The Pain Game Rules
()
About this ebook
The Pain Game Rules guides us to realise ourselves as we uniquely are. We become sculptors of our true being and the effort we invest into our artwork will one day become our own masterpieces. The artistry will begin when we accept who we each uniquely are with every imperfection that we may have because they make up the whole of who that is. When we love and accept who we are, we can work on the finer details of who we have discovered there.
The Pain Game Rules encourages us to treasure and value time for where we need to grow and what we need to heal. The work we do on ourselves becomes the springboard from which we transcend beyond the limitations of even our own imaginations and only we can take ourselves there.
Beverley Bohbot
Beverley Yolande was inspired to study Ancient History and Biblical Archaeology at UNISA, convinced that to understand where we are going required knowledge of where it all began. Her spiritual journey originated with an interest in life’s mysteries and then through a series of painful challenges. This journey took her beyond the confines of conventional beliefs and as the journeys crisscrossed each other, it brought for her a deeper understanding of the purpose of life. Since the release of her first book, The Pain Game in 2014, she has completed her Level One Certificate of Training through the International Kundalini Yoga Teacher’s Association, receiving her qualification in November 2015. She has taught Kundalini Yoga for the last three years. She has also taken part and completed many workshops in different areas of healing. In 2016 she completed an educational program, Beyond Addiction (The Yogic Path to Recovery), a program designed for individuals seeking to develop healthy habits and overcome addictive behaviour. She shares her discoveries in the hope of inspiring others to make theirs.

About the Author
There is another sky,
Ever serene and fair,
And there is another sunshine,
Though it be darkness there;
Never mind faded forests, Austin
Never mind silent fields –
Here is a little forest,
Whose leaf is ever green;
Here is a brighter garden,
Where not a frost has been;
In its unfading flowers
I hear the bright bee hum:
Prithee, my brother,
Into my garden come!
Emily Dickinson
All of who I am is a tribute to my mother, with love and gratitude.
Acknowledgements
My grateful thanks go to all those who have been a part of my life; who have helped me grow and been the eyes and ears that saw, and listened and heard. They have stuck by me through the fog helping me heal the cuts, splinters, burns and bruises and through the sunshine sharing all the treasured moments. There are never enough words …
I thank my family, friends and all those who have been waiting in anticipation for the release of this book. You have all been patient and supportive even when I thought I was finished but I wasn't. I hope you won't be disappointed.
There was the day all the work I had done vanished without a trace that sent me into a deep state of shock. Thank you to my beautiful boy Daniel, you rescued it (and me!) from the cavernous depths … Then I found a note left by Hannah saying:
Gran, I hope you finish your book soon! I’ve never seen so many scraps of paper in the bin.
She only saw one bin full but there are many reams of paper making carbon in the compost heap.
To my brother Michael, for remembering the full story of the man who arrived at the Gates of Heaven.
My thanks to my dear friend, Freyda for all your comma suggestions (I didn't use all!) and for fixing some of my bad English.
To my publisher, Robin Beck and Nadine May of Kima Global Publishers, for your support, encouragement and patience and for not dropping me mid-flight.

There is a lot of repetition in this book ‘two’ but it is purposeful! Any glitches are likely to be unintentional ;).
Every attempt has been made to acknowledge the source or obtain permission to use some relevant quotes. Where the attempt has been unsuccessful, I would be pleased to hear from the source so that any omission or error can be rectified.
The Game
There is a Game called Life which I believe we are all here to 'play'. Each Game has a uniquely designed operational field that encapsulates our individual circumstances and exclusive blueprints. We will have the chance from within the parameters of this field through the choices we make and the attitudes we develop to make our way through the Game; the objective of which is to emerge victorious over the challenges we face and to reconnect ourselves with the Spiritual Paradigm.
"We began as wanderers, and we are wanderers still. We have lingered long enough on the shores of the Cosmic Ocean. We are ready at last to set sail for the Stars."
Carl Sagan
Often the thing most feared, once crossed, turns out to be an unexpected bridge from which we can see who we were and who we are becoming.
As we listen more in the silence, we hear the true and authentic sound of the inner voice – the call to honour who we are.
This is dedicated to all the Players in the Game of whom each of us is one, encouraging the Inner Journey because it is in this place and from this space that we tap into our enormous potential. This is the potential that we were each born to rediscover so that our hearts open completely to reconnect us with our Divinity and Cosmic Interconnectedness.
It is dedicated too, to future generations that will follow because at the core of it all we ourselves are going to be ‘recycled’ to experience what we create now.
This work is based on my own perceptions and interpretations as a result of a journey down many avenues in search of truth. Coupled with my own life experiences and curiosity, insight and discernment has been my guide to a deeper understanding of the purpose of life and like most things, is still a tapestry in progress...
No matter how much we learn, there is always more knowledge to be gained. In this connection I am reminded of a short poem that has been in my mind over the years. It reads as follows: 'I used to think I knew I knew. But now I must confess. The more I know I know, I know I know the less.
A Ray Olpin
Introduction
"He said, ‘You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.’"
The Velveteen Rabbit, Beatrix Potter
Whatever we believe about the reason we are here is not important, and whatever we believe about our histories, fact or fiction, myth or deception, truth or lies, we can never know who we are until we make our own journeys of discovery to examine for ourselves what we believe is true and authentic.
Regardless of whether or not we believe there is a deeper meaning to our lives, it will be the meaning that we create for the reason we are here that will inspire us to aim at a more tangible purpose. When we are positioned to value that there is something beyond this dimension challenging our connection, we have a good reason to develop a deeper relationship with ourselves to reach for it.
Within the paradigm that contains our physical dimension lie all the reflections of the oneness and interconnectedness we have to all things. And it will be through what we encounter whilst we travel through this realm, that our innate nature, quality of character and sensibility is ‘put on trial’. Most of all it will test how courageous we are to meet ourselves full on, above and beyond anything that stands in the way of the progress that we are each capable of making.
Everything that we have the capacity to achieve will come through the circumstances in our lives and ensuing experiences. And each of us have an important opportunity, both individually and in partnership with each other through the work we do on ourselves, to ultimately redeem and reclaim who we are.
"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
Mahatma Gandhi
The vast amount of anomalies present in the physical realm, are at odds with the quintessential nature of who we are. Many of these have developed as a result of the structure of various systems whose ‘rules’ and ‘laws’ have been ‘imposed’ on us and from the beginning of our known histories have separated and divided us through prolonged cycles of manipulation, discord and conflict.
As we have bought into these systems allowing them to control us, we remain enslaved to the way in which they continually fail us, and in the process disconnect us from ourselves and each other. We can’t rely on sources for our information which distort and manipulate ‘truth’ through misrepresentations, misunderstandings and misinterpretations and unfortunately some of these sources propagate ‘hidden agendas’ about which even they themselves may be unaware.
"We are here to awaken from the illusion of our separateness."
Thich Nhat Hanh
The way in which we view and experience the inequities and injustices around us is the only way that the depth of our understanding of what the Game is all about, can be triggered. This, in effect means, that the realities we face were and are being created through the collective and individual choices we have made and continue to make.
The choices we make will generally be based on how we have interpreted the values, traditions and beliefs that have been passed down to us as well as the angle from which we each view our experiences and the world. These can then create adverse cycles that will perpetuate, moment by moment, day after day, year after year and lifetime to lifetime from which we can only break free when we are ready to seek knowledge and understanding for ourselves.
When we are not certain of who we are we become susceptible to a series of unnecessary fears. These fears give rise to feelings of self-doubt that create insecurities and anxieties which compromise our ability to function optimally and then detrimentally affect our interplay with the world around us.
"Failure and success seem to have been allotted to men by their stars. But they retain the power of wriggling, of fighting with their star or against it, and in the whole universe the only really interesting movement is this wriggle."
E M Forester
The fear we have of believing in ourselves has stripped us of the power and the choices that we do have. In burying ourselves into the belief that we are powerless and helpless, we bury our potential along with the pain that we suffer as a result of what is happening in our external realities. And then we are oblivious to the impact this has on us at the ethereal level of our being.
If we want to make a true evaluation of how we understand our world then we must study it for ourselves and base our studies on our own intuition too, because the data is imprinted in the integrated field where our physical, psychological and emotional ‘DNA’ intersect. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) as defined on Wikipedia is the molecule that carries the genetic instructions used in the growth, development, functioning and reproduction of all known living organisms and many viruses.
"We live in illusion and the appearance of things. There is a reality. We are that reality. When you understand this, you see that you are nothing, and being nothing, you are everything. That is all."
Kalu Rinpoche
We haven’t all exactly got the freedom we would like to have but in the domain where freedom counts most, we have the choice to create attitudes that have the power to reconstruct and reboot the inner and outer paradigms. Once we realise the power we have in the freedom to choose our attitudes, we open ourselves up to question more about who we are, why we believe we are here and how we can add value whilst here.
Only when we question what is going on around us and relate it to how it is impacting within us as also what is happening within us that is affecting the world around us, can we open up our minds and gain entry to pathways that give us deeper and more expansive insights.
The only journey that will guide us to truth and freedom is the Inner Journey because the path to knowing this inner place is via the inner connection that we are encouraged to make. And it doesn’t take much to get us in. We don't need a plane or a yacht or a train to get there; neither do we need a car or a bicycle. We don't need to climb the highest mountain or swim the deepest sea to get there either because where we are is where it is.
We each have a chance to make our way through the maze of chaos and discord from the ‘nightmares of our creations’ and press the reset button that will give us access to our original blueprint. The irony of the Inner Journey is that it is the one we most fear to take, yet is the only one that has the power to truly Reconnect, Empower, Authenticate it and Liberate us = REAL.
"A thousand times we die in one life. We crumble, break and tear apart until the layers of illusion are burned away and all that is left, is the truth of who and what you really are."
Teal Scott
We will never be able to deal with emotions logically just as we will never be able to understand the mysteries of consciousness and our perceptions of the Universe only through science. Our tendency to believe that solid proof is required to validate our inner beliefs or sense of knowing has prompted much scepticism and self-doubt. Yet subliminally we know that there is a reality that exists beyond our three dimensional paradigm because it echoes deep within the matrix of our Souls.
We know and feel this through the power of our feelings, imagination and intuition which is ‘proof’ enough that what we experience in our own personal realities is REAL. Yet there is no concrete evidence through conventional channels of experimentation to equate these two seemingly opposing forces. Perhaps the word conscience would be the connecting factor – con(scious) + science = the invisible moral compass of our inner voice that discerns what feels ‘right’ and what does not.
"Though free to think and act, we are held together like the stars in the firmament, with ties inseparable. These ties cannot be seen, but we can feel them."
Nikola Tesla
Our biggest clue to some deeper meaning is how short our life spans are relative to the time frame around our bigger picture. Life is a sequence of moments that are transient. They last long enough for us to interface with the worst and best of our experiences and feelings so that we can come into our own true state of being. I believe it is specifically designed in this way so that we have opportunities to love, live and celebrate who we each are by learning to value what life in this paradigm means.
It is through the call to the Inner Journey that we are urged to find answers to gain understanding of what the Game is all about because the Game is designed to reconnect us. And it is the intricacies interwoven in the themes of our individual and collective stories that must be deciphered if we are ever going to be able to work out the code in our original blueprints. Before we are able to deeply connect with these themes, we will have to crack this code. This
