Inspiration

This poetry compilation aims at addressing problems encountered by South African citizens after independence in 1994. The poems in this book will appeal to those who enjoy thought-provoking material which tells a story. About the Author

J S Nduli is an English First Additional Language educator and principal at Cebisa High School. He started out his working career as a clerk under the Department of Education and Culture at Ulundi KZN in 1978. He later joined Esikhawini College of Education where he obtained a Secondary Teachers Diploma in 1989. As an extra-mural student he successively obtained FDE and B ED (HONS) Degrees at RAU and Potchefsroom University for Christian Higher Education Universities respectively.

Life

If you write a letter,

You must expect to welcome a reply.

If you challenge somebody,

You must expect a response from the person you challenged.

If you sow crops,

You must expect to reap.

If you knock on a door,

You must expect the opening of the door.

If you search for something,

You must expect to meet what you search for.

If you open up rocks,

You must expect to greet a huge chevron-skinned puff adder.

So, don’t panic if

You welcome a reply,

You get a response,

You reap your crops,

You find your door opening,

You meet what you search for,

You greet a mountain of a chevron-skinned puff adder.

Because all these are responses to your own actions.

Even if sweets of your actions are bitter,

They are your own sweets.

Time

We have exactly the same amount of time

The day is always twenty-four hours,

Therefore make sure that all the time

Available is used to build your imaginary towers.

Try to change abstracts into concretes with that time

Given to you by God in hours,

You must know what you want to achieve in a day’s time

To ensure that you don’t always try to get out of troubles.

Time is always precious but limited,

You must always plan ahead

To remain in control of what you have decided,

Be optimistic and feel good that you have started at last.

Your goals be meaningful and specific,

With clear objectives that are realistic.
