About this ebook
In a dystopia timeline we humans have become the prey. Zombies...no demons roam the land searching for their next meal. There's a town that is known as the last safe place. The only thing standing in between us and safety is the canal. It houses these creatures that look like dogs but act like humans. Of course, at one time they were human. The canoe starts to move and fear engulfs me. Halfway through it attacks. I wake up in the "safe town". I was spared from the attack...but why?

I grew up in Warsaw Indiana. I started writing when I was in third grade. The reason I started writing was to entertain my friends and family. I loved telling stories and eventually it turned into writing them down so I could tell new friends. I try to write something everyday, even if it is just a sentence or two. My grandparents, Rodger and Mary Phillips, owned a small campground around the lake. I spent a lot of my childhood there and would often go out into the woods for inspiration. My other favorite spot was the pier out on the lake. One of my biggest inspirations now is my 17 year old son. He was diagnosed with Autism when he was 3 years old.Watching him grow and learn and the way he interacts with people inspires me. His own desire to chase his own dreams has pushed me to do the same.

The Canal
The cold water lapped across the long canoe-like boat. There were about twenty of us in it. We were the last refugees trying to get to the safest town. We had been running for our entire lives. We lived in small metal shacks to keep…them out. The horrid creatures…the demons! They roamed the land searching for any living being to make their next meal. My kind, the refugees, we’ve lived this way since the end of times started. Since the day the sun blacked out for more than five days. That’s when they appeared. Their bodies were grotesque. They look as if their skin was turned inside out. Their eyes sunk back into their heads. Their groans scraped down the streets like nails on a chalkboard. Even animals had become like them. Dogs, I guess that’s what I’d call them.
