma see you in class next period and Rhonda, I’ll see you on the way home. Mel’ron thanks again for  the pizza.

Kye was the chill with, get high with type female, the kind Mel wouldn’t even try to make a move on. Now Rhonda on the other hand, he had to make an exception, because he wasn’t much into red bones, he always had the impression that they were devious and wasn’t to be trusted. He might regret it later on down the line, but Rhonda didn’t seem like that type and the more they talked the more he was feeling her. She stood 5’7, one hundred forty pounds, jet black hair that hung down to her shoulders with hazel eyes and the way  she was wearing them spandex that showed every curve she was blessed with did something to him.

Rhonda, I know it’s about time for this bell to ring for class to start back, so can we finish our conversation walkin back to the school building or your boyfriend wouldn’t approve of that? he asked.

Yes, we can walk and talk and if I did have a boyfriend, I don’t think Kye would’ve introduced me to you, she said with a smirk.

They stood up, threw their trash away and began to walk back towards the building and continued on their conversation.

Rhonda, I enjoyed the company. Well, the lil bit of what we did spend  conversating. When do you think the next time I’ll be able to get at you and maybe sit down and talk with you again?

Maybe tomorrow around the same time. I could meet you out in the courtyard, then we can walk to the cafe together, she said.

That’s what it is then Rhonda. I’ma get at you then, because I’m not trying to be late for class again.

Alright Mel, I’ll talk to you later and again it was nice meeting you.

Same here Rhonda, said Mel before he headed in the opposite direction.

SO WHAT’S UP WITH YOU Rhonda? I see you and Mel’ron was hitting it off real good in the cafeteria, said Kye.

Yeah we had small talk. It wasn’t nothin though, he seems like a nice guy, said Rhonda.

So you gonna give my boy a chance? asked Kye with a raised brow.

Kye, why are you so anxious for me to get with Mel’ron? Whats up with you and Sam? she asked suspiciously.

Kye shrugged her shoulders. How do you mean what’s up with me and Sam?

Just like you said what’s up with me and Mel.

We still together, this good pussy I got he ain’t going nowhere, now back to you and Mel’ron.

We talked, he asked me when can he see me again. He also asked if I had a boyfriend and that was that.

I think you need to push back up on him girl.

Please, that boy ain’t even on my mind like that, she said as she rolled her eyes.

Well, we’ll be outta school in a few weeks for the Summer so don’t be the only lonely one out there without a man for the Summer.

I don’t need no man to satisfy me. I know how to get mines off when I’m feelin horny.

The next day when the bell rang for fourth period to end, Rhonda went and stood in front of the cafe where Mel’ron was supposed to meet her at. Thirty minutes had went by when she realized he wasn’t going to show up, so at that point she knew he was all game. Rhonda hadn’t seen Kye all day so she was the first person that crossed her mind when she walked inside the house. Rhonda decided to give Kye a call and see what she was up to. The phone rang three times before she answered.

Hello, said Kye into the phone.

    Kye, what’s up girl?

Nothing, lying in the bed watchin The Young and The Restless.

I didn’t see you in school today, that’s not like you, what’s up?

Rhonda, remember I told you the other day I had a doctor’s appointment today.

My mind was somewhere else, she said trying to recollect her thoughts.

Did you see Mel’ron today in school?

Girl let me tell you, he was supposed to meet me in front of the cafe after fourth period ended, he never showed up so now I was out there lookin like a damn fool in the hot ass sun.

He probably didn’t show up to school himself. I know he wouldn’t have stood you up like that intentionally, not after he told me yesterday about how he was really feeling you and how he wanted me to put him in the mix with you.

You trippin, I’m not foolin around with that boy after how he did me today.

I know you feelin him to, if you wasn’t you wouldn’t have never had a conversation with him, so I don’t see why you actin like that.

Kye, I’ma call you back later. I got a few things that my mother need me to do for her.

Kye laughed. Whatever Rhonda, I’ma be right here and call me back, she said as she ended their call.

The next day when fourth period ended, Rhonda grabbed her things and made her way outta the classroom and then down the hallway. As she made her way through the exit door that led to the courtyard she noticed Mel’ron posted up on the side of the building. Rhonda’s first thought wanted her to turn around and walk the other way at the sight of seeing him, but instead she approached him.

How you doing liar? she asked with a nonchalant attitude.

Rhonda, don’t act like that. I know you saying I stood you up yesterday, but it ain’t even like that. I didn’t make it to school so I apologize for that. Now can I make it up to you? he asked her with puppy dog eyes.

I’m on my way to get something to eat.

Well, can I at least pay for your lunch and one more thing, I prefer you call me Mel.

I’m not gonna be rude and tell you no Mel, if that’s what you prefer then that’s what I’ll call you ok?

    Yeah that’s straight Rhonda.

Soon as Mel and Rhonda stepped foot through the cafeteria the first person they noticed was Kye.

Mel, you see your friend there waving at you, said Rhonda pointing at Kye.

I think she’s waving at you, not me Rhonda, he said, acknowledging Kye as he and Rhonda made their way through the crowded cafe.

Rhonda, I’ma go grab us something to eat while you find us a table. Is there anything specific that you would like?

Some fries and drink will be fine.

He left and went to the lines to get them both something to eat. After he paid for the food and was on his way back to the table, his pager went off. When the name came across the screen with four-one-one behind it, he automatically knew who it was and what it was about.

Rhonda excuse me a minute, I need to go use the phone, he said as he placed the food on the table.

Take your time. I’ma be here when you get back if you don’t forget about me like you did yesterday.

Ain’t like that Rhonda, just gimme a few minutes. I’ll be right back, said Mel before he walked off.

When he got to the phone he realized that he didn’t have any change on him, that’s when he noticed the dude Tim walking down the hallway. He knew Tim from seeing his face around the neighborhood and as they got on and off the schoolbus.

Yo Tim! he shouted as Tim walked in the opposite direction.

At the sound of him hearing his name called Tim stopped in his tracks and turned around to see who it was.

Tim, let me holla atcha for a minute, said Mel as he walked towards him.

Wassup my dog? I didn’t recognize who you were for a minute, said Tim giving Mel some dap.

I need some loose change for this dollar bill so I can use the phone.

You straight. I got extra change on me, said Tim as he reached in his pocket.

I appreciate it man, said Mel as he dropped the change in his hand.

Mel, I’ma holla atcha later on, hopefully when we get back round the way.

    Bet, that’s what it is.

As the phone rang, Mel wondered why his cousin Rude Boy was paging him so early in the day, especially on a school day.

"Hello,’ the familiar voice on the other end of the receiver said.

Wassup cuzzo you just page me?

Yeah, you coming to the Ville after you get outta school this afternoon?

    "It
